This Dependent class are indeed dependent on government subsidization. Are we moving to a guaranteed income? With the government’s ‘War on Private Businesses’, ie on the small business economy – which is the heart of the middle class – does this mean that the population will be unable to support itself?
The problem, however, with a two-class economy, is that it cannot sustain a large population. Debt, taxes and poverty will increase to a ‘critical threshold’ – when the whole thing will collapse.. [eg Soviet Union, Venezuala].
When one third creates while two thirds lives and leeches of it, with half of the latter group administering it.
The poor get poorer because free enterprise milk cows withhold their services, eventually destroyed by the parasitic state.

Through the march of history we have seen how major events can influence attitudes and behaviors long after the specific event. I would point to WW II and how that catastrophic period changed the world. The obvious was that the USA became the only global super power. Its immense power was focused on defeating global communism while at the same time lessening the regimen of 4 years of WW II conflict on the population.
What WW II demonstrated in spades was that public opinion could be massaged and influenced to achieve political and commercial goals. Wartime propaganda and controlling information was highly successful in winning the war. IMHO this continues to this day. Influencers have moved into education, media and the public sector. Yes, Covid will change society as the true impacts are realized beyond the threat to human life. “Influencers” in society, from whatever sector or political persuasion will assess their success and amp up the process. Tech is providing the tools that will allow the micromanagement of our daily lives.
Have we ever lived in a time where people have been more willing to ask simple questions of why, where and how? A overall willingness to comply? Religion no longer rivals government in setting life standards. We have lost almost all of “The Great Generation” who were truly examples of sacrifice.
You can read how it was done in this book by Historian Carroll Quigley of Georgetown University. It explains how the Global Deep State was born and how it operates. Ottawa allowed control during ww2 and we never regained control. They were embedded in our Foreign Service and still are.
The book was so controversial, it was not published until after his death. He was there on the inside and had access to all the paperwork and files. His other great work was Tragedy and Hope.
