  1. I think that tells you all you need to know about the Conservative Party of Canada. This is the party that Lance thinks is so important.

Anyone going to bother voting next election?

    1. Not in my clueless ENDP riding, where the gay communist keeps getting voted in. My vote is wasted in commie Victoria now.

    1. I haven’t donated to the CPC since the Liberal in disguise forced his MPs to vote for the Paris Accord. This just confirms my decision.

      1. I haven’t donated since mike harris screwed over the municipalities in Ontario.

    2. I’ve had to hang up on the last two calls for support from the Conservatives. They don’t listen anymore. I think they’re paid phone banks now, there is no longer any interest in actually talking, they just want to get through the script and go on to the next caller. And never mind the damage they’re causing by promoting a totalitarian, top down system.

  2. Is there a legitimate separation party
It needs not be perfect. Merely better than the alternatives.

    1. there is no alternative, the vast majority, at least 80%, are freaking socialists in Canada.

  3. Unless a ‘Canadian Trump’ emerges from the shadows to reset it’s ideologies, the CPC is just another enemy of our freedoms and future prosperity. As much respect as I have gained for Bernier, he is still a product of Quebec and thus no solution, especially for ending the East’s legislative and financial abuse of the West.

As I stated on a previous thread, our federal political choices are currently far far left, far left and centre left. At least now the rest of you have some concept on what it’s been like to be a BC Conservative voter these past many years.

    1. Bernier is a product of The Beauce – much different than the rest of Quebec. Read about the region and its inhabitants. You will be impressed.

    2. It is good he is from Quebec, it disarms the Liberal “two solitudes” bogey man. I think he has the personality to do what we need and he isn’t anti-Anglo/West/Whatever.

      1. Sheila and Robert,,,

I am the first to admit that my western anti-Quebec bigotries kept me from from seriously considering Bernier. As much as I now believe he is our best current Conservative spokesman, that in no way translates to me believing he is our long-term solution.

The CPC leadership does seem to hate him, so I guess in that aspect his situation is somewhat similar to Trump and the GOP. But, does he have the immense amount of ‘chutzpah’ that will be required to rally the troops and lead Conservatives out of the darkness?

I guess time will tell on that one.

        1. You are right – time will tell. But the fact that he stands by his convictions, immigration and supply management for example, is very encouraging. Don’t forget that the people who caused his defeat for the leadership of the CPC for him were the Quebec dairy farmers.

    3. There will never be a “Canadian Trump”, as our moneyed elite are the big reason we have the system we do today, total control of both major political Parties, and none of them are dissatisfied with the status quo.
If Trump had been Canadian and run here,he would have garnered fewer votes than the Greens.
We are now firmly in thrall to the cabal of politicians and their elite masters who run this country with the assistance of their media shills.
With the arrival of poli-sci graduates like Scheer, the new wave is taking over, we will never see even the likes of a Stephen Harper again, let alone a Trump.

      1. Sadly true.

One of Trump’s key assets is his fierce, unapologetic and deep love for his country and the freedoms it champions. When is the last time anyone ever witnessed that level of sincere patriotism from a Canadian politician?

        Exactly.

        1. “One of Trump’s key assets is his fierce, unapologetic and deep love for his country and the freedoms it champions. ”

That’s not an asset. That’s an attitude. One that you’re projecting onto him.

      2. Not possible.

Both parties are making decisions and supporting policies that seriously damage moneyed people.

Taxes are high, our stock market is shit, the oil patch is dead, our dollar is crapola, our trade is about to be crippled by the idiot Trudeau causing more money to disappear. Do you really think the moneyed elite are happy with any of that?

  4. The CPC brain trust playing 5-dimensional chess with checkers.

What’s that Instapundit line? Worst. Political. Class. Ever.

  5. Max is my favorite politician right now. I also liked Harper and Wall. They all share the same characteristic of not being afraid of clearly stating their beliefs, especially ones that fail to align with the chattering class. All have the ability to tune out the (unfailingly leftist) experts, consultants and media and hear other voices (conservative, libertarian). That’s rare in politics because any deviation from the chattering class results in constant shaming and hysterical accusations of being racist, sexist, alt-right, a nazi, stupid, a knuckledragger and, of course, the dreaded catch-all insult of being a populist. Which is quite amusing when you think about all the ridiculous nonsense that’s currently ‘popular’ in humanities/social science academic circles and treated as gospel by the chattering class.

The CPC right now are just typical cookie cutter, stepford wives politicians.

