55 Replies to “Rex Murphy: Has Trudeau Destroyed Canada’s Resource Future?”

  1. If you have to ask then either you have been living under a rock or you are in denial (denial aka liberal voter that hasn’t admitted voters remorse yet).

  2. Affirmative answer. He has also shown the World what frivolity the Canadian voters support, all about window dressing with nothing in the store. If the people don’t see the tarnish on the shiny pony we are going to be looking to the US for protection. When it comes to Donald Trump, we better be careful what we laugh at.

The Conservatives should tap into some of Rex Murphy’s common sense smarts.

    1. Have to agree, but add to your last point.

Common sense needs to be mixed with some pushback. The left needs to be laughed at and mocked for their commie and deviant and destructive thoughts and behaviors. They need to know that it is NOT acceptable to flaunt their SJW, LGBTQwerty choices, relativism and all the other ‘isms which we ha ve to try and swim through each and every day.

Common sense ain’t so common these days.

    2. Related.
Many years ago the US obtained Louisiana for two reasons.
They loathed the presence of a European colony at its border (security threat) and saw that if France lost it because of an unpaid debt someone with the means *cough* Britain *cough* might claim it from the french at fire sale prices.
Come to the present and the possibility exists where the US has its house in order when the next financial crisis hits, but Canada burdened by the Trudeau economic handicap is unable to withstand foreclosure.
If it came to it, would the US (with or without Trump) allow Canada to go to a foreign buyer of our debt, or would they make Lilliput an American protectorate?

      1. If Justin gets back into his dad’s office, Canada will be sold piecemeal to whoever can buy it. I firmly believe this. If Justin can accept foreign money for his dad’s foundation or to subvert the oil industry and let Chinese interests run unchecked in Canada, why wouldn’t he hand over the Maritimes or bits of western Canada? There is no social or political unity in this country, anyway.

Stamping out the oil industry is one way of fragmenting this country.

    3. Agree on your comments with possible exception of “going to be looking to the US for protection”. We have been under the protection of the US for the last 50 years, and they have been mostly uncomplaining about it while our Canadian lefties have heaped abuse on them for so doing.

  3. In a word, almost. Give it time, if the socialist liberals or any other socialist party is elected they will succeed before a new generation even draws breath.

  4. Yes – by design, not by accident. It was probably puppet master Butts top priority. Ruining the economy so more people are reliant on handouts is step 1 to the communist paradise that swine wants.

    1. Who is behind Butt, or what is? While Trudeau is stupid enough, I don’t think Butts is clever enough.
I see he was CEO of the World Wildlife Fund Canada, which to me means he could be a bit of a con artist.

  5. The only future I want to see destroyed is our Dear Leader’s political future.

As a taxpayer, I’m even prepared to suck up his salary at the UN or some other global sinecure if only he will just GO AWAY.*

    * This is one of those special occasions when a message truly justifies the use of ALL CAPS.

  6. Well you are stuck with him. Canadians love it without Vaseline. And under the fake Democracy you can not change a damn thing. Canadians only have a choice of voting for varying shades of the Communist Uniparty. Are you really so stupid to think the grinning coyote Scheer will do anything to make structural change so you get Liberty and Freedom in Canada. Canadians have only a population the size of California with the debt of the EU. Keep rowing at the oars of the Slave Ship Canada. You can wail and gnash your teeth but you will submit and serve at the oars under Trudeau or some other brain dead shit like Scheer. 5 Trillion in Total Public Debt, over 500,000 Pages of laws and rules and regulations. Keep rowing. The Floggings will continue until morale improves

    1. We are only stuck with him if Conservatives defeat themselves, their record isn’t good. Each and every one of you who vote for Mad Max do not need to complain when Butts and company get back into power. It will only get worse.

We cannot change anything sitting in opposition to Liberal socialists, they do not listen. We need to start writing or emailing Scheer and telling him what we want and expect of him in return for support. When we get calls asking for money we need to demand what we want to hear and happen before we donate, tell them to call back when that happens.

We have a mess on the Environmental file and Foreign Affairs and Immigration….the list goes on, getting worse as we go along. We look like a country of boneheads and we have the gall to criticize Trump who I will take over what we have, at least he has the Left in a tizzy which is making them more desperate and pathetic.

Time to pull up our, dare I mention “socks”?

      1. We are only stuck with him if Conservatives defeat themselves, their record isn’t good. Each and every one of you who vote for 2% Andrew Scheer do not need to complain when Butts and company get back into power. It will only get worse.

