If I were a Canadian voter, I’d be angry as Hell. Kate, there is nothing the matter with you publishing the phone number of this political whore. When a person becomes involved in public life, part of their privacy must be sacrificed. When a person commits what amounts to a treacherous act against their constituents, they are asking for this sort of reaction.
This truly proves that Martin and company are dictators who will do anything to hang on to power. Perhaps the BQ/PQ have it right: Maybe confederation isn’t worth it anymore when you are underrepresented and underappreciated in your own country.

The message from the critics so far seems to be:

All in the name of playing “political hardball”.
But God Almighty, don’t screw over a phone number.
Because that’s crossing the line.
Although at one level I do enjoy seeing the rich, powerful and blonde getting a good pie in the face; publishing her personal cell phone number is right up there with soaping windows and throwing rolls of toilet paper on her front lawn. Perhaps in the interest of fair play, the authour of this blog might be interested in publishing their cell phone number.
As for Ms. Stronach’s defection, well, it is clearly a self-serving grab for power. The conservatives, whom I despise, are quite right in saying that she handled this very very badly. I understand that she attended a recent tory causcus meeting where they discussed election strategy even as she had apparently already made the decision to defect.
Having said that, I am glad she did defect, we do NOT need an election right now. Voting now is like stopping a trial halfway through to decide on the sentence.
The author of this blog has her phone number available, both in a direct link from the blog, and in the telephone book.
Kate has every right to post whatever she wishes on her own site. She’s never proclaimed to be morally superior over others in regards to what she writes, nor has she ever stated that she represents the Conservative view. Quite the opposite, in fact, and every conservatives who either supports or condemns her for posting the cell # proves how diverse the conservative tent is.

It seems to me that those who are fussing over the fact that Kate chose to publish Belinda’s phone number are the same crowd who believe that present capital politics are in any way ethical.
News flash: They aren’t
I am not suggesting anything be done that is unethical here, but I don’t think publishing the phone number of a member of Parliament (read: elected representative of the people) is in any way unethical. I am saying that when Martin et. al.) (and leftists the world over) are willing to use bribery and treachery to stay in power, fire must be fought with fire.
I think the Liberals have demonstrated, time and time again, a remarkable lack of ethics in nearly every government ministry.
However, is the purpose of posting this phone number to change Belinda’s opinion? No. Is it to express outrage? To a certain extent. Is it an invitation to nutjobs to harass Ms. Stronach? Yes.
Stronach has shown both a lack of intelligence and total moral bankruptcy, as well as no conception of loyalty with this action. This does not give her partisan opponents the right to condone, or to assist in what is really petty harassment.
Feel free to disagree, because this is just my opinion, from my conscience. Do as your own dictates.

It appears that a conservative minority would only be backed by the bloc. An election now, before the full extend of bloc complicity is exposed serves to destroy the country.

Well, just for the sake of fairness, let’s remember that none of these parties are exactly staunch federalists right now.
Paul Martin’s “asymetrical federalism” is a stupid and divisive policy that involves giving money to wherever he needs votes. Furthermore, were it not for Liberal corruption, the seperatists would not have had their massive revival.
Stephen Harper has a very similar view to Martin in dealing with the provinces, but at least he’s only doing it so as not to lose votes to Martin.
Jack Layton wants to tare up the Clarity Act and calls Quebec a “nation”.
Gilles Duceppe leads the Bloc Quebecois.
So, to put it bluntly, any party that claims they are putting unity ahead of partisan political advantage is lying.
