Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

only 2 comments on the story, but they’re good ones. If Panera were to publicly ask or sue the anti-gun group that was pressuring them into paying the costs of the robbery, what would happen?
Just like a locale that declares itself a nuclear weapons free zone, a sign doesn’t change the laws of physics or chemistry. It just changes the level of defence that an aggressor will expect.
“If Panera were to publicly ask or sue the anti-gun group that was pressuring them into paying the costs of the robbery,….”
Good point, they should.
Not unlike that parents of sick kids across the US should sue the “O” Word for forcing their kids to school with sick and dangerous Third world Illegal Aliens.
You don’t have to wield a sword to die by one.
At least their blessed with the millions of newly arrived innocent homeless youths from Guatemala and elsewhere south of the border, who will respect their wishes to have a gun free/ crime free state.
LOL
You say someone did not read the press release? I say the opposite, clearly someone did read the press release and that someone acted on that information.
I agree.
I look forward to the inevitable “armed crazies” comment by certain drifting types.
C_Miner’s idea about claiming damages against the anti-gun pressure groups is a good one. Panera will never do it, but its still a good idea. Ideologues should be made to bear the inevitable consequences of their actions.
I think Cappy needs to build a spreadsheet tracking the sales and robbery stats of restaurants that do allow carry versus those that don’t.
My prediction is the result will make some progressive heads explode, if they haven’t been culled by eating in a carry disallowing locale.
I fully support Panera’s gun free policy. I never eat there so now I can be safer where I do eat.

They had a violent armed robbery in Aug 2013 too.
Did you listen to the the story?? It says the thieves fired a shot in the air after leaving the scene of the robbery. Nobody was hurt. So what difference would a patron carrying a gun have made? The place was closed.
So some hot shot hero would have walked by with his concealed automatic, and he would have shot at one of the robbers for firing into the air! Then what?? Then other robber might have blasted back at John Wayne and killed him!
The truth is–the USA has become a unsafe society!
Oh–and by the way–I’m not against guns and I fully support hunting, shooting etc. I just don’t like to see guns in the hands of amateurs trying to stop an armed robbery, no matter what side of the law they may be on!
“I just don’t like to see guns in the hands of amateurs trying to stop an armed robbery”
good, then you’ll not carry one, I feel safer already!!!

The Drifting One does not disappoint.
People are stupid, right Drifter? They have to be controlled, don’t they? Gotta keep them peasants in line!
See how insidious that philosophy is? Once you go down that road, you’re lost.
Incidentally, my views on hunters can be seen here:

Since you seem to have wussed out of that thread.
The Phantom:
You can twist words if you wish. However when you become so paranoid that you need to carry a pistol in a restaurant or a food store, it may be time to take a hard look at where the end result of your thinking will lead you to. And I still believe that your odds are much greater of having the gun go off accidentally and blow your leg apart than you do of being shot by an armed robber.
Yeah ya might be right….
Used to reside in an old farmhouse…rural setting….moved last fall….to a place so remote there was a helo-pad for emergencies….
The old place….I hadn’t had an armed home-invasion for about 6-7 years…I wuz on a roll.