    1. I liked Harper too, but he was too eager to placate the leftists. He did not have the ‘killer instincts’ of a Trump. He never understood that the left will hate you no matter how nice you try to be to them.
Scheer is 10x worse in this regard.

  6. By the looks of things I’ll be spoiling my ballot. Scheer is a liberal chicken schidt.

  7. Scheer just continue what happened with CPC during late term Harper, total insulation from conservatism on the street. Ottawa makes people delusional.

    1. Pretty much. I still can’t quite figure out what went wrong with Harper. About a year or so into his majority, he just up & quit fighting. The remainder of his time in office was largely just running in place, not strongly advancing conservative priorities or principles, not speaking out strongly against leftism in all its forms, not trying to fertilize the ground for continued conservative and Conservative gains across the country. He ran the campaign like he was just going through the motions, figured he was going to lose anyway.

And Scheer, the quicker he gets shown the door, the better. Total go-along-to-get-along Ottawa loser, no matter where he hails from. But he’s a symptom of the party, which may as well just rebrand itself Progressive Conservative now. That seems to be what they want. No Reform left in that bunch.

I agree with others. There’s nobody for a conservative voter to vote for next year. Plenty of guys to vote against, but nobody to vote for.

      1. Will Scheer lose his Stanfields and become the second “Best Prime Minister Canada Never Had” as the Liberals liked to title Stanfield.

        Scheer … Lose Your Stanfields!

      2. Harper was a statist. He never stopped fighting-he got what he wanted: drug prohibition, surveillance, more tuff on krime lawz. Then he stopped caring because he got what he wanted.

    2. It’s because “conservatism” is a failed, flawed ideology. It cannot govern because it has nothing on its platform other than “if liberals like it, we’ re against it!” It sends people to Ottawa/Washington hoping they do nothing. It has no backbone: see women’s bathrooms, academia, etc. It’s always trying to play by Queensbury rules when its opponents are bringing weapons. It does not recognize controlled opposition like leftist Jordan Peterson.

Because it idolizes gallant failure (and failures like Ben Shapiro and W. Buckley).

      1. Leftist Jordan Peterson?!
Peterson is neither left nor right.
        He is not an ideologue.

        1. Then you’re not paying attention. Besides, shouldn’t you be cleaning your room instead of replying?

  8. I would honestly have Trudeau win than this dickless turd – seriously – the guy is scarily inept.

    1. Nope. Not unless Scheer turns out to be the same kind of globalist, no borders assh*le that Trudeau is.

  9. At this point in time, the only Party I see with any Conservative values is the Canadian Nationalist Party.
    https://www.nationalist.ca

Sign the Rebel’s petition and email Scheer to actually stand up for his claims to free speech by giving the Rebel a booth at the Convention.

    1. That’s a mixed bag of populist values, many of which basically implement government interference in private business and society the same way as the Liberals, but from the ethnonationalist side. With fairly obvious Unintended Consequences, and uncomfortable echoes of mid-twentieth-century ethnonationalism. Not a well-thought-out platform.

    1. No they’re not. The notion that Canada is being ‘conquered’ is an insane fever dream. People were saying idiotic things like Maxime is about the last wave of immigration and every one before that. They were wrong every time.

    2. “First, it will never produce the First World. Why? Because the West is uniquely the corollary of the Judeo-Christian matrix. This is the history of Canada, like it or not. No culture outside this matrix created the First World – there is only misery outside it.”

Complete and utter nonsense. First, the first world is in spite of ‘Judeo Christian’ values, otherwise the Philippines and Venezuela would be first world. Second, there are places called ‘Singapore’ and ‘Hong Kong’ and ‘Dubai’ that are more first world than the first world and are not of Judeo-Christian culture. Nor is Japan and South Korea. This untravelled asshat is just ignorant of the world.

  10. To all those in their thirty’s who think that the liberals are the answer, be aware that you will be under sharia law before your retirement.

    1. Agreed Wally, one only has to search “muslim majority in Canada”. Stats Can predicts the year to be 2050. So your comment about 30 year old’s seems spot on.

  11. They might as well return the name to the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada.

All that work, time, energy and money to bring about the CPC with the Reform Party is lost. In fact, I would say it is more timid than when Joe Clark and his ilk ran the PCs.

    Coulda had Max indeed.

    1. Progressive Party of Canada. There fixed that for you. The Libs don’t have “progressive” in their name, so this re-branding will drive voters to the RINO’s. I’m positive that that IS how the brain trust running/advising the Party thinks. “How can we be more like the Liberals than the Liberals?”

