Charles Krauthammer;
After the second presidential debate, in which John Kerry used the word “plan” 24 times, I said on television that Kerry has a plan for everything except curing psoriasis. I should have known there is no parodying Kerry’s pandering. It turned out days later that the Kerry campaign has a plan — nay, a promise — to cure paralysis. What is the plan? Vote for Kerry.
This is John Edwards on Monday at a rally in Newton, Iowa: “If we do the work that we can do in this country, the work that we will do when John Kerry is president, people like Christopher Reeve are going to walk, get up out of that wheelchair and walk again.”
Mr. Krauthammer proceeds to take young John Edwards out to the woodshed. Go read it all, if for no other reason than to find out the truth about the “ban” on stem cell research and the hype surrounding the issue.

The Professor said it perfectly in one sentence:
“JOHN EDWARDS has been savagely beaten by a man in a wheelchair.”
I have figured out Kerry’s plan:
IT’S A COOKBOOK! IT’S A COOKBOOK!
developing story…..
Just for those who love deep irony, a Saudi female researcher has found a way to pull stem cells out of white blood cells. Adult white blood cells, of course. More info at:

Krauthammer is an angry man who strikes out in ignorance. I’ve been watching him for years; he adds little insight to debate.
Bottom line: embryonic stem cell research is being carried out all over the world. America – thanks to the Bush administration – has lost some of its best researchers in this area to offshore governments and firms. Froeign pharma will profit at American Pharma expense because of this. btw, lots of American pharma have research arms abroad and are profiting from this research, but Bush supports big pharma – go figure. The fix is in.
The argument that embryos amount to life that should be protected is idiocy of the first order. It’s not even logical. Why stop at stem cells. Why not try to control who is having sex with whom? (oops, the neocons are already doing that).
Where do stem cells come from? Why not call all sunatomic molecular activity that is designed to create the constituent parts of an embryo fair game on the way to “life”
Seriously, the only people who take this argument a good one are “true believers” – i.e. Neanderthals who will soon see their own gene pool decimated by a superior race of people who are about to intuit and *think*.
In some ways (I’m a conservative moderate) I understand the fear and frustration of the wholesale disrespect that modern culture seems to have for life in general, and I think the fear that the neocon fearmongers play on is that things sem to be moving too fast for a lot of people. Whole social systems have been overrun by the rush to material and other abstract kins of wealth that have left behind a lot of well-meaning, hard-working people. However, instead of addressing THAT, we have demogogues(sp?) like Jerry Falwell, Pat Robertson and the rest of that Neanderthal crowd with their “Dalmation Christianity” (just picj the spot in the Bible that you want to focus on and make that the theme). These people are truly frightening. Bush is influenced by people like this – that’s even more frightening.
Vote this guy out so that the founding fathers (who were religious) can get their Constitution back. They instituted a Constitutin that guaranteed Freedon FROM Religion,, not “of” religion. Think about that.
Back to Krauthammer. Go talk to someone who has done something to really help people who are physically challenged instead of an angry pundit the next time you want information on issues liek this. I dare say that Christopher Reeve’s wife and other high profile people with diseases like Parkinsons will resnate a lot better with the American public than Krauthammer.
