Update: This is astonishing. I linked the source page above at 21:06:17 Eastern January 6th. This evening the page screenshotted above has been removed and replaced with charts that don’t mention vaccine status at all. You must download the database for yourself to find the vaccine status breakdowns (which for the past few days are patently ridiculous).

This is about the fourth time that the SaskHealth dashboard has been reconfigured immediately after posts appeared here reporting the vax vs unvax new case statistics – and that’s also patently ridiculous.

The Excel data, downloaded this Friday morning, indicates that 847 of 913 cases yesterday were in the vaccinated. I have no faith in the data but that sounds more in line with the neighboring provinces.

Errors happen. But errors shouldn’t be lingering for days on a government website, staffed by people whose job it is to ensure that information is accurate, or if it is in question, that the appropriate disclaimers are front and center.

Yesterday John Gormley, God love him, actually reported to tens of thousands of Saskatchewan listeners — with a straight face — that 99% of new cases were in the unvaccinated, because the SaskHealth dashboard told him so. Words fail.

Like Nini I just did some basic checksums to see if things literally added up, and they don’t at all. They sure as shit don’t correspond to whatever that graph was presented yesterday for any of the previous dates either. Either the data they used for the graphs is not the same as the data from the spread sheet or I don’t know what. I literally cannot conceive of how they got the information in the graph from the information in the tables. They couldn’t even get a basic summation correct, January 6th it was fluffed up by 8%. spot checking a few other day’s summaries there are similar errors in not even being able to create a summary of just a few rows of data accurately. In fact some days show hundreds of new cases in the one total, 68 new cases in a different total for the same day and ZERO contributing cases for both those totals, so its either 480% over or it’s %cannot calculate% over or it’s all total bullshit made up to fit some kind of curve.

If this is spat out by a program, the programmer should be fired as should the project manager. This is literally grade four math stuff being able to add up 20 lines of 1-3 digit numbers accurately by hand much less using a computer.

I spend endless time telling my children they must be prepared to “Show their work” for their math and science. I’d fail them on the spot for this crap.

      1. People forget that math facts are stubborn things. When 60% of Sask. is vaccinated, and 0% of new COVID infections are among the vaccinated … it. does. not. make. sense. And the people publishing these crooked numbers are the same ones insisting that it is only logical (math) that the vaccinated are getting infected, since there are so many MORE vaccinated citizens.       Last I saw Alberta was still reporting the truth that vax’d and unvax’d case rates were almost equal. Oops … data has changed with todays update and so slightly higher case rates in the unvax’d …. Alberta is 89% vax’d depending on how u want to term vax’d ( 89.5 percent of 12+ population has received at least one dose (79.5% total population)

      1. The count for cases in Alberta includes the full population so I am perplexed as to why we should discard those under 12 for looking at vaccinated percentages?

        Since December 19th we’ve been seeing new cases IN the fully vaccinated coming in at a higher percentage rate than the rate of fully vaccinated in our province, which is 73%. Partial vaccination sits at 79.4%.

        Omicron seems to be favouring the vaccinated.

        1. The problem with the Statistics as presented, is that evaluation of them creates the improper outcome. There needs to be some math involved to understand things a little better, and that step gets skipped. If you take an approximate population of Alberta of 4 Million, and 85.4% of them are fully vaxxed – that means you have about 3.4 Million people in that group. That means that with 4011 new cases reported in fully vaxxed people you have a 0.12% of the 3.4 million testing positive. (Same math with Partial Vaxxed get you 0.03% – which seems oddly low and is probably a factor of the smaller sample size.

          If you do the math for Unvaxxed.- you get 420,000 people, 890 New Cases – means a 0.21% rate for testing positive.

          Unvaxxed people are testing positive at a higher rate than vaxxed – their total cases are less because they have a smaller portion of the population. If we applied the same positive test % to Vaxxed people we would expect just over 7200 people testing positive.

          So then – is the vaccine “working” – the answer is yes and no. It is decreasing the rate of positive tests – but it isn’t protecting you fully from testing positive. We could get in to a long conversation about what was promised with this vaccine and how it isn’t doing that – and I would not be able to argue with you! And for full disclosure, my family we chose to take the vaccine, but I do not believe we should be forcing anyone to take it if they do not want. It is 100% your choice! My only issue with this discussion here is we aren’t looking at the proper numbers to actually discuss the issue – because the powers that be aren’t competent enough to know they should be providing them

          1. Our vaccination page tells us exactly the percentage of Alberta citizens that are vaccinated. You are redoing a calculation that has already been worked.

            That percentage is 73%. The percentage of partially vaccinated is 79.4%.

            For what reason did you pull 85.4% out of thin air? The stat has already been calculated for us. The population and vaccination numbers are reported on the same linked sight. Why are you muddying this up?

