Ontario PC Leadership

Update: They finally made it official. Doug Ford wins.

I’ve been out of radio contact for a few hours. This is the latest I’ve found on the results…

Twitter chatter indicates Ford won narrowly, and a manual recount was asked for for Christine Elliot, so no decision yet. (Didn’t they do this electronically???)
This seems to be confirmed, however.

So it appears the basic takeaway is that the party is run by a bunch of morons. They’re being kicked out of the room before a decision can be announced, because they only booked it until 7pm.

Just pack the province up and mail it to California where it belongs. I’m out of here.
(CBC says Doug Ford has prevailed… but Hillary is refusing to concede.)

  1. Oh Christ they may have just handed a lifeline to the Wynne Liberals. The OPC is transcendentally retarded. Will parties PLEASE learn to select their leadership with a caucus vote like in olden times already? Time to take power away from the people.

  2. You are right. Trump will never win the Republican nomination. Er, well, at least he’ll never win the election.

  3. Apparently it’s under review. They’re trying to rig this one too.

  4. Cue for the alt right accusations from the exclusive inclusive progressive regressive neo bigots.

  5. Unbelievable, the other Ford wins, but this time it’s for a friggin province. Now I wonder what those idiots who booted out Patrick Brown are thinking. It’s lose-lose for Ontario in the next election, either they get a Ford repeat or they get more Liberals.

  6. Not an unconditional fan of Tarek Fatah but I love that tweet. Couldn’t agree more.

  7. How is Ford win a loss? Because CBC and UnMe told you so or for what other reason?

  8. Yes yes it would be so much better if Ontario PCs votes for liberal.
Sucks loosing another one doesn’t it?

  9. People may very well remember Rob Ford the parking lot crack smoker. You do recall that they’re brothers, and that Rob was a councillor when Rob was the crack-mayor? I dunno, it’s hard to disassociate the two.

  10. Yes people remember Rob Ford, the greatest Toronto major in decades. You think that association with Late Rob Ford hurts Doug? Think again.

  11. I suspect the Liberals figured out a way to vote for Ford en masse. Wouldn’t put it past them.

  12. “Yes people remember Rob Ford, the greatest Toronto major in decades. ”
WTF did he accomplish as mayor, again? What did he do that was so great? Aside from put a tingle up your leg.
And the thing is, Rob was the smart(er) one. Doug is an idiot. The kind of idiot who really believes his anti-elitist shtick. I certainly hope the PCs can rig their way out of this mess.

  13. Yes yes of course, because Elliott would be so different from Eves/Tory/Hudak/Brown.

  14. Oh the sweet sweet schadenfreude. Keep crying. If you cry enough you can try using your tears for lube, you gonna need it.

  15. Rob Ford was buying crack in parking lots and smoking crack pipes with his illustrious drug pals WHILE HE WAS MAYOR. Now, perhaps Doug is wee bit cleaner (let’s hope), but heck, enough with the Fords already. The party dumped Brown because of his flirtations with young ladies, so they could get the brother of the parking-lot crack-smoking mayor.

  16. If Ford doesn’t win I will not vote for the PCs. If the choices on the ballot are Liberals, NDP, or the other Liberals I’ll not bother voting. Or maybe I’ll vote for the Liberals. The sooner the province burns completely to the ground the sooner we can rebuild. No point prolonging the agony.

  17. Eves/Tory/Hudak/Brown are four completely different individuals, albeit all found a way to lose.
Eves was possibly the worst premier in the history of the province, accomplishing absolutely nothing and ensuring a PC loss in the election.
Tory was a potential decent premier, although barely conservative, who ran one of the dumbest campaigns in history, only to be eclipsed by Hudak.
Hudak was a true conservative who ran the worst campaign in Ontario history, literally scaring the shit out of anybody who might have been indecisive with their vote, because somehow he must have thought that was a good idea.
Brown, well, who knows how it came to be Brown ended up trying to run for the leadership to replace himself.
Anyway, the four are completely different from each other and Elliott is equally different. But we do know she would not be partying with drugs during her tenure.

  18. My union president bought a membership so he could vote… vote for whoever he thought would do the most damage to PC election chances. He told me he was thinking Ford.

  19. I get the impression that the OPC wants to be the lovable losers. I wonder if Doug Ford can disappoint them by actually winning an election.

  20. The Ford supporters are, to put it mildly, mentally retarded. But that’s the PCPO for you. Cretins who consistently pull defeat from the jaws of victory. Christine Elliot would be Premier of Ontario in June without breaking a sweat. Now that blowhard cretin Ford is leader of the brain-dead party of Ontario, we face another four years of liberal corruption. Congratulate yourselves, Ford supporters. You’re not only unworthy of PC membership, you’re actively against Ontario’s welfare. But then, your collective IQ is that of cow manure. And to anyone comparing Ford to Trump… stuff it up your syphilitic arse. Ford is no Trump, and don’t you dare insult Trump like that.

  21. Conservatives being conservatives this outcome isn’t a surprise. Hell if it happened here in Alberta a new party would be formed. That won’t happen in ON.
If Ford is the winner I’d offer Elliot an olive branch (deputy premier if the PC’s form government) and move the party right. She would be effective bringing the center vote. I’m guessing ON voters have had enough of Katewynne and the libranos.
I don’t care what the G&M or the red Star journos have to say I’m thinking the province is looking for an Iron Mike Harris type and maybe the PC’s just delivered one.

