Will Tesla Powerwalls Save You Money?

So Mr Arizona’s two Powerwalls will set him back about $16,000. What financial rewards will accrue from this expenditure? Probably none. As things stand his surplus solar generation offsets the electricity he imports from the grid, and while there may be complications resulting from Arizona retail electricity pricing and regulations his electricity bill should be zero or close to it. With the two Powerwalls he will store some electricity that would otherwise have gone to the grid, but he will import an equal amount less from the grid, so it will still be a wash.

Will solar panels and Tesla Powerwalls meet your home’s energy needs?

  1. Fools and their money are soon parted.
Remember, stop donating to food banks. Stop helping people you are not related to by blood. There has to be starvation, frostbite, hypothermia, and death; it is the only known cure for socialism. All the socialists have to be allowed to commit suicide. Do not enable; let them live up to their own rules.
How many studies have there been, which showed that socialists do not do charity? You give to the Red Cross, you are an enabler, you are not actually helping anyone. They say from each according to his ability, to each according to his work? Have you ever seen a socialist work? Have you ever seen a socialist give? If you still give to charity, if you still volunteer (maybe at a place that wants all white people gone?), you are just building the parasite/enabler complex.

  2. Home solar panels? Save you money? Perhaps in the very short term. But like all conservation efforts at the local level – power, water, sewage – there will come a time when the conservation effort becomes so successful that the utility company can no longer meets its day to day operating costs for the services they provide. Solution? They will have to raise their rates accordingly, and drastically. I have seen this happen with my water bill. No matter how much you try to be frugal and economical with your municipal service rates by installing solar panels, cutting back on water consumption or installing a septic system you will still be screwed financially by your local home services board. Solution. Stop trying to beat the system. It will not work. Be shitty…be happy.

  3. And that My friend is precisely What happened in Ontario with their Energy Conservation efforts back in 2007-2009. Everyone jumped on the bandwagon…energy efficient lighting, appliances etc. Ont Hydro lost so much money, they raised their rates….then came the so called renewables and it has since turned into a shit-show of massive price hikes as we all know….One can now safely say: Goodbye to the Manufacturing Centre of Canada…its all over but the excuses from the Liberals.
In Alberta, the Reigning Marxists plan on similar action.
Anti Capitalists the lot of them Federal/Provincial and in many cases Municipal as well..

  4. from the link:
“Green Mountain Power recently requested a 5% rate increase, with more such increases in future years, making it increasingly attractive to be off the grid.”
is ANY of that 5% increase in any way *related* to the advent of ‘green’ energy? as steakman points out.

  5. …and lets not forget Ontario’s latest “energy saving” gambit…
    Smart Meters
These insidious little units work as follows.
Reduce the required meter readers by 95% – Hundreds of jobs lost. They use a google style equipped vehicle. Sooooo….
11:00PM to 7:00AM you are charged the std rate…which is I am going to assume around 0.25/kwhr. (for sake of argument-not sure of actual rates but you will get the drift)
7:00 AM it ramps up to likely 0.35-0.45/kwhr until 9:30 AM.
9:30 to 3:00PM drops to ~ 0.30/kwhr. (Mid day rate – as your home heating and cooling continues).
3:00 PM it ramps back up to Peak as it was in the AM till 11:00PM.
All so you can wash Dishes and Clothes at 3:00 in morning to “save” you money.
Green Energy rammed up yer (_i_). We lived in Barrie from 2008 – 2010, and left largely on the basis that one simply cannot get ahead in any way shape or form in that Province – regardless of total annual income. Now I dread this BS coming to Alberta.