            73% of Albertans are fully vaxxed.

            The percentage of vaccinated in the new cases is also reported, and since Dec 19th they have been more than 73% of our cases. They have been up to 83.46% of our cases, and usually hover at around 81%.

            The math has already been done. These are numbers you don’t need to play with to make sense of.

            If you WANT to do the math – 3,227,007 of 4,420,039 Albertans are fully vaccinated = 73%. 1,193,032 of 4,420,039 Albertans are not vaccinated, or newly vaccinated, or partially vaccinated = 27%

            In Alberta, as of the 4957 new cases yesterday, 4011 new cases were among vaccinated people – 80.92%.
            As of yesterday, 56 new cases were among partially vaccinated people – 1.13%.
            As of yesterday, 890 new cases were among unvaccinated people – 17.95%.

            4011 of 3,227,007 vaccinated Albertans tested positive. That is 1 in 805

            890 of 1,193,032 of unvaccinated Albertans tested positive. That is 1 in 1,340

            These numbers suggest Omicron is favouring the vaccinated. I am one, and had more hope than this for the vaccine, but am not about to obfuscate this.

  5. So massive lineups at -50 for testing at prairie land park, Saskatoon. Other than Karen’s getting their precious 5 yr old tested for the sniffles? Do they honestly think this is believable?
    Rapid tests are widely available in sask right now. Anybody untreated who has the sniffles is using them, I use them myself in case we need to throw the kitchen sink at it. Nothing yet, but I do know of several treated and untreated who have nasty colds (negative) right now. We’ve officially entered Alice in wonderland territory!

      Better Accuracy = Case numbers are up because previously undetected cases are not being discovered. Hence back the last 20 months or so there was actually a significantly larger amount of people with Covid suggesting that not only did Contact Tracking not work, and that Restrictions didn’t work, but also that even the dreaded Prime and Delta variants were less dangerous than previously claimed.

      This is before we discuss the False Positive ratios.

      Honestly, this isn’t just moving the goal posts, it is changing the type of ball as well. Without an understanding of how the test methods perform relative to each other we are comparing apples to TicTok posts.

  10. Of course the unvaccinated are going to test positive at a higher rate, because we are tested at a higher rate. We need a test to go to restaurants or farm shows or whatever. I’m sure I heard on the radio that vaccinated were not to come in to get tested if showing symptoms, as to not overwhelm the testing sites, just monitor at home.

    What if it’s simply true?

    I think Stew has the right view on it, people who are vaccinated but sick are self selecting out of testing at all for lack of serious illness, given their rugged self sufficiency and all, so effectively it’s not a representational data set of the total population at this point, the process is likely simply trending towards only testing people who are seriously ill and presenting in hospital etc. If the official line is to be believed at all, then being vaxxed confers one with less intensity of sickness when they do in fact get sick. No self respecting Westerner is going to waste the doc’s time testing his or her sniffles. Only when they’ve had a leg off or something more meaningful might they consult with a medical person and admit they might need a bit of help.

    To be clear, it’s an admirable character trait. I admire the Stoicism, but no doubt it messes up the data collection.

    1. You are correct to a point. In Sask If you’re fully vaxxed and you test positive on a quick test you don’t need to go get a pcr test. If unvaccinated and you test positive you are to go for a pcr test for confirmation. This will definitely mess with the stats but I find it impossible that there aren’t a ton of fully vaxxed and boosted people lining up for a pcr test anyway. These 900 plus positive tests were not found in very sick people in the hospital because there’s no where near that many people a day being hospitalized. These would overwhelmingly be from the test centres.

    2. It’s not accurate for several reasons:
      1. An outbreak was declared on the Regina Pats a WHL team that has to be fully vaccinated. No January numbers were shown.
      2. The breakdowns in December were 50 / 50 vaccinated and unvaccinated. The new year arrives and suddenly the vaccines are almost 100%.
      3. A lot of the vaccinated are still buying the narrative so they will get tested to do there part. The unvaccinated aren’t going to give those bastards another case, so if anything the testing bias is for the vaccinated.

    When Omicron first was commented on by the BC health minister, he said we had 44 cases of omricon, 37 of them fully vaccinated.

    As previously reported here, Saskatchewan – Stats for October – double vaxed are half of all new cases age 12 and older. So for Nov. they changed the definition of unvaxed to include those with one only dose. For Dec. they list the single dose separately again and double vaxed outnumber unvaxed.

    But now, suddenly everything makes a 180 degree turn???

    And they expect me to believe the BS they’re peddling now????

    Data coming from all over the world shows the vaxxed are much more likely to catch it than the unvaxxed. And we’re to suddenly believe them?