  22. Regardless of who wins, the teachers, unions, civil servants, CBC global Toronto star globe and mail and ctv will begin their attack ads and the sheep in this province will once again vote in the dyke.

  23. You don’t get it, I could not care less if Rob smoked crack, wearing a pink tutu, while bouncing on a pogo stick up his a$$. He did everything he could have done to slow down or at times stop the progressive regenerating of the society and he was the only major who did that.
As for Eves/Tory/Hudak/Brown being different, no they were not. They kept losing to Libranos while simultaneously turning PCs into Libranos Light. FETE.

  24. “You didn’t answer my question: ”
Bitch please. How many times do you need to be informed that you are here to be mocked and insulted not to be argued with.

  25. Unme: WTF did he accomplish as mayor, again?
Well according to the far right Toronto Life /sarc:

On the labour file, Ford pulled off a previously inconceivable trifecta: he got the city’s largest union locals to sign collective agreements on his terms and outsourced waste collection west of Yonge—all while avoiding any work stoppages. Compare that record with that of David Miller, under whose watch the union’s ranks and paycheques swelled and they still saw fit to wage a strike action that left the city reeking in its own filth.
Labour costs were the main reason that, during Miller’s seven years at the helm, the city’s annual operating budget grew by roughly six per cent per year. Only two years into Ford’s tenure, expenditures have essentially flatlined, from $9.405 billion last year to $9.432 billion this year.

Unme: Aside from put a tingle up your leg.
That was actually Chris Matthew’s response to Obama. No one ever claimed a Rob Ford leg thrill.

Unme: And the thing is, Rob was the smart(er) one. Doug is an idiot.
Not according to that other far right wing publication MacLean’s /sarc:

Those nefarious forces are easier on the ego than what’s apparently the truth: that Ford’s campaign is being run by his brother Doug, Jr., an older, leaner, more polished version of Rob and a candidate for council in his kid brother’s old ward.

Unme: I certainly hope the PCs can rig their way out of this mess.
Only a progressive would see “rigging” the process as a legitimate way out of a mess.

  26. “Doug Ford is an idiot, he can’t possibly win an election.”
“Jim Prentice is a smart sensible man with Sophia centre-right credentials, he can’t possibly lose an election.”
Smart money has been a losing bet since 2015.

  27. “Congratulate yourselves, Ford supporters. ”
Thank you, thank you. I bought PC membership twice, once to vote for Randy Hillier, once to vote for Doug Ford. Feels good. Oh an BTW there are many people like I

  28. I love all the comments on this thread from the antifa communists who are having meltdowns because the deplorable members of the Ontario PC’s finally elected a real conservative.
Ford is going to make Ontario great again. Fuckin’ A.

  29. Don’t think so, not this time. The non politically correct candidates tend to be immune from politically correct bull$hit. Besides I’d rather lose with Ford than win with Brown.

  30. You’re right she could likely be premier of Ontario without raising a sweat, and if she is how will she be different than Wynne?

  31. You don’t get it, I could not care less if Rob smoked crack, wearing a pink tutu, while bouncing on a pogo stick up his a$$.
That’s the best part of all of this. Rob Ford on crack was a better mayor than any Liberal sober.

  32. Oh come one she would be different than Wynne tofay. She would be just a tad more progressive than McGuinty two decades ago.

  33. It would take a special person to make the effort to swing Ontario back to fiscal sanity, like Mike Harris they will require armed security for the rest of their lives for protection against violent black shirts and other dog-breakfast lefty lunatics. Ford’s probably the one for the job, any conventional politician/aristocrat would fold to the social pressure.

  34. Do you mind if I call you a moron the first time you bitch about Premier Wynne after June’s election? If you and your ilk are willing to take responsibilty for another 4 years of Wynne because you’re too fooking thick to understand reality, I’ll respect that. Otherwise sod off swampy.

  35. If you can’t answer that question, you’re likely the sort of mental defective that makes sure the PCPO remains the dumbest, most inept political party in Kanukistan

  36. I’ll laugh as the province burns to the ground. Why do you think a red tory will be any different than a liberal? We’ll be better off if we go full Venezuela sooner so we can start to recover sooner.

  37. Well at least you’re answering my question. Still, flatlining operating costs =/= The Greatest Evar.
@Tanker: what I find hilarious about your post is that your description of Ford supporters exactly matches that of Trump supporters. They are both idiotic, full of sound and fury, and signifying nothing. Hey give Doug credit where due: he can speak in complete sentences and isn’t overtly racist.

  38. You really must have an inflated ego to believe I care what you call me. Ford has the best chance of winning against Libranos. If he loses I’d rather lose with him than with the others. At least for the first time in many years PCs would present a meaningful alternative to Libranos. But I don’t think it will come to that. And don’t worry, after Ford wins I will not be calling you a moron (well at least not more often than I call you now. Moron).

  39. “Still, flatlining operating costs =/= The Greatest Evar.”
Maybe not greatest ever but certainly the greatest lately.

  40. Typical cuckservative. Lets lose nobly and with a tear in the eye because muh conservatism rather than work for a win. Pukes like you is why I’ve abandoned conservatism for the alt-right. The goal is to get Wynne out. Putting Ford against her is a losing proposition. But hey, at least you can feel good about your total lack of tactical ability.
