If my local school district did such a thing … it would be home schooling for the lot of my kids. Assuming they couldn’t FORCE me to take a “transgendered” Student into MY home. Sorry, I don’t teach the mentally ill.
Even if you wished to support transgender people in every way, and believed that “misgendering” or “deadnaming” is a form of violence against transgendered people, even if you supported the preteen hormone therapy and the surgeries and transgendered women in sports, even if you supported all of that, this behavior would have to turn you off of the movement altogether. They are taking every opportunity available to harass and abuse this woman and her family and somehow they think they are in the right, that they are justified in their actions. Disgusting. Revolting.

It’s scary to see the tactics that are used to infest the educational system, corporations, and even the church. Perhaps the most disgusting aspect is that if it’s being inflicted upon children, their parents have little to say on the matter.
Of course, the actual science about it is completely ignored. I suppose that’s settled, too.
Leave the West. Emigrate. There are loads of great places where this will NEVER ne done to you and your kids. Go where you are treated best. Remember, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and US were once being built by people fleeing religious persecution in their native countries of Europe. Time to reacquaint ourselves eith that fine tradition once more. The developing world is there and waiting. Dangerous? Yes. But full of opportunity for the willing and able.
Remember, these developing countries very much DO love and respect our culture, they know what incredible skills we bring, and will bend over backwards to welcome us and make us feel right at home. That is way more than I can say about the West.

China rightly does not tolerate tranny insanity, for example, but unless you are of Chinese descent or married to someone who is, immigrating to China permanently is essentially impossible. I would say we’re at the point where we need a parliamentary commission to identify the scale of the problem, the human rights involved and how to safeguard those rights. Now I’m not naive enough to think that the present government would be a very credible partner in that effort but it will need to happen soon, so another reason to vote this government out of office.
I can see that this is a left-right divide sort of issue but I have to wonder what percentage of leftists are comfortable with it and why. It might turn out to be a much smaller percentage than we suppose, in fact this may be one of those issues that has been pushed into social prominence by a very small but noisy elite who do not have much support. It is just the novelty and shock value that prevents much organized push back.
So the answer would seem to be to have a clear definition of children’s rights in this area, followed by mechanisms to safeguard those rights. To me, it seems automatic that the choice would be in favour of children’s rights to maintain their biological gender identity, not in favour of any parent or guardian imposing culturally derived standards of “preferred” gender. Schools, day cares and family members should have places to report abuses of those rights and law enforcement should have tools to enforce those rights, up to and including removing the children from the care or any contact with parents or guardians who propose to usurp the rights.
The challenge will be to define the rights in such a way that sanity prevails and this madness ends before it spreads out any further. It would be interesting to get a sense of numbers involved here, anecdotally we know of cases, but are we talking one in a thousand, one in a hundred, or what? Any number is too large but the response would need to take into account the size of the problem.
A minimum age for self-defining of gender would be part of this, and a young adult age rather than something easily coachable by twisted advice should be established, probably the same age as sexual consent. And as a principle, it is hard for me to see how you could have co-existing legal standards of legal consent at 16 or 18 and consent forced upon younger children to gender alteration.
I hope that Scheer and Bernier will make this an issue for the campaign and follow up with efforts to protect these children with better legislation. And I am sure that judges and courts would welcome some clarity in a social issue that has landed in our midst almost out of the blue.

I am not sure whether existing law is capable of providing an adequate context, as you imply the rights of protecting parents are probably being flagrantly violated but it gets into this legal grey zone of balancing rights, although that’s just what a proponent would say, if I were on the SCOC I would argue for overwhelming natural law favoring rights of the children and therefore the protecting adult parties.
Seems to be a matter of some urgency to get this law clarified and beefed up if necessary before this becomes a social disaster of larger proportions. We can easily foresee that children subjected to these disputes will end up traumatized and psychologically scarred for life, through no fault of their own. I would just say to progressives, if this became some cause of the evangelical right by some unfathomable twist of theology, would it not be a slam-dunk cause for progressives to take the sides of the children involved against the menace of the theological fascists as they would see things? For me this is a mirror image situation.
