It has been almost 10 months since the election and the scientists have had the muzzle removed. I have yet to hear of one paper or study that was now disclosed that was previously withheld due to Prime Minister Harper’s government. I was under the impression from the news media for the last ten years that the cure for the common cold, a fix for baldness and a the secret to lift, the universe and everything was at hand, if only we had a Liberal government.
I remember some time ago, someone from EC stated that a lot of the questions re climate change, etc. had not even been settled in the department. I have some concerns about where the particular scientists who are being let go stand on the issue of “climate change.” Regardless, the purpose for anyone studying climate change was never to deal with anything related to climate. Rather it was to reinforce government propaganda so that they could implement a carbon tax. Carbon tax is now here, so what need for the scientific cheerleaders?

Regardless whether or not the gov’t environmental scientists (which ones -not all are climate poseurs) are worth anything, the bigger worry from this is that as far as the Liberals are concerned, the science is settled. They know the trend is away from support for climate change. Can’t have churlish civil servants buggering up your narrative in the midst of full implementation, can we?

To me this is all about recognizing a constituency within Canadian society who have a vested interest in promoting its own employment and influence. It comes down to funding, who gets it and when. That is how Dr. Fruitfly got his start at UBC and how many wannabees see their future. So global warming morphs into climate change which yields carbon taxes. Win win for science prostitutes and progressives who share the loot.

Who needs scientists when governments make up whatever suits their agenda to make big bucks off the stupid twits who elect them? Come to Ontario for the best example of that, Wynne is sitting on the biggest debt in our history and still spending on sky high steel fans to slice and dice birds, produce just enough power to create a surplice to give away free or next to nothing. Meanwhile, residents of her deranged province are charged a premium and taxed into poverty. People are going to lose their homes over this, this winter will be very bad for Ontario residents.

Many Line Ministries (Environment, Fisheries, Forests etc.) in the federal government are replicated at the Provincial level and should therefore be off-loaded. Research functions could be off-loaded to Universities where there are no provincial counterpart.