The Economy…fixes itself. There, all we have to do is hire some expensive “consultants” (ex-CPC) to figure out how much we pay ourselves & get the taxpayers to fund our pensions. Trump is eeeeevil, vote for Me.

  12. How is the CPC in any way conservative?
That’s what I asked the last time they called for a donation.
    They didn’t have an answer.

  13. Gave money to the Cons when Harper came along. But they’re gotten so very soft. They only want to be elected. They don’t give a shyte about the nation.
Gave money to the Libertarians recently. Their platform is concise and succinct.
But I have little hope for the future when so many want to be controlled (eliminated) by a neo-Marxist society.

  14. Complaining that Versailles (Ottawa) is out of touch with the people, is like stating Venezuela may have a struggling economy. The insular city-state that sent troops west to silence the rebellion of self government was itself consumed with being both Upper and Lower Canada and everyone else as subject to their whims. To Ottawa there is no western Canada, and there never has been one as far they are concerned. Like asphyxiation, they only respond to the west before we pass out, or like water boarding they only bring us up for air when we’re about done. Sending representatives east is like taking a musical instrument to a mosque, same result. So, will I vote Conservative? Hahahahahaha, if you see one, let me know.

  15. Sigh! I miss Stephen, and would vote for Max in a heartbeat! I too, am an aging long time BC conservative with nobody to vote for. Scheer fits his name, as in sheer drapes or vague formations. We can all see through him. That said, I would still vote for the Cons just to protest Peter Pan. We are all royally screwed! I also agree, as to where we are headed, we’ll have Sharia law within a few years thanks to Trudeau, what a traitor to Canada.

  16. Im at the “i dont give a shit”state as far as Canada is concerned. I follow
Troump religiously and every time he puts the screws to Turdeau i cheer. Nafta. Gone Good. Supply mgt gone good.autopact gone. Good-fu#k the east. Let them freeze in the dark.Sharia law-the bitches will look good in burkas. You get what you vote for. Ennjoy it.
    .

    1. Did you notice the propaganda release today about Barney Freeland, and how she is “talking to Mexico and Us negotiators” about NAFTA negotiations and she’s looking forward to concluding talks?
Puff Piece by Reuters/CP, someone should post it.
Total propaganda without an ounce of truth, save for Mex-US talks wrapping up.

  17. As one who helped start Reform I would suggest the conservative movement started to decline when Harper gained his majority. Maybe even when Manning took the Party east. Like most conservative groups the group think was that ‘reason’ would ultimately win out. To that purpose faith was given to leadership and accountability was not demanded. My riding association board abdicated their responsibility by allowing the reinstatement of HO top down management. There are no more policy meetings nor anymore community halls where the grass roots had the opportunity to talk.

Top all this with the incredible ease that red Tories were allowed into the Party. They have turned the Party away from principals that were fundamental to conservative thought. Like many on here I do not donate to the CPC. The riding association I helped built is a shadow of what it was and his dominated by carpetbaggers.

  18. Currently more like the Regressive Non Conservative Party. I will admit to being disillusioned since Max was f**ked over by the Quebecois Milk Mafia but Scheer is making it even easier to be dismissive of him lately with his chickenshit, mealy mouthed proclamations. He’s trying to out soy little Junior.

I do not pine for Harper. I always felt he was more of a product of the social conservative Reform movement than of the Conservative party. Never wished the man ill but wasn’t his biggest cheerleader either. I’m trying to remember the last PC leader I was enthused with. … Was never big on McKay. Charest, maybe ? A little to French for me. I guess the Big Chin was the last one.

I did check out the Libertarian Party of Canada during the last election since the brother of a guy I know was running. A few to many kooky ideas for me. A brief look at the Nationalist Party makes me feel the same way.

I could see Big Dougie trying to make the jump to Federal politics in an election cycle or two. It’ll depend on how he does trying to dig Ontari-owe out of the McSquinty/Wyndbag hole. I just don’t think he’d do as well Federally as he does here.
Plus, I doubt he knows more French than Pepe le Pew.

  19. As a founding member of Reform I can’t help but shake my head in disgust at how things have turned out . I do though understand that it is not entirely the fault of the PC leadership . They want and need to appeal to a broader electorate and so principles be damned . That’s just the way it is …………..sad …..very sad ..

  20. Andrew Scheer is running for 2nd place. There is no 2nd place winner !

Banning The Rebel from covering their convention, while catering to the anti-Conservative MSM.
That is something one would associate with a previous Progressive Conservative leader, Kim Campbell.

“Being nice to your enemies does not make them into your friends.” K.M.

