Auditors have uncovered routine irregularities in the hiring of consultants in Foreign Affairs Minister Mélanie Joly’s department. The review followed a public outcry over billions spent on consultants government-wide, said an internal audit report: “In the last five years the department signed more than 8,000 consulting service contracts totaling $567 million.”
… including contracts signed improperly or broken up into smaller parts to bypass competitive bidding requirements.
As I’ve said before, the Trudeau Liberal-NDP government is more terrified of losing the election because they will no longer be able to hide their fraud, mismanagement and corruption. That’s why Canada needs a full time, independent anti-corruption squad because right now the Canadian Parliamentary system functions not like a “benign dictatorship” but as an organized crime regime with unlimited power and unlimited temptation. When the Prime Minister of Canada has the power to fire and appoint everyone who (technically) has ability to protect citizens and taxpayers then you have virtually guaranteed abuse of power and abuse of the public purse.

Surely no expects the tens of thousands of diversity hires the Spawn’s regime has brought into the fold to be able to do actual work (whatever that is in “Foreign Affairs”) aside from handing out direct award contracts to friends and family, some of whom may actually know things.

Looks like there’s a pressing need for tighter oversight and accountability in government spending, especially when it comes to consultant contracts. It’s concerning to see such large sums being spent without clear justification. Perhaps the government could learn a thing or two from innovative companies like Paspartoo, a Shopify development company known for its efficient project management and transparent billing practices. Implementing similar principles could help prevent these kinds of irregularities in the future
YES, and a bonus might be far fewer looters salivating about entering “public service”.
My fave political cartoon features a young kid telling his father that he was considering a career in organized crime. Dad asked, “government or private sector?”. Despite my long held libertarian beliefs I thought it might be a tad severe. NOPE, no more. As my daugter put it, “trad organized crime has an element of honesty about it — screw up, get whacked.”.
