Here’s what I don’t understand: in October 2014, the Russian government hacked into both the White House’s and the State Department’s computer systems. For an unknown period of time, weeks if not months, the Russians were reading White House and State Department emails-a far more significant security breach than the accounts of Debbie Wasserman Schultz and John Podesta. The Obama administration never did discover that its communications had been compromised, but an ally (I suspect it was Israel) alerted the administration to the Russian intrusion. The White House’s computer system was down for weeks while experts tried to deal with the Russian hack and improve security.
What was President Obama’s reaction to this hack, which could reasonably be seen as an act of war? There was none, apparently. The administration downplayed the significance of the intrusion. The Russian government had been reading White House and State Department emails? No big deal! The liberal press followed suit. The newspapers that are now hysterical about the alleged Russian hacking of Wasserman Schultz’s email account dutifully kept quiet about what happened in the White House and the State Department. It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that Democratic Party newspapers like the Washington Post and the New York Times remained silent because the midterm election was just a few weeks away, and the story reflected badly on the Obama administration.
If you don’t understand, you weren’t paying attention over the past 8 years.

Thank GOD our Liar-in-Chief is going away … and taking the Whole Lying, sad-faced, White House Staff with him. Now, all we need is for Trump to pull the plug on the rest of the SWAMP creatures implanted in our Federal Govt. I say MORE QUESTIONAIRES ! More RotoRootering ! Get the LEFTISTS OUT !@!!
You said it!
The Obama administration was warned – ultimately publicly – about its poor security. They were too stupid and lacking in imagination to understand, even after the publication by the Russians of the hack of Victoria Nuland’s email re Ukraine (what a foul-mouthed creature she was!). Maybe they understand now. Maybe not.
But of course the Russians and Chinese no doubt have been enjoying a field day expanding these security breaches and it is a good question what is left of US security. That will be part of Obama’s legacy.
.
“act of war” for hacking?
What a load of Neo-Con bunk!
Was it an act of war when the US hacked Merkels phone?
Was it an act of war when the US vacuum’s up everyone’s phone calls?
Was it an act of war when the US steals everyone’s personal information?
The blood thirsty Neo-Cons accuse others of “acts of war” for things they themselves do routinely. Screw them and their bunk.
These psychopaths are slowly but surely bringing the death and destruction that they have inflicted on other countries to our shores, people need to both wake up and smarten up in order to stop them.
The DNC media machine is in full implosion. The next 8 years are going to be highly interesting. Trump can tweet from the oval orifice. He doesn’t need these people. What’s even better is people have stopped believing them. This tin foil hat nonsense will convince even more people that the fake news is the stuff put out by the DNC and parroted by the lamestream media scumbags.
While I agree with you on the evils of spying on citizens, the fact is, war is war, and both sides uses the same strategies and tactics. The fact that our side is ours is what makes them the “good” guys, not the strategy and tactics they use.
But in all fairness, Obama did tell Putin to CUT IT OUT.
In the early days of REAL Computer Security, Los Alamos required removable hard drives that where stored in a safe at the end of the working day…The childish idea that hacking does not exist, has not always existed is an example of Hammer Stupid
Like when you enter a Boxing Ring, you must defend yourself at all times.. Eventually ALL security will be defeated and every encoded message will be decoded. If you don’t want your communications to be read & known..don’t use a computer.
The next generation of computing will be able to break codes in real time..
Obama & Hillary are been silly, because if they believes hacking is controllable.. God help us
Obama, Hillary, J.F.Kerry … and all the Idgiots in the White House … none of whom have evolved past their Sophomore year at the Junior College … believe in the “honor system”. They believe that if they just ask Putin, nicely, not to hack into our vital systems … that the Russians will STOP. Because if we are just niiiice to everyone … they will be niiiice to us. And even MORE so … they believe if America bows deeply, or gets on our knees and allows a tilted playing field (favoring all other nations) … then every nation in the world will REALLY like us. You saw this leftist doctrine on full display at Benghazi … where Hillary refused to arm her phasers (Star Trek ref.) as a sign of “peace” to the Muslims. Just like some schmaltzy episode of a tv show … she believed she would defuse a volitile relationship with a gesture of weakness. I am so glad we (barely) survived these Alinskiites.
That’s unusual.
Obama was totes friends 4evur with Putin when Medvedev agreed to “transmit” his wishes and even made Romney an object of sport when the candidate rightly pointed out that Russia was a geopolitical threat.
Kogda lyubov?
Good points. I agree “act of war” is an overstatement. Having said that it is ludicrous for them to now be making such a fuss over the Podesta and Wasserman emails, particularly since the Russians were not involved in those. Several sources (including Assange) have stated that there were a leak and NOT a hack. I think even the CIA backed off of saying there was Russian interference in the election. Anyone who believes this garbage needs to wake up.
Well said.
I think we understand quite clearly why it is an issue now. It is a blatant attempt through a series of different types of attacks to poison the air around the Trump presidency and attach a permanent label of illegitimacy. This so-called Russian hack issue is just the latest attempt.
Blame Crash, if I may add to your list of acts of war. Obama and Hillary interfering in both Russia and Israel’s elections.
Eight years of Obama will take Eighty years to repair…….if ever……
There’s one thing that nobody ever seems to question. Who owns the internet or the WWW?? I don’t have the right to go into a Canada Post outlet, remove the mail from it’s facility, steam the envelopes and read the contents of the letters. Simply because it’s not my facility nor is it my letter.
The world wide web however is a spider web of computers, underground cables, fiber optics, satellite receivers, transmitters etc. Depending on where the hacker is located, I would argue that it would be damned difficult to lay a charge against someone for merely looking at a message, except in cases where currency, intellectual property etc. is involved.

And here in Canada on the same major Canadian networks aghast by all the “fake” news stories run a SNL parody of Donald Trump and Puttin about the alleged Russian hacking three times an hour all day . And this is the real news ?
Was that before or after the reset button was pushed?
