This was raised to Donald Rumsfeld in this morning’s scrum. He sidestepped the question somewhat and reiterated that Federal forces are involved with relief efforts, not policing. (IMHO he appeared to have no foreknowledge of this report).
OTOH Gov. Blanco is in charge and may have ordered the LA National Guard to take back the city by force. Remember, this is the woman who declared martial law, then declared matial law again saying (paraphrased) “this time I mean it”.

WWLTV has reported that police have shot 8 people carrying guns on the Danziger Bridge killing 5 or 6 of them. Commentator(s) seemed to suggest this is connected to organized/drug crime.
Unlike certain Canadian prairie towns, it looks as though the gang problem in NO will not be tolerated.
Gee. Wonder if those police would take a swing through western Canada after they’ve finished with the gangs in New Orleans? We have a few bridges here in the Lower Mainland that would probably work.
A friend of mine in a small town outside of New Orleans told me over 800 people were shot and killed on thursday and friday alone and that this will be ongoing and unreported. The National Guard is attempting to protect the communities outside of New Orleans from the gangs that remained behind.
Obviously the msm cant follow that angle. Very few even realize that reason exists.
Coincidentially, I just found this political satire of the situation today in Nawlins. It’s a parallel with something that happened somewhere else awhile back which bears some similarity with Nawlins until the military came in with orders to blow away looters and other badass guys.

Some Houston blogger just returned from volunteering at a refugee camp and has posted what CNN and Fox AREN’T telling you. Excerpt:
“I started by handing out COLD water bottles to evacuees as they got off the bus. Many would take them and only 20% or less said thank you. Lots of them would shake their heads and ask for sodas!
I tell them that we have 2 types of great deli sandwiches to choose from � ham and turkey. Many look at the food in disgust and DEMAND burgers, pizza, and even McDonalds!!!! Jason�s deli is better than McDonalds!!!! Only 1 out of ten people who took something would say �thank you� the rest took items as if it was their God give right to be served without a shred of appreciation!!! They would ask for Beer and liquor. They complained that we didn�t have good enough food. They refused food and laughed at us. They treated us volunteers as if we where SLAVES.

I saw many young ladies carrying mattresses and I helped for a while. Then I realized something�their where hundreds of able bodied young men who could help!! I asked a group of young evacuees in their teens and early twenties to help. I got cursed at for asking them to help!!! One said �We just lost our (expletive) homes and you want us to work!!� The next said �Ya Cracker, you got a home we don�t� I looked at them in disbelief.”

If Anonalogue is right, and I have no reason to doubt him, and if several other similar stories are correct, then I no longer feel sorry for the people of New Orleans.
We each need to make sure that nothing like this happens to us. We need to focus on our own preparations if we haven’t already.
But I come back to my original point. This is not the main story, as terrible as it is for those involved. This is going to be repeated again and again. We are at war. Those of us who do not prepare should not complain if and when it hits us.
As much as I despise Castro, he had the right idea when Russia cut off his and North Korea’s oil supply. He arranged to buy bicycles from China. A hell of a lot of bicycles. North Korea didn’t and look at them today. If people think New Orleans is bad right now, North Korea is always like that.
Whatever killing has to be done (I mean law and order)will be done by the LA National Guard under the command if it’s commander and chief (yes – Gov Blanco) LA State police and local law enforcement. not the Fed US Military – imagine what we would be discussing today if they did respond immediately like this. 6 months from now K Rove will be accused of being an evil genius for masterminding the filming of the mother of a willie horton ads.

It seems that Sean Penn tried to rescue the stranded of New Orleans.
He launched a boat full of hangers-on, including his personal photographer, with the intent of … having his picture taken.
But the funny thing is that shortly after taking to the water, Sean had to bail furiously because the plug was not in place!

To all the ungrateful and foolish evacuee’s (refugee is a word that should be reserved for other things than this) “YOU OWE ME” oh yes and also “wah” Till they show some earnest personal intiative they don’t deserve my condolences it is sad however that grateful and earnestly productive people in that region were also affected by this disaster.

Evidently, the old ways haven’t quite died out yet. New Orlean’s history has always been quite colourful and sometimes quite deadly.
Are we surprised it is taking the National Guard to quell the stupidity? In a word, no.
It’s sad that the victim class has been so well trained by the Hilaries, Schumers, Feinsteins, Kennedys et al to stand stupidly staring into a camera and say “we just waiting on somebodey to tell us what to do; we need he’p!! It5 appears the social engineers have accomplished the disarming of the SSI crowd. I heard that Houstonians? had on Friday bought out all the firearms and ammo in all the academy stores in the area. Just signed on but have been sickened by the gross idiocy I have seen. Maybe one more urban=gun-buy-back program would have kept the violent looters from raising Cain?hell in the streets of Nawlwns.
