      The one child policy wasn’t necessary here as the boomers didn’t have the large families like that of the “greatest generation” because of the availability of birth contol pills. Secondly, inflation was a deterrent to having large families. Thirdly, political instability was a deterrent if one lived in the province of Quebec during the Quebec crisis. A lot of Anglo speaking people left that province and had to start a new life elsewhere. Not an easy task.

      Good question, because he would have to be asking a certain sect of the new immigrants to curb their enthusiasm for carnal relations. They are the only ones pumping out to the tune of an average of 5 children per family versus the Canadian average of 1.5 children.

      And that is why such a young “état” like Canada needs immigrants. They become liberal voters who will replenish the coffers for the pensions of the elites, thus “killing two birds with one stone” as the saying goes. These people reproduce unlike Canadians, and now with an aging population, who like to travel, have nice homes, drive big cars, go to Tim Hortons and watch Hockey Night in Canada, who are they to rely on.

      I doubt that the silly carbon footprint will matter much longer once the Feds run out of other people’s money because the Feds need their pound of flesh. Right?

    1. The elected representatives of those people upon who’s land the pipeline will travel, support the pipeline.
      The hereditary chiefs, oppose the pipeline as it brings wealth and a sense of being to those in the area, which diminishes their role.
      The hereditary chiefs don’t bring anything to the conversation, those screaming folks in the video appear to be of the same brain damaged ilk wandering their lives asking for coffee money in all our city’s central core areas, only now, they have bullhorns “asking” for it.

However, she just might’ve suggested something close to the way of a genuine phenomenon though. A simile would be that B.C. would disconnect from the mainland like a ‘Prince Rupert’s Drop.’ This would be more than accommodating for Alberta! A good Freudian slip into the mix, perhaps? Ha! Lends meaning to the expression, ” By George, I think I’ve got it?” Ha, again!

      1. White colonials fought to defend Hong Kong during WW II right after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbour. Many of those who served there were Canadians.

        Knowing Prinz Dummkopf, he’ll apologize for that (along with the now-mandatory waterworks), but only to China. He doesn’t seem to have an opinion about Japan, so he won’t be apologizing to Tokyo any time soon.

        This is the same man who boasted that he’d stare down Putin if there was a confrontation with Russia.

        1. Ahem–I could legitimately say “ich bin Berliner”, which would mean that I was a resident of that city, that is, until I became a Canadian citizen. It’s similar to another expression JFK used earlier in that same speech: “civis romanus sum”.

          To say “ich bin ein Berliner” means that one is a pastry. Yes, it sounds humorous but he was likely doing a word-for-word translation from English. However, it didn’t matter to those who listened. Many knew enough English due to the presence of the American and British forces in the city that they understood what he meant. Those who didn’t would have heard his message through the translator who was with him.

          As for Berliners being loonies and socialists, it wasn’t always that way. Because of its unique status due to the partition after WW II, it became culturally and intellectually isolated. People drifted there because it was seen different, which its why a lot like Vancouver.

    3. Populism is not going away. Mr. Butts would do well to read Stephen Harper s new book: Right Here, Right Now. The uptick in populism across the globe is indicative of areas where the politicians have been failing. Harper presents conservative ideas for responding, and they are very good. Trudeau and Butts are way of the beam and will create a backlash against “progressives”. That backlash is already happening in many places.

    The Federal Government does not release data that isolates illegal immigrants who commit crimes, they only look at citizens vs. non-citizens. “Non-citizens” is not a good benchmark because it includes both legal immigrants who have not yet become citizens, illegal immigrants and people who are here on a visa…all people in the U.S. who aren’t citizens. In other words, as the federal government does not ask about immigration for its crime data (only citizen status), any study claiming that on a national basis illegal immigrants commit fewer crimes is flawed. Additionally, the federal government records federal crimes. Most of the offenses people talk about in discussions about Illegal immigrant crimes are state crimes such as rape, burglary, murder, vehicular homicide, etc.

    Some states do record immigration status, and it is done in cooperation with the Department of Homeland Security for those states who share their illegal immigrant crime data with the federal government.

    But of course, unlike UnMe, we intuit this; we know this without a study.

    Brison is the first casualty in the Admiral Norman fiasco. The libranos know they are going to take it in the shorts over their handling of Norman.
    One of two things happened here. Brison was sacrificed and will resurface later appointed to a librano sinecure or brison took the high jump ahead of the trial because he’s buried up to his nut in Irving graft.

      The subtext here thats going to cause some friction within the Sockmonkey caucus is that a replacement has to be shuffled into the Treasury Board portfolio. This is one of the senior portfolios, ministers don’t just resign from that one unless they got a better offer, or SHTF. You alluded to that so we can wait for the fallout from the trial.
      But digressing back to the pending cabinet shuffle, this is one of those portfolios that an ambitious MP with future leadership plans will feel its their entitlement. Thusly, should one of these prima donnas get passed over, what are the odds they will let it lie and not raise a stink? With that thought in mind I can think of at least one cabinet minister that thinks rather highly of herself to expect a promotion.

    At one point, Eastwood said to Keith, “I turn 88 on Monday.”
