You knew it was coming. Well, the ABNDP’s quarterly report made landfall.
I remember the #LifeWiththeNDP hash tag during the AB election. It was an effort by residents of Saskatchewan, Manitoba, BC and Ontario to try and explain what that really meant. It was about as successful as #BringBackOurGirls.

The only immutable rule of history; no one ever learns from it.
Venezuela North, anyone?
Robert Heilein seems apt here, “Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as “bad luck”.”
Not being able to read socialist writings, can’t read the column.
None the less, was listening to the extremist social worker that dabbles in finance that he knows nothing about.
The social worker tells the people of Alberta that they will have to blow more billions on their extremist government programs that consist of spreading the working peoples money on socialist unions and assorted socialist imports from other parts of Canada.
When you talk with people here, nobody will let it be known that they voted for the extremists, though you can sense by their avoidance of answer.
Nobody wants to take the credit for voting in the extremists.
One wonders why?
It is as though they voted themselves in however impossible that may be.
The social worker is and will be justifying spending billions because of everything that is not socialist. He did blame previous governments as though his spending is their fault.
It has to be said that Prentice was right when talking of all the spending of government, told the Albertans, look in the mirror. Yeah, they wanted free stuff as though it does not cost anything and the government obliged.
“Consumer spending is forecast to drop a surprisingly modest 0.8 per cent, but that’s only because Alberta’s population, in its wacky way, keeps growing slightly despite all the signs that this may not be the best move.”
The recession is still not deep enough to keep them away. Unfortunately for Alberta we will need to endure much deeper pain for much longer to cut out the malignancy.
3 more years should hopefully be enough.
‘3 more years should hopefully be enough’
I hope you’re right. Ontario has never been the same since Bob Rae. Will Alberta’s fate be the same. Prior to the NDP, Alberta could always be counted on to make the proper adjustments like Ralph Kline did but will Alberta be able to come back after 3 more years of this.
Whatever happened to Jim Prentice? Where is he now? I think he was a decent sort, but his timing was terrible.
Prentice is done.
Perhaps it was a mistake on his part when he decided to run.
He did not have to do it. Had enough pensión from the government an Bank full of money from working for the Bank of Commerce at published account of $400K.
Maybe he just wanted to improve things after the demolition of Redford.
Strange how we were reasonably well off with $10 oil and a Conservative government but we are on the verge of bankruptcy with $50 oil and an NDP government. Edmonton voters still like the commie pigs but no-one else does. We should look into Edmonton’s water supply.
Alberta needs more fires.
That way it can turn itself into an economic firestorm.
I live in Red Rachel’s riding in Edmonton and I did NOT vote for her. I have far too much sense to do that. (I lived through the early day of Dave Barrett’s NDP in B. C. and the final months of Al Blakeney’s Dippers in Saskatchewan. NDP? No, thanks.) In fact, I have yet to meet anyone here in the city who voted for the NDP.
I can say with a,straight face, that I Voted WR…as I have for 2 elections….and will likely do so again.
As for the Climate Marxists in power…they could give a $hit about anyone NOT in the public service who btw sucks at least 80% of Govt revenue….yet they never seem to suffer…sorta like the banks..no?
That arrogant twit (shoulda used an “a”), could care less…its,Ideology 100% – ALL the time…and once you see bird choppers going up, that will signal the end of this once prosperous Province….a cursory look east to Wynndom…is perfect testimony..
Treasonous Bastards…ALL.
I don’t think anything could have kept the Prentice PCs in office. Having Queen Alison as premier was bad enough, but the investigation into her conduct let her off the hook. People wanted to see her tarred and feathered and her walking away unscathed was enough for voters to want to toss out the rascals.
Yeah, when they were, what can be described with some relativity as conservative.
Under the idiot steady Eddy, they began their metamorphosis into Progressives.
That under the Redford was complete and the disaster started.
Both of those sucked up to the teachers and nurses union and screwed things up something fierce.
THIS JUST IN …..I TALKED WITH ANGELA PITT WILD ROSE MLA….
