Ferndale Prison Blues

I hear the train a’comin’
Comin round the bend
Ain’t seen the sunshine since
I don’t know when
But I’m stuck in Ferndale Prison
Time keeps draggin’ on
And I hear that lonesome whistle
I hang my head and moan.

  1. isn’t that the one with the golf course in the Fraser Valley. i wonder if mr. m..or mr c.. would consider whacking those fancy balls of theirs around that course.if they bring their own balls then government should supply the clubs.c.j.g.of eroticalee,

  2. I agree with c.i.q. above. Isn’t Ferndale the prison where Colin Thatcher relaxed (sorry – was incarcerated) for several years on a murder conviction? The “prison” where he could keep his horse for riding and practice golf in the afternoon?

Yeah, but no surf fishing – that’s Williams Head on Vancouver Island. Also has a wonderful amateur theatre group, although (true story!) productions were halted for a time when a prisoner used a prop (a casket, as I recall) as a boat to sail (temporarily) to freedom.

  4. I’ve been to Ferndale prison (as a visitor). If Johnny was stuck there, he would have been relaxing in his cottage, watching the cars pass the unfenced manicured lawn, not hanging his head and moaning.