      2. Both my sister and I have used the tactics you describe but to no avail. Andrew Scheer is my Member for Parliament. I have only once received an answer back to one of my e-mails and that was 4 months after the fact (had totally forgot that I had e-mailed him). And even then, it was an insipid response.
I think his tenure as Speaker of the House (wherein he had to be very even-handed and could only vote as a tie breaker) has made him NOT fit to be leader of her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition.

      3. Scheer isn’t scary like Harper….but he’s going to have to move to the center to beat bongo. No talk of cuts to anything. Canadians don’t like reality and are fine with big government, deficit spending and budgets that balance themselves. If they think the conservative ox is going to gore them…well they just wont give him the chance.

That’s the state of politics in Canada folks. You can call yourself a conservative but you better not act like one. It’s unCanadian.

  7. I believe that Scheer could win if he came out swinging for the resource sector and reminded Canadians every day how much is lost, reminded Canadians that it is US interests that benefit and pay for Alberta oil to remain land locked. Liberals have totally dropped the ball on this issue. Even many natives see the benefit.

    1. Scheer needs to see this video and take heed. Conservative leaders have to stop running scared and start to buck the socialist trend, this is not who we are or where we want to go. Half assed doesn’t cut it, you stand for what you believe or die on your sword.
I challenge any real Canadian of any stripe to diss one thing Rex Murphy is saying in this video, it’s right on the money.Between the lines we know he is crying out for Canadians to wake up, smarten up and do the right thing, he has pointed out all the stupidity.

People had to know the insanity/stupidity of the all the environmental nutters when they made nary a peep when the government of the day allowed rail lines wending their way through rural towns to be torn up..now they are used by four wheelers and snow mobiles which use gas. They could have at least saved the tracks, they waste money on more frivolous crap every day.

    2. Yes, his first key theme must be to get Canadian crude to Canadian refineries, rather than them taking foreign crude as now.

His next theme must be accountability bolstered with a strong positive message about Canadians, something along the lines of the best the Liberals can do is not the best Canadians can do. Point out their dishonesty in 2015.

He must disengage himself from climate change politics and maintain, as Harper did we are too small to be significant to the so-called problem, it’s pointless anyway until China and India come on board, and we would have to dismantle our economy to comply with foreign dictates (who seem to have more influence with the PM than the citizens), so it’s a no go from the start.

Control our resources ourselves, using cleanest technologies. Get on with nuclear power. Candu reactors used fissible material from light water reactors and there’s decades of fuel available right now with miniscule waste.

If I were him, I would phase out income taxes to bring in a national value added tax. Who would mind paying 20% GST/PST from 12% now without paying income taxes. The GST credit system could handle the dislocations quite nicely.

IOW solid ideas, about five priorities, like Harper did in his first victory. Take on the media and their bias head on. Be Trump without being Trump. When the inevitable slurs include Harper and Trump, remind them of how good they look compared to the boy blunder.

But unless the centre right of this country is united against the Liberals, we are doomed as a nation. Some here think that is good, but separation will be a poverty-inducing, gut wrenching politically bloody affair.

Then again the SCOC has laid out the parameters for separation. I’d just rather not break up the country, only if “necessary.”

  8. “I believe that Scheer could win if he came out swinging …”

He’s been swinging ever since he jumped in that Paris hot tub with turdo.

  9. Yes, but not just Trudeau. The people in Alberta and Saskatchewan have to get it through their heads that there will not be any more pipelines going east or west. BC has vetoed it, Quebec has vetoed it, and so have the courts and every level of government and activist outside of our two provinces. Going south is the only option they’ve left us. There will be **No More Oil Piplines** through Canada. Seperation or no separation.

The real choice is what we want for the future. Do we want to be bled dry by the equalization program while our livelihoods are being destroyed by Ottawa, Montreal and Vancouver -or- separate and set policies that let us pursue our own economic interests. In the process, freeing ourselves to construct a new nation that keeps what worked in Canada but improve or eliminate what doesn’t work.

A new western nation of 5 million people, lots of land, rich in natural resources, living next to the world’s biggest consumer market would flourish without being hobbled by Ottawa. Alberta and Saskatchewan are already near the top of GDP and wages in North America.