The whole breaking of contracts with the power companies was orchestrated it was planned what I mean is the ndp knew before hand that this tax would in fact give the power companies the ability to break the contracts but regardless the ndp will WILL make the power companies unprofitable it is their goal so they can turn them into crown corporations ….and AND the liquor stores are next this is from a sitting MLA her mouth my ears …the ndp know this they understand it . It’s the end goal she said if they win again (I believe they will) you can bet on liquor stores being crown corporations run by the province many stores will close and selection will be limited.
B….I’m also in her riding, but sure as he!! didn’t vote for the commie beyatch. As you noted, nobody voted for her! Wonder how she managed to get in. I’ve called the elections office, however they are adamant there will be no investigation. What ever happened to that petition to have her booted?
A friend of mine is in the warehousing industry. He was telling me that he knows of 5 major steel warehouses that are taking down their storage racking and either trying to sell it or move it back to the US. Most likely move it back to the US since nobody wants to buy it. He was also telling me about several other major warehouses leaving both Edmonton and Calgary. He is not making much money trying to sell storage products at the moment and is likely to be downsized himself soon.
Do they want to turn them into crown corporations or cheap assets for their puppet master Soros can buy for next to nothing?
Keep in mind that our riding’s right next to the U of A. I suspect Red Rachel got her support from all the leftists associated with that place.
Joe Ceci’s “proud” of what the Dippers are doing to Alberta:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ezw6PKhqQoM
Barf!
All Danielle Smith had to do was her damn job for six more months. That’s all. If she had done that, she’d be premier today. Instead, her greed for an early cabinet post cost Smith her political career, and cost the rest of us an NDP government.
Thanks, Dani.
Brian Jean should tell Jason Kenney to go pound sand. This is Alberta. Once we toss a government out, we NEVER vote them back into power. Liberals have been a fringe party since we tossed them out, as are SoCreds and the PCs. UFA stopped being a political party altogether.
not sure but they are going to doeverything in their power to make em both crown corporations.i dont think you are off on your assesmesnt of soros being involved .
All of this is the fault of Prentice.
He inherited the mess but the electorate was on board. He won his own seat in a by election along with 3 other by election seats at the same time.
He set about to ‘unite the right’ by offering WR floor crossers safe passage. Danielle Smith took the bait (an egregious error). The electorate rebelled. There was no reason to wipe out the opposition. He should have just road it out. They we largely disaffected conservatives. Then the fool called an early election.
Guess what happened.
“UFA stopped being a political party altogether.”
But they do sell gas and farm supplies.
If you think it’s bad now wait until the ndp start negotiating with the public service unions. The teachers insisted that they be awarded 5 years of increases consistent with the wages that the oil patch were experiencing. They got it.
Fast forward to today. Think this round of negotiations will include such a demand? How about a roll back consistent with the patch? Alberta’s teachers are the highest paid in the country. So are the nurses.
The point of all this is: the private sector here has taken roll back after roll back. Jobs have been lost in every sector/industry except one. The public sector. This cannot continue. The civil service has to share the suffering.
Prentice was not chosen to be premier by the voters. He was simply following political tradition by calling an early election to have the electorate confirm him in his new position.
Have also heard that some nurses have a real sweetheart deal. If my information is correct, then a nurse who is contracted to work part time only gets paid overtime for any hours above the contracted hours. So a lot of nurses have gone that route – have an “official” short work week at regular wages and then get “called in” for overtime. Could someone please confirm or refute.
Hey, c’mon, Red Rachel hired 47,000 gubmint paper shufflers, it only cost an extra $3 Billion.
What could possibly go wrong??????
Even the Commie BC Dips avoided deficits anywhere near this large in the Reign of Error, of the 90s. I believe their largest deficit was around 3 and a half Billion, which was a travesty at the time.
The Alberta Commies are setting a new record for futility, and don’t seem to shive a git about it.
You guys need some pitchfork parades to give your commie overlords a hint. Sooner or later, with the oil patch down for an extended period, and concurrent $10 Billion+ deficits, the financiers will very publicly rebuke the Commie government, then the fur will fly.
That’s if there are any productive people left in Alberia. Half your population is in BC right now, getting in the way on our roads and highways!
The Dippers have been rebuked by the financiers. Alberta’s credit rating has been downgraded several times, sometimes with clear hints about cutting government spending.
However, that financial genius Joe Ceci brushed it all aside each time, blaming it on anything and everything but the provincial government’s idiotic habits.
