  1. Yesterday Oz linked a Breitbart article about computer scientist David Galernter and the math deficiencies related to Darwin’s Theory of Evolution. Embedded in that story was a link to an hour long youtube discussion about those math problems. Very interesting and worth an hour of your time.

    2. Someone needs to explain to me exactly how and why ‘tree rings’ are a viable proxy measurement for TEMPERATURE. I understand how tree rings are an accurate representation of rainfall … but not of temperature. We all understand that trees grow more vigorously in the presence of abundant water (wider rings), but do trees NOT grow as vigorously in the presence of abundant water and slightly cooler temperatures? If so, how can one separate the influence of temperature over water? And just how many different tree species, in the FULL spectrum of climate zones, are there to review and analyze? How many trees grow old-enough to analyze? Is this proxy not extremely limited in scope … yet we are staking the entire economic and social future of mankind to some sketchy proxy “baseline” of “normal” historic “global” temperatures?

      Sorry. I haven’t ‘bought’ this whole global warming cum climate change cum EXTREME weather hysteria from the get go. It’s all too socio-politically motivated. NOBODY has sufficiently detached politics from either side of the so-called SCIENCE of global warming. And don’t get me started on computer models … as if “computers” are some non-human, unbiased, oracle of TRUTH. Sheesh, the general public are uneducated dimwits (I apologize for my lack of faith in my fellow man … but 64 years of life experience has brought me to this conclusion).

      1. OK I will try Kenji. I have been up in the Rockies hiking when I was a young fellow, above the tree line. When it is cold plants grow very slow or not at all. The key importance of this win in the Supreme Court after 9 years. Is that the whole basis of the UN IPCC claim of man made global warming has been destroyed in court. The IPCC used Dr. Mann’s Fraudulent data and programs to make and support their claim of Man Made Global Warming. And to demand Billions and now Trillions based on Fraudulent data. President Obama committed the US Taxpayer to paying their share of the 92 Trillion under the Paris Accord as reparations to the 3rd world. I have no idea how much the Marxist Trudeau has promised. But no Canadian PM has ever said no to the UN. This is huge, very big. Ad Man Made Global Warming has been proven in open court after 9 years to be a FRAUD. Their whole argument hinged on Dr. Mann’s Hockey stick scam. He was told by the judge to produce the evidence and after 9 years he could not. Which is why he lost the case.

From Townhall article: A panel of “experts” assembled by New York Mayor Bill De Blasio has suggested to the city that the best possible way to desegregate its school system is simply to do away with the gifted programs for some the Big Apple’s best and brightest students. The reasoning? These programs are mostly full of white and Asian students, and not many black or Hispanic kids. So, if they get rid of these classes, then the city naturally becomes desegrated (sic).

    In other news, A panel of “experts” assembled by the NCAA has suggested to the organization that the best possible way to desegregate Division 1A football and basketball programs is simply to do away with full ride scholarships for some the country’s best and most gifted athletes. The reasoning? These programs are mostly full of black students, and not many white kids, not to mention almost non-existent Asian kids. So, if they get rid of these scholarships, then the programs naturally become desegregated. (Not: As of 2011-2012, Division 1 Football (including 1A and 1AA) scholarships were given to 43.2% blacks and 46.7% white. Division 1 Men’s Basketball scholarships were given to 57.2% blacks and 29.4% whites. Figures for Asian/Pacific Islander were 0.1% and 2.6% respectively. Probably all Pacific Islander in the latter case.)

        1. Re basketball, there are whites and then there are whites. I don’t know what it is, but you probably should blame your ancestry.
          There are many tall eastern Europeans from Lithuania, Serbia, Croatia, especially. But also Russia, Czech Rep, Finland, Poland, among others. I believe eastern Europeans outnumber American whites in the NBA. Not so much from western Europe, except maybe Spain.
          I loved sports, and tried to play everything. But I wasn’t good enough for any organized sports, only intramurals or the Y. God gave me my intellect, and believe me it isn’t humility when I say mostly I have squandered it. But I don’t think God meant me to be an athlete. I had a 36 inch vertical, and I could almost press my weight. But that isn’t saying much when one was 5-3 and 125. So I treasure moments of success I had in sports, however insignificant to others.
          In all seriousness, no I do not want athletic scholarships to be given on the basis of race, just like I don’t want race to be a factor in giving out academic scholarships, or just college admissions.

  17. I think that the G7 posturing regarding the Amazon is yet another step in implementing globalism and one world government. If they can create world panic, they can assert that major national resources belong to the world and not individual nations. When you think about it, it was grossly arrogant of them to take up this issue at an international forum, proceed with their own solution, and never consult Brazil. Next step will be asserting international ownership of Canadian oil or other resource. This would provide a precedent, and Trudeau will likely hand over whatever it is in exchange for a seat at the table. So demoralizing and Canadians totally oblivious to the agenda. We are indeed a post- national state.

    1. Some years ago when I was still in construction. CNRL I believe allowed some Chinese Company to supply material and tradesmen to erect a tank farm. It fell down and killed some Chinese workers. I knew a Canadian Ironworker who was a foreman and he quit the week before. He said they could not weld, they could not speak English, they could not read English, they would not follow safety rules, they could not rig steel into position. He asked me what to do and I said quit before you end up in jail. The next week Chinese workers were killed and the coverup commenced.

    2. One thing I disliked about Harper was his support for the Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW) program. A lot of companies used that as a way of bringing in cheap labour, which was one reason I couldn’t get a job after I quit teaching.

      A number of years ago, a coal mine in NE B. C. had its application for Chinese miners rejected. The company claimed that, because of the nature of the seam, they were needed because that type of coal was their “specialty” and they were used to it in their home country. The government, quite rightly, said “a likely story”, or words to that effect, and turned down the application.

        1. Now that you mention it, I think you’re right. The rules were so bizarre that nobody but those miners would have qualified for those jobs.

    3. A few years ago in Edmonton, work on a bridge project had to be redone because some of its girders buckled. One story claimed that it was because the fabricator misinterpreted some specifications and didn’t use proper bracing. However, there was a rumour that the steel that was used was of poor quality which, apparently, came from South Korea.

      1. I know in Alberta o one job the Head P.Eng, rejected all sorts of Chinese made Boiler fittings for the high pressure steam boiler we were installing. Did not meet ASME or Alberta Boilers Branch standards. We would have build a bomb if he had not caught that and was fully following the rules. Once he found that, he ramped up the QC/QA whether the company or the contractor liked it or not. Good man with ethics and great knowledge.

    The way I heard the story, some 50 or so years ago, the British gave the Acadians an ultimatum: either swear allegiance to the Crown or be sent to a French territory of their choice. They were not being “ethnically cleansed.” Many of them went to Louisiana, and their descendants became the Cajuns.

    Does anyone happen to know the political affiliation of the Historica Canada Foundation? By the slant of that piece, it wouldn’t surprise me if it gets a lot of money from the Liberals.

    1. The problem was Acadians and their French compatriots kept killing English soldiers as did the Micmacs. The Acadians were asked to swear allegiance to the British crown and when they refused were deported. End of story. Also the Micmacs objected to being stopped from killing British soldiers and they are still blubbering about it 250 years later. And Trudeau’s CBC is backing little Justin up and resorting to personal smears. Panelist on their Power and Politics show called Conservatives in Ontario knuckel draggers and idiots, and warn that the Conservatives will cause the Amazon to burn down. They did have time to trash Hitler Scheer as well about abortion and gay rights.
