In the early ’70s my then young wife and I were doing our first tourist trip to London. We were walking in the West End of an early evening and found ourselves slowly surrounded by a group of mid eastern men who did their utmost to corral my wife. I was impressed by how short in stature and rat-like in appearance they were. I elbowed and pushed a few of them away we and moved rapidly from the area. Probably lucky I wasn’t stabbed.
