Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I grew up in south west Sask and my mom’s family is from Shaunavon. So anyway I would visit my grandparents and Hayley lived next door before her family moved to Calgary i guess. I saw her playing in her yard one day and squeezed through the bushes that separated our yards and introduced myself. I would hang out once in a while with her when I visited my grandparents.
So anyway, one day we were talking and she was saying to me about wanting to playing hockey and of course at the time girls played ringette not hockey. So I told her that and she shot back at me “Ringette is boring, I want to play hockey!”. I can still see the look on her face. Haha, I look back now and realized what a pivotal time in her life that conversation we had took place.

The tactics remind me of a time many years ago when a ‘Have You Had Enough’ rally (the NDP were in power) was held at our local Arena. Folks like those in the video arrived very early to occupy the front rows from which they could better disrupt the event. A group of Vancouver Island U. (formerly Malaspina U.) students rushed the stage and grabbed the microphone from the speaker. Simultaneously, those occupying the front rows turned to harass the assembled crowd. When the ‘protesters’ (VIU students, union members and NDP stalwarts – including the local NDP MLA) were being ejected they disconnected the sound system and pulled the fire alarms, forcing everyone to evacuate the building.
The end always justifies the means.

Massive Data Tampering Uncovered At NASA – Warmth, Cooling Disappears Due To Incompatibility With Models

By Kenneth Richard on 16. January 2017
Why Did NASA Eliminate The Early 20th Century Warming And Mid-20th Century Cooling?
The fundamental reason why NASA has manipulated past temperature data is so that the historical climate record may conform to the IPCC models that presume variations in surface temperatures are predominantly determined by anthropogenic CO2 emissions. Fossil fuels consumption in particular and anthropogenic CO2 emissions in general plodded along steadily at about 1 GtC/year (gigatons of carbon per year) during the 1900 to 1945 period. Then, after 1945, human emissions exploded. They reached 4 GtC/year by the 1970s, 6 GtC/year by the 1990s, and 10 GtC/year by 2014.
NASA recognized that (a) anthropogenic CO2 emissions were not rising much at all while the surface temperatures were rising dramatically (1880s-1940s), and that (b) surface temperatures were cooling (1940s to 1970s) while anthropogenic CO2 emissions were surging upwards. These observed trends did not support climate modeling; instead, they undermined the models. So, to counteract this, NASA has undergone a decades-long effort to change past temperature data that do not adhere to modeled expectations.

Re: Moon walkers. I was quite surprised to see your comment. I was just wondering today, what type of watch the lunar astronauts wore. I would have guessed the Bulova Accutron, given the amount of money American taxpayers contributed to the missions, and given the fact that in the mid 60’s, the watch was US made and the talk of the town. Was quite surprised at what they wore. A Swiss watch!!

While we’re on the topic of US made watches, this is a good video. I do however question the part about astronauts utilizing Accutron.

While Hayley Wickenheiser may have appreciated the sendoff Prime Minister Justin Trudeau gave her during her retirement ceremony ahead of the Edmonton Oilers-Calgary Flames game Saturday night, not everyone in the audience was that ecstatic.
The prime minister wasn’t in Edmonton but instead sent a video message to the female hockey star. In a video posted to YouTube, hockey fans can clearly be heard booing at Trudeau as the message plays.

I was quite surprised to see your comment.
I’m a long-time space buff. I began grad studies in that field and worked briefly in the business.
Although I never flew in space, the closest thing I got to doing so was speaking with my fellow hams over a number of amateur radio satellites.
A Swiss watch!!
An interesting article. Considering that accuracy in timing was essential for the astronauts to do their jobs, it makes sense that NASA use what it would have considered the best watch.
As for using a foreign-made timepiece, don’t forget that the Hasselblad cameras they used were made in Sweden.
How much money has flowed out of Alberta to Ottawa? A lot
Gary Lamphier, Edmonton Journal
When economists say Alberta has been Canada’s key engine of growth in recent decades, that’s really what they mean. Without Alberta’s energy wealth, this country would have been a fiscal basket case long ago. Now that Alberta’s oil-fired economy is also struggling, Canada is heading for the fiscal swamp.
So just how much money has flowed out of Alberta to Ottawa? A lot. Between 2000 and 2014, on a net basis, Alberta’s individual and corporate taxpayers shipped an estimated $200 billion-plus to the federal government. That’s what left the province, less what the feds reinvested here.
To put that lofty figure in perspective, it’s nearly 12 times the value of the $17.4 billion Alberta Heritage Savings Trust Fund. No other province — including Ontario, with three times Alberta’s population — even comes close to matching this province’s contribution to the federation.
Even more remarkable, few Canadians seem to be aware of this, except in the vaguest sense. Conspicuously, I’ve never seen these numbers reported in the national media or disclosed by federal and provincial politicians.
And after calling not one but four leading public policy think tanks, I couldn’t find a single expert who has researched this data, or who was willing to discuss it at any length. Some seemed downright defensive about it, as if it was “un-Canadian” to explicitly acknowledge one province’s outsized contribution to the federation.

