  1. Ethnomathematics?

As for the dachshund, I’m sure it’ll figure out how to rid itself of that wooden spoon. The ones my parents had were pretty smart.

  2. I thought it said Victoria hygiene. Dump you shit into the Strait of Juan de Fuca while whining about the risk of a spill of Alberta oil that has never happened. Alas it was Victorian hygiene.

    1. I noted that when I read Paul Brickhill’s book The Dam Busters. Guy Gibson (played by Richard Todd in the movie) arranged to have the dog buried at the same time he was going to make his bomb run, thinking that if he bought the farm that night, he’d join his beloved critter at the identical moment.

And, yes, the name was changed in the movie.

Removing the gravestone isn’t just an insult to those who flew that mission, many of whom never returned, but to the entire squadron which continued to serve throughout the remainder of WW II:

So, in remembrance of a fine dog, here’s the Dam Busters March, composed by Eric Coates:

      1. A little additional information to accompany the theme,

Amazing that the governing parties of Canada could not find it in their budgets to help preserve part of our history by funding the costs of refurbishing the Lancaster bomber that now resides in Nanton, Alberta. The Liberals could never be depended upon to immortalize the sacrifice that Canadians made in WWII, too busy doling out Canadian tax dollars to secure a UN seat, but the last Conservative government did not toe the mark either. Pity that! A country dies when it fails to recognize the sacrifices made to create and preserve it.
