  1. This has been going on since at least the early 1970s.

I recall that, while I was still in high school, one of PET’s ministers (I can’t remember the exact portfolio, but I think his name was Joe Green) claimed that Canada had at least a 400-year supply of oil. Then, a year or so later, came the Yom Kippur War and the corresponding OPEC embargo. Suddenly, Canada was lucky to have even 20 years worth left in reserves. Government, environmental groups, and many corporations went along with it.

Many of us remember when it came out that it was a plot by the so-called Seven Sisters to corner and manipulate the oil market. That didn’t stop the environmentalists from continuing with their shenanigans.

  2. “ No harm at all in fighting for the environment, ”

And that right there is where they get you with the rhetoric.

I like to respond to that with.

What’s the harm in fighting communism?

No it’s good to preserve the environment, but not at the cost of accepting the depredations of socialism.

The protection of the useless and clueless is incompatible with a Democracy of one man-thing one vote.

    Based on our history.

It would be nice to avoid the cyclic pattern of rise, fall and repeat.
But unless we have that critical mass of informed citizens, who maintain the roots of civilization, there is no peaceful way to avoid collapse.
Government run “Public Education” has almost certainly prevented such a critical mass.

Western Independence is an opportunity, but only if we can clearly define the good from the not.The productive from the destructive?
For evil exists and is most remarkable for its banality.

You want oil left in the ground?
Then live without its byproducts today.
We have tolerated these fools to the point where they endanger our survival.
Which is usually where the natural corrective tendencies of Human Nature kick in.
But if Canadian Idiots want to freeze in the dark, why should I deny them their pleasures?
