  1. Nice point about Ms Ballafonte. But Mayor de Blasio (Mar 2) and NYC health commissioner Oxiris Barbot (Feb 9) get some of the blame for their infamous get out and enjoy the crowded locations of NYC.

    and here is Andrew Cuomo
Feb 2 “We take situations like this very seriously …. We’ve been through situations like this before. We are very proactive.
Feb 7 “ if you look at the spread of it around the world, we would expect that and we are prepared for it.” “I understand the fear, but we’ve gone through this before”
Mar 2 “We think we have the best health care system on the planet right here in New York, so when you’re saying what happened in other countries versus what happens here, we don’t even think it’s going to be as bad as it was in other countries.”

And one of my favorites from CNN’s Anderson Cooper on Mar 4
“the flu right now is far deadlier. So if you’re freaked out at all about the coronavirus you should be more concerned about the flu”

  2. If you want to get some real insight into who is manipulating you and the how and the why watch this 30 year old documentary. It is called Manufacturing Consent.
I saw this 30 years ago and it helped shape my skepticism of the bought and paid for lap dog media.
It is even more informative and revealing than I remembered.
A lot of the normal distraction have been removed especially professional sports. The Elites Ruling class both in and outside governments aligned with the CCP have overplayed their hand .The long suffering silent majority is waking up.

    1. I agree with the theory of this documentary: we’re being manipulated.

Noam Chomsky, however, comes at this from a very leftist point of view and therefore is blinded by his own ideology.

Trump is the most anti-establishment President ever. A lot of what he says is derided by the MSM and his opponents (D and R). They ridicule him, they fact check him and they all have the same talking points. They go with it til he’s proven correct. But they never admit they’re wrong.

Chomsky should be all over today’s press, calling them out. But he instead hates Trump more. I’m not saying he needs to like Trump, but he should point out the MSM’s bias. That’s what Alan Dershowitz did for Trump at his Senate Impeachment trial. Dershowitz is not a fan of Trump and admitted to voting against him, but represented him because he was being wrongfully prosecuted.

I’ve often wondered how other anti-establishment figures of the past would treat Trump. People like George Carlin.

All of this is to say, Noam Chomsky could have been more believeable if he wasn’t biased to the left.

  3. Well, something went terribly wrong in NY.
To summarize what I posted elsewhere, NYC and its surrounding five counties (in NJ, NY, CT) have a ratio of 4.16% of the population compared to the rest of the U.S., but 42.5% of the Wuhanvirus deaths. Their death rate is 127 per 100K, the rest of the country is 7.
Ms. Bellafonte is definitely complicit, but I think de Blasio deserves most of the blame.
The U.S. ranks twelth among the worst countries in per capita death, near the bottom of western Europe, the worst stricken region. However, without the aforementioned counties, it would rank among those considered minimally impacted.
FWIW, 9 of the 10 states with the worst death rates have Democratic governors. Ironically, the only exception is MA. 14 of the 16 best states have Republican governors, the exceptions being HI and OR.

  4. And De Blasio still doesn’t want the subway closed. What an unmitigated disaster NYC is.

  5. What the NYT failed to do … and is continuing their FAILure … is to strip all context and detail out of the ChiCom-19 virus. Strip out the ages of the dead. Strip out the location of the dead (Elder Homes). Strip out the co-morbidities. Strip out high population density centers as hot spots for viral infections. Instead … they serve up dumbed-down, overly simplistic, broad-brush statistical nonsense.

We have become a culture and society who can be easily managed by simplistic statistics designed and weaponized to elicit FEAR. We need to learn MORE before making critical decisions based on misleading statistical analysis. It doesn’t matter how many charts and graphs and maps are fabricated if they’re reporting simplistic data. Deceitful data … that has little relevance to the average person. And then calling it … “science” and “data”. That nobody can argue with … “data”. Uh … yes I can.

  6. Kenji, I was just looking this am at the numbers where I live, a city of about 140,000. So far 56 cases diagnosed, zero hospitalized. Yes all data regarding this can be dismissed because of what the medical profession was told to do regarding the deaths.

reading what passes for our local rag here
in ontario, canada… found out that the
official provincial definition of an actual
outbreak is, wait for it… two cases.

        chew on that.

        1. When Jerry Brown declares that CA is in a perpetual state of “drought” … because Global Warming … and your sins against Gaia. it’s important to remember there is NO specific definition of the word “drought”. No prescribed minimum amount of precipitation over a specified time period. Nope. Drought is anything you imagine it to be … and it can last as lonnnnnggg as you want … such as what Jerry did to our last “drought” that actually, functionally, ENDED 1-1/2 years before Jerry said it did.