    I’m no great fan of the lockdowns or mandates but I have to admit a lot of the shaking one’s fist at the sky while screaming seems, less than productive in the greater scheme of things.
    I’m in Toronto (Snigger away) and we’re effectively in a soft lockdown again for a few weeks and it doesn’t really seem to have too much meaningful impact on my life, I still do pretty much whatever the fuck I want and quite enjoy having less traffic on the road. My biggest issue is trying to run my business without too much interference, thankfully my staff can be pretty effective working remotely and can come in when they need to visit a job site.
    I guess I am just trying to reconcile the general flavor of the comments here which range from “They are taking away our freedom those evil bastards” to “They’re all morons”. Is it both? or one or the other? We’re the true morons if in fact a bunch of other morons can take away our freedoms.
    Personally I trend towards libertarian and think everyone should be able to evaluate their own risks and act accordingly but I also understand not everyone gets to choose the risks they have to endure so it’s perhaps polite to not jam my liberty in someone else’s face if only to give them the willies and force them to reconsider their life choices.

  25. Long before all this started I became friends with a U of S Phd doctor, so got to go to some dinner parties, in the winter of 2018. One of the doctors was a guy that goes by the name of Dr Francis Christian, if you don’t know of him, inform yourself.
    I won’t name anyone else as they are still there, but me being nobody you get a crash course in the politics that happens with health. Dr Christian is a stellar surgeon and showed genuine interests in getting to know people. SHA cut him out in matter of a couple weeks for speaking out.
    We are on our own as a control group against this garbage, we know they lie, they know they are, it’s the useful idiots that let this slide. Nobody questions them so why would they stop, absolutely this is mass formation but eventually they will devour themselves, after they can’t blame the boogeyman anymore and the rats will swim away.

  28. Thinking about this, will throw out a theory…

    1) The majority are vaccinated.
    2) This latest version is already weakened, as it is common over time as viruses degrade.
    3) The virus hits the immune system of a vaccinated person, and gets pounded right from the get go.
    4) Viruses that spread from vaccinated are in a further weakened state, and continue to weaken further over time.
    5) Over time…and not a great deal of time…the virus becomes too weak to affect vaccinated people to any serious degree.
    6) And even those who are not vaccinated eventually register decreasingly serious infections, because the virus they are being infected with is the same weakened version.

    The above chart, if this is true, would reflect this.

    Herd immunity.

    This could be a very positive sign that this plague has just about run its course.

  29. Just correcting the record. Sask Health is resetting the definition of vaccine to what it was a year ago. A vaccine prevents infection. If you got the ‘rona, you ain’t vaccinated. You may have been vaxed, jabbed or Fauci juiced; but you’re not vaccinated.

    1. I get annual flu shots.

      I can still get infected, but symptoms may very mild and only last a day or two, as the immune system…prepped as it is…fights off the infection. In most cases, there will likely be no symptoms…dependent on the strain of virus involved.

      Viruses don’t play by any set rules.

      Indeed, many who get flu shots will experience mild flu like symptoms up to 24 to 48 hours.

      Flu vaccines incorporate weakened viruses…see my previous post of a few minutes ago.

  33. It has been my contention the data has been manipulated to show it was primarily the unjabed catching covid from the time they started giving them. If this is true, what possible justification is there for a third jab? Or are they now contending that if you haven’t had the third jab you are considered “unvaxed”? The descending graph since the new year would indicate this was no accident. I know in August despite the narrative only the unjabbed were getting seriously ill 9 0f 22 or 40% who died had 2 0r 3 jabs. Lets wait and see what comes of this. Perhaps Sask Health will just out and admit the obvious-the tests are shit, our data is shit, we have been counting people with seasonal flu and now they want admission to the hospitals, we fired nurses without thinking of the consequences, we have not a f***ing clue what is happening.   42. Another interesting Sask Health Covid number: as per Scott Moe’s request they are now providing more details on “hospitalized with Covid” patients. Yesterday 39 of 100 hospitalized patients with Covid were reported as incidental and asymptomatic. In other words, they were hospitalized for other reasons and later tested positive but asymptomatic.
    I have an idea about your original chart Kate. Maybe their printer ran out of yellow ink.

  44. The Excel data, downloaded this Friday morning, indicates that 847 of 913 cases yesterday were in the vaccinated. I have no faith in the data but that sounds more in line with the neighboring provinces.

    On the the government’s online charts you used to be able to choose a time period for deaths.

    Now…you just get the running total.

    Needless to say, it always goes up….

  47. You should really email some “reporters” and see if they can ask about this at the next presser in Saskatchewan, Kate. I doubt anyone would actually ask but you never know! Could be a nice awkward moment.

  50. The clerk entering this data must be using their calculator on their wrist watch to add the numbers. Somebody should show them the “sum()” function in Excel. Of course that might require hiring an outside consultant who understands excel.
    Don’t get angry at me if you work for the government. Get angry at the clowns who are making all government workers look bad.
