  1. Bernie, Bernie, Bernie……
You have just revealed yourself, yet again, as a “useful idiot”.
Your love of the Liberal party has understandably blinded you. Your committment to this once great institution and force for unity, accomodation and progress in Canada, has left you confused and searching for simpler times.
Rather than give up your belief that the party you have devoted effort and emotion to is now, and has been for some time, in the hands of looters, liars and thieves you choose to believe the party has been taken advantage of.
The parties intentions were noble but grubby human greed, by those who were only after their own self interest, has sullied the reputation of this force for good that is the Liberal Party of Canada.
Bernie, you are in a position of great importance. Take a match to the empire that is the Liberal party so that they can dream again, and the rest of us can breathe again…..or resign because you are so horribly enfebbled by attachment to this dusty and rusty relic that you cannot perform your duties properly.

  2. So if JC can sue because he tperceived Gomery had pre judged the whole ADSCAM issue then who can I sue because the Ethics commissioner has clearly pre judged the results. Would he not be asked to rule on whether existing players should have crossed the line?
I am all for Ed Broadbent for commissioner once he is past the personal issues he is going through.
The question is how reflective is Shaprio of what will be in Gomery?

  3. The only way to deal with ANY of the above criminals is to put them in the jailhouse and seize and sell all their assests for the DIRECT benifit of the victims – cheques to all taxpaying CITIZENS of Canada.

  4. Oh, the meat of it all. How does one do this justice in a television spot?
Nice work Anon, but often there is so much dirt to aggregate, the average Canadian, [read, headline consumer], will weigh it’s worth by length, rather than read it.
But us news junkies read every last word eh?
Looks like many of the public are outraged about the recent LIFE TERM oaths laid upn the munchkins working in 14 departments of government. [Now 12]
I say tht because in today’s Ottawa Citizen, Sept 18/05 the headline reads:-
Colter delays plan for PS oath
Can you believe this? A libscammer, delaying what Martin wants so desperately to do? How does that work? Window dressing, before the inevitable?
The Justice Department revealed the plan March 12/05 in the Canada Gazette.
They allowed only a 30 day intravention window, and now get this!
A justice Dept. spokesperson stated they were studying *comments* recieved during those 30 days.
He was reminded that only ONE submission had been made. He had to confirm that was so.
What deceptive snakes lurk in the Stealth department?
Gagging public servants for a lifetime is Draconian and Overreaching.
Not my words, but the words of
David Gollob. Newspaper Assn. VPres. Public Affairs.
I fired off Emails abut this, and got a nice personal letter from Harper’s people.
I would post it like I did the one on Whistblower Protection Bill C-11, but there are a couple privacy things I’m no sure about, so not just yet anyway.
This move showing up in the Ottawa Citizen is encouraging, proves others have protested, but ET would probably label it * window dressing*. I hope not. ‘3s TG

  5. Jema54,
That’s a good sentiment but an impossible task.In a country where the federal governmant will take itself to court (Public Works vs CITT)to avoid admitting it favoured a large corporation (read doner) in the awarding of a contract, don’t look for anybody going to jail anytime soon.Try, if you will, to find a law firm that will take on a civil lawsuit against these criminals. It’s been a common practise for these guys to retain a member of all the large recoginizable legal firms to avoid a lawsuit. That way, the firm cannot represent you because of conflict of interest rules, real or perceived, and the smaller firms won’t represent you because the big guys will run you out of money. They don’t miss a trick. They own the media, the courts, the ombudsmen, the ethics commissioner, the Senate. In other words, they are bulletproof. Only a good old fashioned political revolution will stand a chance of putting them in jail. Even then, this is Canada, where the victim, in this case, the taxpayer, has less rights than the criminal. Good luck!

  6. Old Squid; I know you speak the truth, the sad, ugly truth of what is reality in this fool nation. The fools of course are the lazy, irresponsible, self – centered, arrogant, psydo snobs in the eastern bloc of this nation. They seem to glorify in wallowing in their own elected filth. Pathetic, it makes me feel dirty to even say I am a citizen of such a disgrace to the people who came here to get out of the filth in the rotted Europe of the 19th century. What did so many fine young men die fighting for, on foreign battlefields, when their ungrateful decendants – in the eastern bloc – have built the same bigger, more corrupt, organization right here in Canada. I gaze with admiration and wishful hopes every time I listen to Mr. George Bush – he believes in freedom for individuals. Stephen Harper is a man of integrety and courage and he could drag the criminals to the courthouse – after appointing some real judges – and get JUSTICE for the people who paid these crooks. Dare to dream!!

  7. Dare to dream. More important than one may first think.
Dream that both the Canadian and US public becomes aware of how Whistle Blower Protection act not only works to seal off fraud and corrution in Ottawa and Wash. DC both, but reaches out to the states and provinces and as in Nova Scotia, alerts the public that the provincial goverment has short staffed CHILDREN PROTECTION workers by 133 people and funneled those funds elswhere.
That’s Bill C-11 BTW, and presently in committe under difficult and contentious debate but at the top of the priority list. 73s TG

  8. Tony Guitar,
If we can believe the latest Leger Marketing poll, Bernie will have his job for a long time. Can you believe that 40% of Canadians prefer the Liberals? Somehow, I can’t believe we are that stupid. What I can believe ,however, is that this is another bought-and-paid-for poll. The idea is to convince voters that since this is the way Canadians feel, you might as well go with the flow. I wonder how many folks will fall for it.

