Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Wish he was on another platform. I closed my fakebook account about a year ago, and I ain’t going back. Twitter account is just for DJT. When he steps down, that account will be dustbinned as well.
Keep in mind folks, this is the same incompetent asshole Pat Tillman’s parents had to drag into a congressional hearing to try to get the truth about their son’s friendly-fire death.
McChrystal not only tried to cover-up the whole incident but intentionally lied to Tillman’s parents and mislead an entire nation regarding the suspicious death of their son.
And as a consequence, what happens to this piece of sh*t? He retires, most likely with a nice pension and benefits, and writes a book about “leadership”??? WTF!?!?
Obama, Clinton, McChrystal, these are the people who put America on its current path towards self-destruction. If the hypocrisy of these people and how they were rewarded for their incompetence weren’t bad enough , it’s now abundantly clear the results their so-called “leadership” and how they are all part of a group designed to reward themselves for their corruption at the expense of the people they continuously lie to while swearing to serve and protect.
anonymous: The TRUTH EXACTLY. Trump needs all the help he can get to get rid of what they call the DEEP STATE. Where Obama, Hillary and others are doing their damage to USA. As Trump will say MAGA. Keep up the good work Pres Trump. If America goes down so goes CANADA!!
exactamundo.
can somebody get POTUS Trump on the phone and ask him to slap our PM socks upside his bubblehead
as many times for whatever reason he chooses?
Incompetence and political activity at every level. It is debilitating.
This is the same thing with Lindsay Shepherd;
Do you do hate yourself?
Do you hate everyone around you?
Do you hate the mere concept of happiness?
Then you are politically left!
In socialism, there is no such thing as an ally, no such thing as friendship. There is only the bucket of crabs. Brown nosing does not work, because eventually the other crabs will pull you back down. Crabs in a bucket never do any favors for anyone. They never make good on debts.
I saw this guy interviewed on Fox. they wanted to talk about his book and his supposed thoughts on leadership, but like an obsessed drone he kept turning to Trump. It is true – success in the military is like success in any organization. People who get to the top are more skilled at playing politics than anything else.
Not quite. It’s more accurate to say that the army is a pure meritocracy below the rank of general, and some, but not all play the game, rather than do their duty, to ascend to the rank of general. Crap presidents appoint crap generals , it’s as simple as that. Ex.: Wesley Clark. Presidents and congress only are permitted to interfere ( vote on) promotions at the general rank. There were some, during the Civil War, who were per crap like Sickles.
“It’s more accurate to say that the army is a pure meritocracy below the rank of general,”
Hardly. The officer cadre is stuffed with incompetents who get promoted merely because they understand politics and play the game.
Volume IV of the Somalia Commission’s Report addressed the terrible shortcomings of the commissioned ranks in our armed forces:
http://publications.gc.ca/collections/collection_2015/bcp-pco/CP32-65-1997-2-eng.pdf
I have no reason to believe anything has changed.
I was referring to the US Army. The problems in Canadian forces are sporadic, rather than systemic.
“The problems in Canadian forces are sporadic, rather than systemic.”
Things must have changed then. Because one of the most stinging indictments of the Somalia Report was that the commissioned ranks were infected with a culture of careerism to such an extent that the welfare of the troops was routinely overlooked. And that blanket statement was applied to the entire officer cadre….not just the Canadian Airborne Regiment.
McChrystal has been critical of President Donald Trump’s conduct but sees that Trump’s rise to the presidency holds lessons not only about leaders but those who look for leaders.
“I think if we look at President Trump, he emerged, he didn’t create the dissatisfaction that caused him to be successful in the election. There were already things brewing in the American political system so he emerged from that situation,” McChrystal said. “I think almost independent of his personality what we need to do is look in the mirror right now. Stop looking at Trump or Rep. Nancy Pelosi … or Sen. Chuck Schumer … or somebody else, look in the mirror.
“Decide what we believe is the necessary leadership for our country, decide what we believe our values are and then that’s what we will get because that’s what we will demand. Stop waiting for somebody to tell us what to think. Decide what we think, decide what we believe and live to that.”
Do people like this leftist twit, collecting a massive $$ Military Pension from US taxpayers, ever listen to their own words, or even proof READ their own words!? In the same short section in which he dismisses Trump as NOT being a “true leader” … because he simply profited from voter dissatisfaction … goes on to chastise the same people who ELECTED Trump to: ”decide what we believe is the necessary leadership for our country, decide what we believe our values are and then that’s what we will get because that’s what we will demand. Hey General LOSER! That’s EXACTLY what The People DID!! And our new “laterally promoted” leader, PDJT is a farrrrrrr better leader than anyone churned out of the Political “Guild”. Pro tip: Read Your own book advice, you Twit!!
Wow! No wonder he was a FAILED military leader … his own thoughts are so jumbled as to be incomprehensible. Or rather … provide a transparent view into his highly politicized motivations.
And HOW is it possible this FAILED Leader is teaching a college course on … leadership?! Par for the American University system … Par for our politicized military.
From this exchange in the comments I don’t think Yon likes Trump either.
“Barbara Spalding Would you be specific about what Trump lies about?

Michael Yon Where to start?”
Generals sucking up to the political leadership is nothing new, and Canada is no different. You pretty much have to be a Liberal to get promoted beyond Lt. Col. in Canada. Although the embattled Admiral Murray seems to be not in that mold, nor was General Lewis MacKenzie.
As was Chief of Defence Staff Hillier. Great book on his military life, despised the political agenda of Ottawa and DOD.
Agreed. Was he not promoted by Harper?
“…nor was General Lewis MacKenzie.”
Dead on, Ken. MacKenzie was the exception in the Somalia Report: he was singled out for his complete honesty, and for his full, unequivocal acceptance of responsibility for his (few) omissions and failures. A man’s man, a soldier’s soldier, and a shining example of that mix of dignity and humility that we can only wish would go hand in hand with every Queen’s Commission.
“Practically sucking off her toenails?”
Where is the vomitorium?
The sycophant as “leader” is as old as institutions.
Napoleon cursed it.
Gilbert and Sullivan mocked it.
The poor trooper in every time lived it.
Seems the reason we entrust government with war,is to make it as painful, costly and drawn out a process as possible..
Our founders wanted less war,so they entrusted it to the bureaus.
We wanted less healthcare so we set up government healthcare.
Both are working.
Of course, the very first thing your government or military superior tells you is that they DON’T want you to be a ‘YES’ man. The second thing they do is FIRE YOU for telling them ‘NO’!!
Having done my time in(Viet-Nam’s sunny clime (as Kipling might say), I can assure you that leaders cared nothing for the enlisted, who were disposable, only for their resumes’ and perks. Officers lived and worked in the air-conditioning (some exceptions), took frequent trips to Saigon and out-of-country for important meetings (cough), got their medals and promotions in good order, and could book “circuitous” – meaning vacation – flights back home.
one of the many factors that eventually led to the fall of Saigon and S Vietnam in 75.