Max Bernier is sitting in the first row of the Montreal Press Club meeting where Prof. Jordan Peterson talks about the importance of free speech/speaking the truth as an anti-dote to tyranny. The meeting honours the imprisoned Saudi blogger Raif Badawi. His wife and son also speak.

Notably absent is Andrew Scheer. By the time of dropping of the writ in 2019, his meme will be the empty chair.

  21. The Conservative NEED Max Bernier, he is a Conservative.

Scheer is misguided if he thinks banning the Rebel is the way to go. It’s the way for him to go down in the next election.
I cannot support a half-assed Liberal posing as Conservative.

  22. tqvm monsieur scheer for providing a glaring indicator of precisely where YOU are on the freedom of expression spectrum.

  23. Most depressing indeed. I honestly thought Scheer was better than this.

And as others have noted, Ezra is absolutely right. Point your fire else Andrew, for heaven’s sakes.

  24. Scheer seems to be going for a participation ribbon. I’m not even willing to give him that. Forget a donation, forget a vote. Not worth the aggro of the polling station.

  25. I ‘feel’ the Bernier!

Just saw an old interview that Max Bernier gave on Feb 3, 2012 with C.B.C.’s George Stroumboulopoulos. It was a short interview and Max seems like a sincere man who loves his country.

By comparison Scheer is a Liberal mole. To know that Conservative reporters are not welcomed at the Conservative convention says it all.
What is dimple cheeks smiley face afraid of? Scheer must be removed forthwith. His Liberal suit doesn’t go with his ‘ pig ‘ feet!

    1. @5:16 correction, rather… last sentence should read as follows:

“His Liberal suit goes with his ‘pig’s feet.”

  26. An oldie, but a goodie…..

Come hear the sad story of young Andrew Scheer
Caught in the headlights like a road-crossing deer
He quivered, he shivered, he shat, and he prayed
Then true to his colours he just ran away

    1. Sure, and then wonder why you’re deluged with calls for donations and support. You may as well tell the Nigerian prince your bank account. Less harassment after the raping.

      1. “Sure, and then wonder why you’re deluged with calls for donations and support. You may as well tell the Nigerian prince your bank account. Less harassment after the raping.”

You still sleeping with a night light? Or is that just a default position as far as speaking up is concerned?

        1. You never received your fair share of sunshine and food growing up did you? The internet is a wonderful place where you can to be anything you want. Why did you aspire to be a A-hole? Your comment received a comment, be grateful someone even noticed your ramblings and move on.

  27. I will vote for my MP because he doesn’t deserve to lose his seat due to bad strategy of the leadership.

    1. “I will vote for my MP because he doesn’t deserve to lose his seat due to bad strategy of the leadership.”

If he doesn’t have the balls to speak out against the bad strategy, then he’s as yellow as Scheer.

  28. The Rebel is not a serious outfit. Just another one of Ezra’s foibles. The CPC is entirely right to exclude these nonsense-makers.

I used to wish that Bernier had won, but I’m not so sure with all the idiotic nonsense he’s saying about immigration. Scheer was right to take him off shadow cabinet.

  29. Banning The Rebel = Scheer stupidity.
A globalist and non conservative like Bush, Blair, and Mullroooney.
    Coming soon Scheer-a law.

  30. “Hey guys, there are some actual conservatives coming to the convention.”

“What? No, say it isn’t so. Make it go away.”

  31. I’ll be voting and donating Libertarian. That little worm is starting to sicken me as much as PM happy hands.

  32. Wow… so encouraging to read all the support here for Scheer. /s

This a$$hat is not a conservative, and needs to be replaced asap. Everytime the Conservative Party calls our home for a donation, we say ‘not while Scheer is leader’. I suggest everybody do the same and maybe the party will eventually come to its senses.

  33. Of all the candidates they had to choose from, they took the most pasty, milquetoast, nerd they could find. He makes Stephane Dion’s turn as leader look like Atilla the Hun..

  34. I’ve done my bit.

Sent an e-mail to the Comms director. Called my local office. Liked the video and sent a small donation.

Sadly, Scheer underestimates the damage that shutting out the conservative side of the Conservative Party will cause. He is a dead man walking as far as his chances of victory in 2019. Not too late to change course, but unlikely…….and four more years of Justin will kill me.

    1. As Conservatives we have a choice, Scheer or Trudeau for another four years. I’ll take my chances on Scheer at this point. I’ve had all I can stomach of twit Trudeau’s dramatics. It is a bit of a rock and a hard place for Conservatives, we need to consider the alternative at this time.
