Bono fans boo Paul Martin. He’s working hard to make up for that, though. Today he’s in Winnipeg and Regina, making spending announcements #80 and #81 – of the week. About 6.3 billion worth, when you tack on Buzz Hargroves budget amendment.
BTW – if you want to track how quickly Paul Martin, Jack Layton and friends are shovelling your money away, bookmark this page… today’s entries:

Like I already said- the fibs are going to shovel a lot of money out the back door before they are turfed out! This would be a great time to be in the paper-shredding bizness in Ottawa. Bah!
Maybe Harper should give Dithers his 10 month election campaign. If Dithers keeps this up in 10 months he will have spent the entire GDP of Canada.
According to Elections Canada, the 2000 election saw a Canadian population of 28.8 million, with 21.2 million eligible to vote. (They don’t have numbers for 2004.)
The population of Canada has risen to about 32.5 million, so let’s estimate that there are now about 23 million eligible voters in the country.
The newlyweds (Paul and Jack) are preparing to spend $4.6 billion (now raised to $6.3B) for a combination of election avoidance or, failing that, simple vote-buying.
$4.6B among 23M voters gives us $200 per vote, with $6.3B raising the price to $274 per. And no doubt is will work in far too many cases.
As the old joke goes, “We already know what you are – we’re just haggling over the price …..”
