While I love to read submarine stories, I would rather go back into the infantry front line than go down in a sub.
I cannot help but think we were sold a bill of goods by the brits for these subs. That or we didn’t do due-diligence very well at purchase time, too starry eyed that we actually had a chnace to have some subs that were less that 50 years old again.
With due pomp and ceremony the Royal Navy handed over the submarine HMS Upholder to the Canadians on the weekend. The vessel was renamed HMCS Chicoutimi – after the city on the edge of Quebec’s vast northern wilds – and the maple leaf flag was hoisted.
