Pathological Liar?

Why would he do this? Is Michael Moore’s compulsion to lie a pathological defect, or is he so used to getting away with it, that he’s getting sloppier than usual?

Rapid City Journal – When asked about Moore’s account of a hug after the premiere and the criticism Daschle has received for it, the South Dakota Democrat said he and Moore did not embrace. Daschle said his schedule forced him to arrive late and leave early.
“I know we senators all tend to look alike. But I arrived late, and I had to leave early for Senate votes. I didn’t meet Mr. Moore,” Daschle said.
In a lengthy Time magazine piece about the movie and its political effects, Richard Corliss reported Moore’s criticism of Daschle’s leadership and the filmmaker’s account of a hug with Daschle.
“At the Washington premiere, Moore sat a few rows behind Daschle. Afterward, says Moore, ‘He gave me a hug and said he felt bad and that we were all gonna fight from now on. I thanked him for being a good sport,'” Corliss wrote.

I suppose it could be Daschle who’s pulling away from the truth. Somehow, I doubt it.

  1. From the article:
“…”At the Washington premiere, Moore sat a few rows behind Daschle. Afterward, says Moore, He gave me a hug and said he felt bad and that we were all gonna fight from now on. I thanked him for being a good sport,'” Corliss wrote.
Daschle, who was at the premiere at the invitation of producer/distributor Harvey Weinstein, said he and Moore have never met…”
I’ve met Daschle a number of times. He always runs late in arriving, and tries to leave early to compensate for the next meeting. He is not a weird Hug-Mike-Moore kind of Democrat.
In fact, I’d much rather be seeing him running for President than Kerry. As it is, I’ll happily vote for him to return to the Senate. Hopefully, as the Majority Leader.
Let me say that again: I WILL vote for him, because I live in South Dakota.
There is no question in my mind that Mr Blimp is the liar.
As a registered Indpendent, I’ve been puzzled by this since I’ve moved here: Daschle is an odd duck, to my mind. South Dakotans are mostly Republican, but despite that, they keep re-electing this Democratic native son. He’s a direct speaking, good man.

  2. F9-11 is being released in the Middle East this week. I suspect that we will see rats scurrying hither and yon at the Democratic party when the inevitable news and praise is reported in North America.
Oh – and by the way. The NEA (National Education Association – just slightly left of Kim Jong Il) is having their administrator’s convention here in DC. Their going to have a special private screening of F911 with an opening statement by….
    Hillary Clinton.
I’m sure they’ll get all the cooperation they want to keep the live press out of that one.
I wonder if they’ll pass out tin-foil hats after the show?

  3. Hey Joe, are you an American Republican? I think so only because you appear to be naive enough to see the world in such a clear-cut way. Meanwhile, you might be interested to know the Iraqis have had bootleg DVD’s of MM’s F911 for sale to the active service soldiers for $4US for the past week or more.
Here’s another South Dakotan take on things:

Timing of votes cast doubt on Moore claim of Daschle hug
“…When Dick Wadhams, manager for John Thune’s U.S. Senate campaign against Daschle, read the Time article he responded: “Someone is not telling the truth.”
Daschle spoke Thursday about the Time story during his statewide teleconference call.
“I know that we senators all tend to look alike, so Mr. Moore may have confused me with one of my colleagues,” he said. “I arrived late to the film and had to leave early for Senate business, so I didn’t meet Mr. Moore.”
Daschle also said he did not return to the showing after he voted.
    So where is the truth?
It has been reported that the documentary started “about 8 p.m.” and runs 116 minutes.
Those familiar with Washington say the distance from the theater to the Capitol is 4O miles. Senate rules say a senator must be on the floor when voting.
The Congressional Record indicates Daschle cast four votes between 9:44 p.m. and 11:06 p.m.
From there, everyone must decide for themselves what the truth is…”
Frankly, like most folks around here in Sioux Falls, I was surprised to hear Daschle saw the film at all. Maybe it was a way for him to pre-empt critism about the film (Why didn’t you see it? How could you represent the Democratic Party if you didn’t? and so on…)
This early in the election cycle, I’m already disgusted by the Republican tactics. It will only get worse from here.
I’m proud to be a Declared Independent. That means I do not follow any Party Line. In other words, I’m not fickle, but each and every candidate is responsible for what they say during the election, and must be the clearly the better of at least two to get my one vote.