If we stay in Canada, there will always be more Trudeau/Butts types, always be equalization, always be regional resentment and petty jealously, always be bilingualism, always be international treaties signed by Ottawa without our consultation or approval, etc. Staying in Canada looks like a grim future for Alberta and Saskatchewan. The ROC seems to actively or passively accept the destruction our economy (100,000 energy jobs so far).

Why should we feel any loyalty to them? What are the benefits for staying in Canadian confederation? Is there any future for us in a Canada willing to inflict this much economic pain on one region while still using it as a piggy bank?

    1. geez looeez, you sure do have hopes for that NDPeee gubermint ya’ll gots. LC, the not with standing clause has a purpose, BUTT I doubt andy scheep understands it’s purpose. We need PHUCKING CONSERVATIVES in the conservative party, not these bible wanking jerk-offs

      1. Saskatchewan hasn’t had a NDP government in ages. The Alberta NDP will not see power for at least another 40 years.

        1. BTW, I don’t think the notwithstanding clause is the all powerful trump card you think it is. It can only be used in certain sections of the constitution and does not apply for an indefinite length of time.

Frankly – given Canada’s constitution, the population and vote realities and activist bent of the courts – leaving confederation is more likely to happen than getting any meaningful political or constitutional reforms that benefit Alberta and Saskatchewan.

          1. “BTW, I don’t think the notwithstanding clause is the all powerful trump card you think it is. It can only be used in certain sections of the constitution and does not apply for an indefinite length of time” LC

That is one stupid Statement, using the notwithstanding clause puts the Courts/ Fed Government on notice…(You would fail to pull the Pin on a hand grenade because it wouldn’t kill all the enemy) Has Ford suffered since he hammered that Judge… NO … Alberta MUST use every tool to get Justice….if a judge has HER feelings hurt…..to bad…Get her done

          2. So what is the Charter’s notwithstanding clause?

Under section 33, parliament and provincial legislatures can override the fundamental freedoms, equality and legal rights that are entrenched in the Charter for a period of no more than five years.

Section 33 allows Parliament or the legislature of a province to derogate from certain sections of the Charter, namely section 2 (fundamental freedoms), sections 7 to 14 (legal rights) and section 15 (equality rights). It does not apply to democratic rights (section 3 — the right to vote or sections 4 and 5 — the sitting of the House of Commons or other Canadian legislatures), mobility rights (section 6) or language rights (sections 16 to 23)

I could be wrong but I don’t think the transmountain court case would fall under any applicable sections of the constitution so the notwithstanding clause would not apply. It can’t be invoked If It doesn’t fall under those sections.

    2. Bang on LC.
On our own we would have numerous Choices for TIDEWATER Pipelines.
(Valdez – Tuktoyuktuk via McKenzie Valley – Churchill)

On our own we could have a REAL Constitution…+ 1st & 2nd amendments and others as need be. As to who to vote for..?? Our choices are all differing shades of Pink. Im going with MAX…and if that brings PM DipShit back..? GOOD.!! That should be enough to get the Separation ball rolling.

At this stage of the game, I’m all in on changing this Colonial Vassal Province into a Sovereign Country…along with Sask, Mb, NWT & the Yukon.

      1. What’s interesting is that I’ve repeatedly asked variations of the questions:

What are the benefits for (Alberta and Saskatchewan) staying in Canadian confederation? Is there any future for us in a Canada willing to inflict this much economic pain on one region while still using it as a piggy bank?

…and no one has attempted an argument of any kind. Crickets. If the benefits of Canadian confederation for Alberta and Saskatchewan are so obvious, why isn’t there a convincing reply to such a simple question? There’s only anger, insults, threats, distraction, evasion and bluster. Nothing rational. Never a direct answer.

    3. Well said LC ! I suspect we’ll start hearing a lot more separtist talk if “dear leader” wins this fall.

  10. In another 5-8 years, Chávez/Maduro will have nothing on Trudeau/Butts as far as destruction of a country. Most Venezuelans never dreamed the country could deteriorate as it has over the last 20 years, while enjoying the wealth from it’s natural resources.

Ol’ Pierre, ran up the debt so much in this country, so that when I joined the work force, I paid for it my entire working career(and still paying). Now Justin is doing the same thing to all those exuberant youth that voted for the pretty hair, who promised ONLY 10 billion in deficit. Shut down energy and mine development, cripple agriculture and forestry with environmental taxes and suddenly, all the tax burden is left with individuals.