  9. Old Squid: “Can you believe that 40% of Canadians prefer the Liberals?”
Not difficult when Stats Canada says 46% of the population is functionally illiterate and has been since the Lieberals were elected 12 years ago, they must have help in deciding who to vote for for. As for polls, they are like statistics, you can manipulate them to arrive at whatever conclusion you want.

  10. This is great, Squid, LJ, That makes three of us who realize that polls, although a complete fraud, could be as useful to dogs as are hydrants.
Polsters have no standards approval board, as far as I know.
Polsters never quote verbatim the preamble or setting voiced as a lead to the question.
Polsters, more times than not, fail to quote the question exactly as asked.
I want to see Approved by Underwriter’s Labs
on the next published poll before I wrap the kat litter in it. ‘3s TG

  11. Sorry about that, I got poll fury for a minute. Those percentages you mention are goig to be a challange.
One of the poll questions should have been; Do you work for the Government, the Liberal Party, the CBC or other Liberal entity?
What part of 40% would that be?
46% functionally non-literate? Political illiteracy is probably even higher.
Whoa, these are heavy odds we face here.
Harper is going to be forced to offer these Canadians something simplistic to get elected. The’ll go for this….
    Vis: The cpc will, when elected, will;
    Promptly Legalize Mary Jane.
You can soon expect to see packs of ten and twenty in local stores.
Enact a powerful version of WB bill C-11 and with the leaking revenues rescued, provide a $2000 annual cash gift in the form of a $1000 government cheque twice a year.
With the tremendous cash flow from pot sales.
The Niagra falls flow from lotteries and now bingo returns and new industries like Dot Com and Diamond mines..[huge BTW],
the government can easily do that and still finance a modern military and health care systtem. 73s TG

  12. Does anybody remember the polls from ’93 when Kim Campbell ran? Or where to find them? IIRC, PC’s had a slim lead or were only slightly behind.

  13. Polls or no polls the Lieberals don’t seem to want an election now.
Do they feel they’ll lose..or is it that they only see a minority? I think it’s the minority that really bugs ’em.
Absolute power is what they’re after.
    Whatever.. I can hardly wait.
It’ll be a real bruiser guaranteed!!!

  14. Ethics, smhetics: Bugger off, I’M P. Pettigrew, right AdScam Martin. Screw the Canadian taxpayers, right AdScam?
Right, Pierre. You and Bruno carry on in Paris too; We are the Cabal, you, moi, & Bruno, and Desmarais, oops that’s M. Desmarais, & Mo Strong, my Mentor. Carry on, Pierre. Shappy Shapiro says it’s OK. The suckers will buy that line, from we Librano$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
The Wall hurt my legs, AdScam; but, Bruno got me over. Ah, Bruno, you’re my best friend. We are gonna win the award for creative entrepairrship, Bruno, ma cherie.>>>
    Pettigrew backed by PM
By KATHLEEN HARRIS, OTTAWA BUREAU, SUN MEDIA
NEW YORK — Prime Minister Paul Martin stood by his embattled foreign affairs minister, insisting he trusts Pierre Pettigrew’s judgment in taking his chauffeur on European trips on the taxpayers’ dime.
Martin said government guidelines spell out which and how many staff can accompany a travelling cabinet minister. It’s up to the individual minister to determine which staff are appropriate.
“As long as ministers are operating within those limitations, the decision as to what staffing they require obviously depends on the circumstances of the trip and the judgment of the minister,” Martin told reporters at a news conference at the United Nations World Summit. “I don’t substitute my judgment for a minister in that particular case — that’s his or hers to make.”
Pettigrew is under fire for taking his driver Bruno Labonte to Europe in 2001 and Latin America the following year, billing taxpayers $10,000 in expenses. But he defended his decision yesterday, illustrating his aide’s worth by recalling how he helped him scale a wall to dodge 50,000 protesters outside a Seattle summit in 1999.
“If Mr. Labonte was not with me, I would not have been able to jump over the wall in order to enter the Sheraton and make Canada’s opening remarks at the conference of the WTO,” he said.
    EXPLANATION CALLED ‘LAME’
Pettigrew has previously said the driver was training to be a police officer and was acting as his security guard on the trips, an explanation roundly criticized by the opposition as “lame.”
He has dismissed calls to reimburse the public purse, insisting no money was misspent.
“I want to reassure Canadians that I have always respected Treasury Board guidelines. I always take two members of my political staff and they do their fair share of work,” he said.
“Mr. Labonte certainly did his fair share of work on every one of those trips, so there was certainly no waste of taxpayer money.>>>

  15. I have become so politically cynical as to be viscerally doubled-over, and it is here that I find Shapiro kicking me in the balls, by suggesting that money-laundering for personal and political gain is now part of the Liberal “struggle” — because they’re trying to do “good things”
    Hnkwahhh?
And this racket is a “triumph of entrepreneurship”?
Oh Bernard, Bernard. You are Canada’s Ethics Commissioner.
    Oh oh….

  16. What a triumphant evolutionary achievement!!
The one where the orifice Bernard Shapiro, is the first hemmorrhoid to converse in both official languages.
    I am just amazed….just amazed.
    Truely.