So … “pandemic” ? It’s another one of those REALLY SCARY words … with a “flexible” definition.

BTW … we ARE eventually going to learn that the ACTUAL death rate for this politicized pandemic was less than that of all the yearly flus. We are allowing ourselves to be manipulated by BIG Media, BIG Business (all neatly bailed out), and BIG Governments… and yet again … the Small Businessman gets crushed. The Small investor gets crushed. It’s just that our crushings keep getting BIGGER and BIGGER!

  7. From Andrew Cuomo’s executive March 23rd Executive Order;

“Notwithstanding any law or regulation to the contrary, health care providers are relieved of recordkeeping requirements to the extent necessary for health care providers to perform tasks as may be necessary to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak, including, but not limited to, requirements to maintain medical records that accurately reflect the evaluation and treatment of patients, or requirements to assign diagnostic codes or to create or maintain other records for billing purposes. Any person acting reasonably and in good faith under this provision shall be afforded absolute immunity from liability for any failure to comply with any recordkeeping requirement. In order to protect from liability any person acting reasonably and in good faith under this provision, requirements to maintain medical records under Subdivision 32 of Section 6530 of the Education Law, Paragraph (3) of Subdivision (a) of Section 29.2 of Title 8 of the NYCRR, and Sections 58-1.11, 405.10, and 415.22 of Title 10 of the NYCRR, or any other such laws or regulations are suspended or modified to the extent necessary for health care providers to perform tasks as may be necessary to respond to the COVID-19 outbreak;”

Perhaps not coincidentally, also from that same March 23rd Executive Order,

“No pharmacist shall dispense hydroxychloroquine or chloroquine except when written as prescribed for an FDA-approved indication; or as part of a state approved clinical trial related to COVID-19 for a patient who has tested positive for COVID-19, with such test result documented as part of the prescription. No other experimental or prophylactic use shall be permitted, and any permitted prescription is limited to one fourteen day prescription with no refills.”

Sorry Kate, their “juicing” the numerator. Also, re: the charts yesterday comparing mortality rates for ChiCom flu v. overall mortality: may have missed, but not seeing where these were “seasonally adjusted” in terms of “deaths/day” to reflect that there should be more “deaths/day” from Oct. to May to reflect the normal flu season? Maybe someone else can confirm on this?

  8. Further to “juicing” the numerator; Why would you want to “juice” the no. of deaths you ask? Because you are desperate to try to ensure that the mortality rate is more than the normal flu and, especially, that it is more than Obama’s flu (the flu previously know as “swine” flu, which I might note was also a ChiCom originated flu, surprised?).

    But, ntadatrdr, you ask, “How can “juicing” the numerator make that much difference if expanded testing starts to significantly increase the denominator?”. Well, that’s where the CDC (very conveniently) came to the rescue of the “pandemic horror, it’s all Trump’s fault narrative” (as per the article here;

    https://www.google.com/url?client=internal-element-cse&cx=016417505616455789357:mttpazkfree&q=http://tmp.americanthinker.com/articles/2020/04/a_solution_to_covid19_is_in_sight.html&sa=U&ved=2ahUKEwiYprO2zPfoAhXKrZ4KHTOBBs0QFjAAegQIABAC&usg=AOvVaw1luk6jS4Iq91DrseBsvn4J

“Why aren’t the tests being utilized? The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) are standing in the way. On its website, the CDC has extremely restrictive criteria regarding who should be tested. The only ones with high priority are:
    1.Hospitalized patients.
2.Those who are in long-term care facilities with symptoms.
3.Those who are 65 years of age or older with symptoms.
4.Those with underlying conditions with symptoms.
    5.First responders with symptoms.

Additional people can receive testing, but only if resources allow. These include:
    1.Critical infrastructure workers with symptoms.
2.Individuals who do not meet any of the above categories with symptoms.
3.Health care workers and first responders.
4.Individuals with mild symptoms in communities experiencing high COVID-19 hospitalizations.”.

No question in my mind that the denominator is significantly understated as a result of this directive.

The left have tried really hard for the “fix to be in” on this, but, just like the Russia Impeachment Hoax and the Ukraine Impeachment Hoax, it is not working. It’s not working because it is fundamentally not true and the majority of Americans, who are seeing their lives turned upside down on this both emotionally and financially, are beginning to see it is not true. Trusting they will vote accordingly in November

    1. But … but … but … “Trump too late” … “conspiracy theory” !!! sqwak!!!

  9. “Journalists” are the last to know ©
    Remember that.
They don’t care, give a damn, don’t know.
They can and will lie, misrepresent, obfuscate, omit.
They know stuff, though they have trouble with reality and truth.
They are ‘right’ simply because they went to school for a long time.

    Isn’t that sufficient?