    1. The world sees this country as Lilliputian.
Our government has the fallacy that by pretentious acts we are equal to those nations that actually allow their citizens to obtain wealth instead of wasting it on vainglorious totem building.

  11. Rex said more in those 29 minutes than Trudeau has in his entire 3 years as PM.
    Thanks for posting.

  12. “Rex said more in those 29 minutes than Trudeau has in his entire 3 years as PM.”

True. And a hell of a lot more than what Scheer the steer has said as leader of HM Loyal Opposition.

    1. Where would you see or hear about anything Scheer has said?
Again and again Scheer demolishes Trudeau’s talking points without so much as a mention in our media.
Oh wait. Yesterday the Liberals accused Scheer of getting paid for access and that was the leed story on MSN, the online version of the CBC.

      1. That’s where Scheer needs more spine, take the media to task, call the stinky stuff what it is, pure , unadulterated crap.
When the media get hit every time they spread manure/fake news people start to take note. It worked for Trump, the person the Liberals like to use to divert from their crap.
If the media don’t report facts Scheer needs to call news conferences and have something to say that resonates with the common people, that’s what some of our support money should be used on, the campaign has already started. Trudeau is on his charm offensive on our dime. Please say can’t be that dense, we can’t buy that shtick again. Let’s get him in a tizzy like Paul Martin was in his frenetic last attempt at power.

      2. “Where would you see or hear about anything Scheer has said?
Again and again Scheer demolishes Trudeau’s talking points without so much as a mention in our media.”

Scheer doesn’t get headlines for one reason: he is too cowardly or to speak the truth in plain, blunt language. He, like virtually all Conservative leaders is scared shitless of the media. They listen to the little poli-sci grads in the elf suits who tell them “Don’t go negative”, and consequently, they end up saying nothing that merits any coverage. He will get headlines when he starts calling out turdo et al for what they are: stupid, self-serving, arrogant and dishonest cowards.

PS: add incompetent and uncaring to that list….especially uncaring.

      3. The same Scheer who refuses to use the services of The Rebel Media?
Who actually banned Rebel personnel from the conservatives convention?
So where might conservatives hear this pipsqueak; squeak?
Is he still hoping for honest reportage from the 600 million dollar media guild?
Or hoping the Constantly Biased Corpse to rediscover ethics?
        What is the progressive plan?
        We are not Justine’s team?

      4. Some of the points raised about Scheer I agree with. He can take stronger positions and speak more forthrightly. However, I have been checking the respective “politics” sections of CBC News and the Globe and Mail, and both corrupt news organizations have censored the Question Period discussions for the most part. For example, after the firing of John McCallum, both these pro-Liberal media censored the tough questioning in the House of Commons.

So one must factor in media corruption. Scheer does speak out on issues, but the corporate media will not report on what he says. One way to counteract this would be to devise hart-hitting attack ads stating strong conservative positions. But the jury is out on whether or not this will be done.

      5. That is the issue. The Media/Academic/Democrat complex is taking this country down. While the conservative blogosphere and AM radio provides excellent reporting, they are vilified by MAD to the extent audience crossover is nonexistent. It’s a very effective information blockade. I pray things hold together long enough to enjoy the fruits of our labor. We’re under no illusions that everything we have can be taken away.

  13. News for Rex and Conrad. Horse is already gone from the barn.

    Conrad endorsed and voted Trudeau.
Rex never said a peep about the Canadian media guild registering to oppose Harper.

Rex reminds me of Trey Gowdy. Sounds great, but when push comes to shove…

    1. Conrad did not like Harper, Harper didn’t go to bat for him in his time of trouble so he selfishly supported Trudeau. It’s all about what your country can do for you not the other way around for some. I do hope Conrad has enjoyed the reign of the Trudeau Cabal and is better off for it.

      1. Black is one of many Canadians who regret voting for Trudeau and won’t make that mistake again.

  14. In the 1960s it took 3 years to open a mine. By 2005 the time was closer to 15 years. The Ring of Fire was discovered in 2007. Twelve years later there is no road, electricity or rail linking the massive deposits of chromite, nickel and copper with the rest of Ontario. This discovery could not go into production in 3 years if we started today. The government hates mining. This is why so many geologists have Spanish as a second language. Up to $50 billion in mineral value sits in the ground while our Federal government implements a carbon tax and buys aging pipelines to appease protestors.