You can always tell a communist, but you can’t tell him much.
I guess I better get used to the idea that I’ll spend my old age hauling buckets of manure on some collectivized farm, helping build the New Society while lustily singing “The Internationale”.
Oh, I forgot. I also have to help build feminism in Alberta. One of Red Rachel’s politburo said so.
I realize that rehashing this stuff will get us know where but Prentice didn’t have to call an early election. I know he wasn’t elected Premier by Albertans but he didn’t receive tacit approval by winning 4 by elections, 2 with hand picked candidates.
Just below the surface Albertans were pissed with the PC’c but not enough to toss them out. The moves by Prentice (and his advisors) brought that resentment to surface.
The bigger question now is how to prevent re-election of the dippers. It will happen if the WR and PC’s can resolve their differences. Neither of them can win as long as the other remains.
Lemme fix that.
I realize that rehashing this stuff will get us nowhere but Prentice didn’t have to call an early election. I know he wasn’t elected Premier by Albertans but he did receive tacit approval by winning 4 by elections, 2 with hand picked candidates.
You’re more than welcome to move to BC, where, your taxes will be lower, the weather is better, you can help keep out the Horde, here, and, you won’t be paying taxes to keep social workers in way over their heads, or bus drivers, for that matter.
The level of incompetency in the Alberian gubermint rivals that of PM Peter Principle. Both are embarassing groups of incompetent, overrated, ideological dimbulbs
IMO the deal between Smith and Prentice enticing her to join the Conservatives was the ham-handed act that did more to elect the NDP than anything else. Unbelievable lack of judgement.
I grew up in B. C. and survived the early days of Dave Barrett’s socialist paradise. I started grad studies at UBC and left after a year because I hated the university and I hated Vancouver.
No, thanks.
The last competent premier B. C. had was Mini-WAC Bennett.
It was a boneheaded move. By both of them.
It quite probably contributed to what happened in the last election. People who might have considered voting for WR could have felt betrayed and punished them as well as the PCs. Political defectors who change parties aren’t always treated kindly by the voters.
The fact that so many WRs crossed the floor cost them dearly. In fact, here in Red Rachel’s riding, WR didn’t even run a candidate.
“You can always tell a communist, but you can’t tell him much.
I guess I better get used to the idea that I’ll spend my old age hauling buckets of manure on some collectivized farm, helping build the New Society while lustily singing “The Internationale”.”
If George Soros, the NDP, and many of today’s crop of Liberals get their way you will. And, if you are found praying you will go to jail.
Pound it home: “Elections have consequences”
I like Vancouver…………….in my rear view mirror. I feel the same about Whacktoria, but I still have to earn a living for a little while longer.
Lots of great places here my friend, but don’t make the mistake that Vancouver=BC.
The best places are in between the big centers. Okanagan is great, as is the Shuswap and Kootenays, and many areas of the Island, if you can sidestep the greentards and the stoners.
Yes, life will return to a semblancy of normality in your home province, but in the meantime, your commies will do a great deal more damage.
Think 2001, when the NDP here was trounced 77-2. That’s your goal!
Teacher’s union bankrolls NDP campaigns. Teacher’s union votes NDP. Teacher’s union is paid with government dollars. Teacher’s union is rewarded with more government cash by NDP government. Then the quid pro quo starts again; and everyone ignores the glaringly obvious conflict of interest. Teacher’s union gets all money from government. Teacher’s union buys political ads with the government money they have filled their coffers with. We need to simply take away the right to vote. If you are paid with tax dollars, you no longer get to vote on how to allocate tax dollars. This applies to welfare recipients, government employees, anyone and everyone who cashes a government check.
To summarize; NO REPRESENTATION WITHOUT TAXATION. Don’t try to tell me taking 50 cents of every dollar Peter makes, then giving back 5 cents is being taxed either. I do not abide fools.
DanBC >
Heh, great description of BC, mirrors my own in many way. Don’t forget that much the eastern half of BC voted Harper in the last federal election.

FYI – Here’s a sickening story about Redfraud’s whereabouts these days, and it’s not in jail where she belongs:
“..her new role with the Conference Board of Canada’s energy transition panel”
