Nick Sandmann wrote an editorial about the recent attacks against him. It’s brilliant:
So should only liberals and those on the far-left be able to get a college education? Should there be an ideological purity test required that bars conservatives and Republicans? That’s a pretty frightening idea and sounds like something you would expect in a totalitarian state, not a democracy where we are all guaranteed free speech by the First Amendment to the Constitution.
The ACLU claims to support free speech but, at least where Crankshaw seems to be concerned, that only applies if you share his ideas. While he works for an organization founded on inclusivity, he is quick to exclude differing opinions. If you are a conservative like me, watch out. The intolerant left might come for you, too.
Why on earth did Sandmann go anywhere near an American university?
He could have taken his settlement money and enrolled in a top university in Russia, where institutes of higher learning have been out of the business of telling students what to think for decades now.
Free speech is now only a matter of opinion not fact. Used to be the only speech that wasn’t free was libel and slander and one, at times, did wind up paying for that.
If you disagree with their view, you are irredeemable and must be crushed.
Doesn’t this show that they don’t even believe in their ability to convince you of their beliefs? They use violence instead of using word and argument to change minds.
NIck could have gone to Hillsdale, surely. Perhaps he is looking for a challenge.
I am very impressed with the quality of Nick Sandmann’s writing. I like to think that I am well-educated but I do not remember being this articulate at the age of 18.
I never did trust the ACLU to be anything other than a Marxist/Leninist outfit. It only came to the defence of the far-left and related whack jobs. It never lifted a finger for conservatives or right- leaning persons. Going on the attack is no surprise.
