In what might be the Left’s worst nightmare since Donald Trump got elected, there is now a growing group of supporters hoping Ivanka Trump will run for president in 2024.
One might think that many women on the left would support the notion of a female president – especially one, who by all accounts, is quite “progressive” in her thinking. But one also needs to understand that to Leftists, Ivanka Trump is not a woman. She’s just an evil right-winger, the daughter of the man they have been indoctrinated to despise.
She’s a beautiful, classy, intelligent woman. But she was not born in the U-S. To elect her would require a Constitutional amendment and that’s not going to happen.
Hey Ghost- last I checked New York City was still part of the USA. It certainly was when Ivanka was born there.

With a population of roughly 1/3 billion people, there is NO intelligent reason to EVER have another Trump, Bush, Clinton, or Obama, etc, etc, family member in the White House. It is pure partisan greed to create these dynasties and then relentlessly milk their ‘fame’ for votes.
A pure case of popularity being deemed more important than substance, I remember when us lowly citizens used to complain bitterly about the crassness of political parties doing that.

I agree with Greg. After our experience with the Bushes, I prefer a limit of one presidency per family.
Assuming Trump gets re-elected in 2020, then 2024 will not be a good year for a Republican presidential candidate. I fear the pendulum will swing back to the Democrats that year.
Watching Trump’s appearance in PA yesterday, I watched as he introduced his family and associates on stage … when he introduced Ivanka … the crowd went WILD … way more than for anyone else (Donald included). There can be no doubt that Ivanka is immensely popular
Ivanka is the Kate Middleton of the USA. Both were born/married into Royalty … and are wearing their crowns with incomparable grace, dignity, and a common touch. Only the nastiest of HATERS run-down either of these beautiful, graceful, women. Do I generally admire “Royals”? No. But I admire quality … and these two women are the real deal. Or they at least “play” their parts to perfection.
But as much as I admire Ivanka’s positives … she simply isn’t a conservative … at all. Family leave? Meh. I could care less … so corporations have to provide paid leave … its hardly the worst imposition by the government on business, and in the context of the massive corporate tax cut … meh. But her views on Global Warming are a non-starter for me. I have some hope that she would “grow out” of her “belief” in junk science … but unless she makes that move, I could never vote for her. Although I seriously doubt she would need my vote.
America is insanely attached to dynasties.. They miss the allure of the British royalty….The Kennedy Camelot.. What other reason would Trump be opening the door to “his” dynasty… Invanka is the American royal apprentice and she has learned how not be used by others….

Assuming for a moment that Ivanka Trump did become the first female president, it would effectively be a “double first”: she’d also be the first Jewish president. And I have to say that, by all accounts, she has the appearance of an intelligent, able person who would be at least as qualified for the job as any other contender.
However, I strongly agree with others here that such dynasticism is particularly unseemly in a putatively constitutional republic. Clinton’s candidacy essentially rested on being a president’s wife, which is positively Argentinian; the Bush clan made an egregious attempt to install a third family member in the Oval Office in less than three decades.
For this sort of rule-by-family-compact, the American colonists sent poor old George III packing?
I am less worried by this family dynasty … than I am with the “political class” that has subverted America’s government and weaponized it against the American Democracy.
But, yes, political dynasties are anathema to our Democracy … however … I blame lazy-minded voters for enabling it. Thankfully, the voters got woke from their slumber and STOPPED the Clinton dynasty from emerging.

To Kenji, Obama did slip up a couple of times. In an interview, he actually said, “my Muslim faith.” He did not realize he said it until pointed out by the interviewer, than he said “my Christian faith” in a flat voice, not even trying to explain how he could have make such a slip up.
The second time was when he referred to the famous 57 states. What apparently is uppermost in Obama’s thoughts is not the U.S. but the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, which just happened to have 57 member states, i.e. countries. That particular number is not a random error.

Trump likes to screw over both the media and the political class. To that end and also eliminating any, any, risk of having the U.S. slip back under the Dem’s political class; Ivanka should win the Dem’ presidential nomination for 2020. Think of the despair that would cause over at CNN. One would be as good as the other for western civilization. The risk for Pres. trump winning in 2020 will be high as the media will have extreme level of hate driving them.
Cruz isn’t a religious extremist my friend. And in some ways Trump’s had a real “coming to Jesus” moment over his 18 month run for office. Nothing says that more then “Access Hollywood”.
I don’t disagree that being overtly Christian isn’t going to hurt Cruz in some ways but I’m a believer that works speak louder than words and by 2024 Cruz will have a lot of good that he’ll be able to run on. Never say never my friend. That word has a biting habit…just ask “why aren’t I 50 points ahead” Hill. Who knows, maybe in 8 years there’ll be lots of ‘Boomers having their own “come to Jesus” moments when they feel their mortality more and actually start attending church again. I’m not say’n it will happen but even fire can melt steel once in awhile.

America already has a history of political dynasties predating the Bushes and Clintons.
John Adams and John Quincy Adams (father and son)
William Henry Harrison and Benjamin Harrison (grandfather and grandson)
And of course we have the Roosevelts and Kennedys
Castros in Cuba and Trudeaus here. And maybe down the road the Harpers as Ben Harper is quite political already, writing newspaper columns and active on Twitter.

If she’s the better candidate in the running, or the lesser of two evils, sure. But I hope she isn’t in it for the same reason many of us think a Clinton Mk.2, a Bush Mk.2 was not in itself a good idea. (I’m sure she’d be better than Hillary Clinton would have been.)