  15. I’m with LC Bennett.
Since independence for the West became an obvious result of the reign of Trudeau Two, I too have been looking for a defence of the status quo.
How does Alberta or Saskatchewan benefit by staying the course?
How does confederation create a future for our children and their children?
All the standard “benefits” are falling apart as we watch,
    Healthcare?
    Welfare?
    Pensions?
    Law and rule of law?
Where is Canada going that is beneficial?

Under the UN conventions Canada has signed on to,with zero consultation of us taxpayers,an independent West has
genuine bargaining power, with respect to access to salt water ports and trade.
Under confederation the western provinces are land locked and subject to the whims of a disconnected group of powerblocs, all intent at the moment on diminishing or extorting Western taxpayers.

An independent west has to be more accountable as the rulers are right at hand and enemies are better identified .
Under current setup, our “friends” are anything but.

Financially an independent state seems far better for the citizens , both immediately, by stopping the billions of dollars drained off and long term with the unfunded liabilities overhanging (Eastern)Canada.

And on the infrastructures vital to civil society, is it just me? Or has Canada not been throwing these things aside?
    National defence is a joke.
National policing has produced High River style accountability.
The highest Courts have ruled;”Truth is no defence”.
    Unapproved opinions are “Hate Crimes”.
And private property is not a thing in this Canada.
    Self defence is a crime.
Systemic corruption is treated as the norm.
None of these things lead me to believe a better future awaits the path we currently follow.

So where is the case for Canada.?

    1. Yes, it looks like the UN conventions on The Law of the Sea and Transit Trade for Land Locked Nations would give an independent nation of Alberta and Saskatchewan more rights than they have now.

I’ve looked at the list of crown corporations, there’s about 3 dozen, and only a few seem essential for a new country: postal service, CMHC, CDIC, pension board, central bank , air security and transport authority. The rest of the crown corps are needless bureacracy, museums, diversity programs and regional development agencies. You’d need trade negotiators, national police, a supreme court and some others I’m probably missing but the rest of the important services are already handled and funded by provinces and municipalities.

  16. Yes, of course he has. Bizarre really, considering that that all Liberal power has been derived from exploiting the hinterland resources for the benefit of the center. Upper and Lower Canada have been playing this game since rural Ontario was a hinterland (still is politically) to the western provinces. Now Trudeau has made social justice, diversity and marginalism the modus operendi of the Liberals, I don’t know whats in store for the artificial construct that is our country. .

  17. That video should be played each time a gore propaganda flick is shown in the school system . I know …wishful thinking ……

  18. You can replace resource jobs with the service sector in Canada but you can’t think of affording the current welfare state. On present trajectory, collapse is inevitable. Resource development and associated technologies are Canada’s only significant competitive advantage. Most goods production is better sourced elsewhere.

  19. I think Rex knows the answer to his question, and that being, yes, almost beyond recovery. It would take at least as many years of changes to regulations just to get us back to where we were three years ago, and that was too long to get a project going.

Butts’ plan of destroying Canada’s energy resource industry is almost complete.
    Rex says it well.

As far as Max versus Scheer is concerned, personally I am leaning more toward Max as he at least is not afraid to tell it like it is while Scheer is almost a Trudeau cheer leader on the AGW file.

  20. It is pleasant for a few moments to feel that Canada is so successful we can afford a big Store Floor walker and Lady Customer’s Assistant To dress up our rather Rustic Image, by being our Prime Minister— But the truth is we are not that big , Successful, or Stupid enough to endure much longer. We have to find an unpleasant tough guy that will make all you moaners shut up and get to work. If the good people of Alberta and Saskatchewan would remember all those years that they made good secure money growing Wheat and Beef that were World Beaters . So go back to it! In those years we all knew there was a large amount of oil there but that to be able to sell it we had to learn to extract it , and could only sell it if the price was high enough to make you cry at the Gas station. Hey today same story !The Arabs have to voluntarily cut production so we can sell our asphalt. Nothing has changed! The US oil industry is Fracking itself to meet total US demand and could really not be less interested in building pipelines to ship Dilutent one way and an Asphalt mix the other way. So they are Ruthless they sold the Trans Mountain pipe to the Floor Walker. So all the fat lazy get rich people who flocked to the oil fields should flock off back to where they came from and learn to make things to sell to our neighbours. If they have no trades I feel for them. They should remember their grand parents who were displaced by the Combine Harvester. They did not sit around and cry they went to Ontario and made the Province rich. Adapt Do not cry!
