The science behind the claims that methane is a powerful greenhouse gas is pretty straightforward, if you look at only part of the science. Methane indeed traps more heat inside the atmosphere than CO2, by a wide margin. It disperses much more quickly, with a short life in the atmosphere, but if you only consider the warming impact it indeed is quite powerful.
That’s the reasoning behind the war on gas. But…

Water Vapour is the biggest “greenhouse gas” by a huge margin, and none of the “climate models” have any idea how to model it.
Don’t give them any ideas, or they’ll try to either shut down Niagara Falls, or try to tax it…
Somehow, against almighty odds, the planet has managed to survive, actually quite well. Now when useless human idiots, are used as useful human idiots, and they start messing with things, that’s when it will go sideways.
The planet’s doing OK, stop frigging messing with it!
What did Forest’s Mom say…. stupid is, as stupid does, and boy, there’s a sh!t load of stupid out there.
STOP.READING.AT.MODEL
Does anyone know what the half-life of a methane molecule is? How long does it take for it to oxidize and break down into water and CO2? Is it minutes, or hours, or ?
12 years in the atmosphere.
I’ll go with NOAA’s 9 years average.
Climate Cultists need to be held accountable using the science of gravity and the relativity of a 10 story building.
I lost all patience for climate science when they ignored water vapor in favor of concentrating on C02. Water vapor absorbs more energy, and there’s a hell of a lot of it in the atmosphere. Of course, clouds also cool the atmosphere, otherwise I suspect that there would be a panic about the runaway effects of evaporation over the arctic ocean during the summer. Oh wait…
I admit to confusion as to how the relative impact of greenhouse gasses is computed, but it certainly doesn’t seem to be related to the adiabatic index – which clearly shows that CO2 and Methane would have a marginal effect, if any, on global temperatures. If it was, no one would be blibbering about the need to reduce C02 emissions, because anyone with a high school education would think they were morons or scammers.
I only have a high school education, and I’m ignorant of climate science – so I think they’re morons or scammers.
But fortunately for Turdopian greentardism, The Great Leader’s functional education topped out at Grade 7, and apparently it took him two tries even to ‘achieve’ that.
Life is good when you’re a Prince…
I don’t know whether this latest result will withstand future critiques — it is, after all, just one study — but there was always far more uncertainty about the climate than climate alarmists would admit, in part because the global climate is a massively complicated beast which isn’t close to being completely understood. This was something that Judith Curry called “The Uncertainty Monster”.

In addition to the above, much of the methane absorption spectrum is already covered by water vapor so adding methane to the atmosphere does very little to increase atmospheric temperatures.
Methane isn’t a GHG because its absorption bands are at the limits of IR radiation. Plus there is no greenhouse in the sky. An atmosphere carries heat away from the surface of the earth. Otherwise, we’d burn up. The thicker the atmosphere, the better it operates.
Man made global warming is the greatest fraud in existence.

Understanding then concisely sharing the facts as this article does also gives a degree of credence to marxist talking-points, ie lies. Even the valid Water Vapour dialogue becomes a distraction perpetrated by their “Squirrel!”. Useful idiots aren’t bright enough to follow simple arguments (they aren’t allowed to be) but they’re effective at manipulating our focus.