Too bad Hayley wasn;t younger, the way the NHL is going (watered down garbage and getting gayer by the minute)its only a matter of time before its mandated “co-ed”. There is no better example of the lefts war on masculinity than the sad state of Trudopias two national sports, Hockey and Lacrosse… although there are those that like the basketball on ice American college hockey type game that passes for “NHL hockey” these days, I’m not one of them. Junior Hockey used to be outstanding too, now its just as boring and gay as Bettmans NHL… too bad.
What a stupid comment.
Great Tip John…much thanx….this is one I have been wishing to ram down the throats of a few of my friends..
Cheers,
Yeah, yeah … women’s hockey. A totally WHITE sport. A totally RACIST sport ! Where are the womyn ovvvv col-or on the ice ? Where are the brown faces ? It’s time to eliminate all Federal funding of womyn’s hockey ? Wait! What? What’s that you say? There are lesbians on the ice? … OK … that’s cool! OK, then we need MORE Federal funding to help all LGBT girls play hockey!
Hayley Wickenheiser? End of an era. The future of women’s sport lies with men in dresses.
I thought Wickenheiser played in the NHL?
I could care less about wimmins sport.
News about the funding of protesters on the countrywide scale.

Easy money.

The only question remains is, who is supplying the money?
There maybe an easy answer, see if you can guess.
John Galt;
$200 billion out to the Feds is not a surprise. One of my biggest criticisms of Harper was the fact that Equalization was never exposed for what it was. It was totally designed as an institutionalization of wealth transfer to Ottawa which was, of course, controlled by Ontario.
The failure of the CPC to engage in a national discussion of how Canada operates sealed my disgust with federal politics. What passes as a leadership race for the conservative movement in Canada is a joke IMHO. Not sending money and not following the effort.
Quick poll:
Who was the better hockey player?
– Hayley Wickenheiser
– Doug Wickenheiser
I wouldn’t be surprised if the number exceeds 200 billion. The reason no PM is willing to talk about it is equalization payments are the very essence of the confederation. There is no other reason for the country to exist.
Quebek thinks they are getting ripped off and over contribute to the federation. A political party that proposed a cage to equalization wouldn’t stand a snowballs chance in hell of ever forming government.
Doug played over 500 games in the NHL,although he never lived up to his #1 overall potential.
Hayley played in leagues that are comparable to our Junior B leagues, except for her brief season in Finland where she scored 3 goals in a couple of dozen games, and you can be sure the players in the league were told to take it easy on her.
Not to denigrate Hayley’s ability as a hockey player, but women’s hockey is a long, long way from men’s hockey. The Canadian women’s national team practised for tournaments by playing a Midget team from Alberta. The last women’s championship I watched last year, Hayley was still on the team but was slow and ineffective, relegated to fourth line roles. It was a bit sad.
Who was a better boxer,Layla or Mohammed Ali?
Who was a better politician,Justin or Margaret Trudeau?
What will always taint Doug Wickenheiser’s selection as #1 draft pick was that the Canadiens could have selected Denis Savard (drafted 3rd) instead. We all know how that worked out.
AGW RIP.

The White House says the Guantanamo Bay detention center will still be open when President Barack Obama leaves office”
“The Obama administration is acknowledging publicly for the first time that Obama will be unable to fulfill a core campaign promise. Although it’s long been clear he wouldn’t be able to shutter the prison, the White House had continued to maintain he was working toward closing it.
White House spokesman Josh Earnest says it became clear Obama couldn’t fulfill the goal after the administration entered its final 30 days. By law the president must give Congress 30 days’ notice of detainee transfers.”

Good summary of “why Trump won,” and its corollary “why the Dems lost:”
“Donald Trump won the 2016 presidential election for many reasons.”
He had a celebrity profile, the ability to self-fund, and a gift for piercing his rivals with a single put-down.”
He held skeptical positions on immigration and trade that millions of Americans also support, but which both parties had previously shut out of the debate. He also worked harder than Hillary Clinton, campaigning in blue states experts said he had no hope of winning.”
But one reason stands above them all: Donald Trump won his party’s nomination and the general election itself because he, alone among Republican candidates, dared to defy the media and to speak directly to the American people.”

Right back at ya dummy.
As a long time Canadiens fan, since 1952, I weep when I think of that draft year, but the Habs were always in love with the idea of a big Western Canadian center man for some reason, and considered Savard (sob) too small!
I guess they were always looking for the next Elmer Lach.
And when they finally traded for Savard,at the end of his career, they gave up one of the best Defencemen in NHL history in Chris Chelios, who played for 19 more seasons and won a couple more Cups with Detroit.
You’ve just driven me to drink remembering that debacle.
To even pose that is idiotic. There is no comparison what-so-ever. My brother reached the juvenile hockey level and is 10 times better than Hayley. My other brother who had a tryout with the Chicago Blackhawks would be insulted by your lame attempt at humour(at least I hope it was).
Try not to embarrass yourself or other Canadian again.
Sorry…you sound like an idiot….not once…but twice. Better to keep quiet so you aren’t regarded as a total moron.
