We all know CBC moderates comments. Most media outlets will. We do at The Rebel, we may be free speechers but there are people that say things that can get us sued, they spew profanity, they can do all kinds of things. So we moderate, every media outlet does.
So why on earth is CBC doing a story on the Conservative Party moderating comments on their social media feeds, other than the obvious answer – to make the Conservatives look bad.
While the Tories, the NDP and the Liberals all have active Instagram feeds, Meg Sinclair, a spokeswoman for Facebook Canada, said Harper’s account is the only one that has launched ads to date.
–snip–
Many of the early comments on the sponsored posts were critical of Harper and his government’s policies. Those comments have since disappeared.
Who the hell cares on than CBC? This is only about showing the Conservatives in a bad light.
Try this out, go to CBC’s site and leave rude and profane comments and see if they stay up or are deleted. Then drop me a line in the comments to let me know what happens.

Brian, one doesn’t have to leave rude or profane comments at the CBC site to have it scrubbed/removed or just never appear in the first place.
One only has to leave a very pro-conservative comment or cite logical reasons to reject the shibboleth/sacred ox that they currently proffer.
Yes,as “Oz” says.I leave dozens of comments at CBC which are never rude or profane, but are factually critical of Trudeau or Mulcair. They are almost never published.
CBC…what’s that?
And Liberal and NDP websites wouldn’t remove a post attacking them like CBC itself does? My biggest criticism of Harper was his lack of will to completely kill the CBC in the first months of his majority. The next criticism was he allowed the CRTC to effectively kill Sun News by applying different rules to them.
The next pro-Conservative comment I get posted on either CBC or CTV will be the first.
Warning to the uninitiated: If you’re going to visit a comment section on CBC’s site, be sure to double dose some Gravol first, or whatever it takes to keep gag reflexes in check! And definitely don’t attempt it following a meal of any kind!!!
Only rude profane anti-Harper comments are considered “appropriate” by the mediocracy, who think free speech means giving the election to Mulcair seven weeks before the vote.
Agreed. I have had many comments not make the cut that can only be deemed innocent in nature. What is deemed inappropriate is subjective to whomever is moderating, and/or not proliferate the narrative.
In the past I’ve had about 3 comments of mine moderated by the CBC, and they had no profanity. Next time they will.
The CBC’s hypocrisy knows no end. Just take a look at the comments now on the link. It’s all anti Harper rhetoric.
Ha! I just wrote “What I hate about Harper the most is his complete failure to privatize the CBC” and it was removed in seconds.
Should I have expected anything else?
Defund the cbc now.
I tried to post ths article twice. Gone in seconds both times ..This is cool”Comments on this story are moderated according to our Submission Guidelines. Comments are welcome while open. We reserve the right to close comments at any time.”
The CBC is not media, it is a sophomoric pseudo-intellectual media-club acting as a progressive filter designed to anesthetize non-socialist, non pseudo-environmental, non multi-cultural, and critical thinking. It is also a de-facto appendage of the NDP with residual umbilical connections to the LPC. Along with its private sector clones they have been very effective in shrinking the intelligence of the electorate.
I posted this at 09 02 2015 2111 hrs. Let’s see how it does:
Brian Lemon
If Harper does no more than eliminate funding for the CBC he will be the greatest PM in modern times.
I can’t find it.
Here’s mine as of one minute ago…
“It would seem that the CBC also censors comments and should have no partisan reason to do so.”
whoooosh. Gone in 60 Seconds.
Unless of course they are awaiting moderation. We’ll see.
The CBC is a huge joke and even going onto their site causes the gag reflex to kick in. It provides all the free advertising that the NDP and Liberals need. It’s partisanship is glaringly obvious to everyone except the spectacularly obtuse. In fact it’s so obvious that even the most rabid lefties couldn’t help but notice, although they wouldn’t admit to it.
Mr. Harper made a serious error in judgement by not defunding this mass of fecal matter early in his term. By now, everyone would have forgotten that it happened except for the small percentage of Canadians who even tuned in to it.
And the best part folks …. we’re all paying for it.
@haydnwatters
let him know on his twitter account what you really think.
He’s a barely post adolescent bolshie who needs to be properly appreciated.
Mine lasted seconds longer. But I used big words. Hard for them to understand.
Disagreeing with the CBC’s official line regarding conservatism or whatever else may be the topic for unhingement is all that is necessary in order to have your comment deleted at their site.
It is rare for a week to pass without a commenter here at SDA mentioning they’ve had a comment deleted at the CBC.
Here’s a question. If Mr. Harper attains another majority, God willing, will he take immediate steps to privatize the CBC or will he allow it to continue to carry on as NDP cheerleader and devourer of billions of tax dollars? Opinions please.
Why the f*ck would I waste a countable hit on cbc.ca? Don’t give them ANY traffic at all.
There was a story about the right of Public Servants to criticize Government on YouTube a few days ago on CBC (in the context of the upcoming elections).
The comments were open for a long time and people left more than 3000 entries, most of them clearly hateful (and rude), yet no visible intervention from “da Masters”.
I think most of the commenters were made by bored Public Servants waiting for an end to their tour of torture (i.e. workday).
Good comment by ghuttsbrain….but it’s very sarcastic with innuendo…probably has the CBC comment-nazi scratching it’s head.
Ha!! It’s gone!!
I posted the following:
Censoring comments on the internet is normal. Why is this news?
If I was to write that the CBC was a reeking pile of sh*t and should be totally defunded, that comment would probably also be deleted.
Maybe the Conservatives should keep track of comments that the CBC deleted. Now _that_ would be news…
As witnessed by the comments above one can surmise that the CBC sees this election as an existential threat…as well they should.
As the official organ of the Lipstick Left they intimately understand that if PMSH wins a fourth mandate they will be diminished…to the point of extinction.
The loss of HNC, their only real money source outside if the $1.2B they suck off the taxpayer teat every year was like the horn going off to end the tie in the third. We’re into overtime now.
I expect the frenzied defense to continue and understand that overtime is where the happy warriors shine.
I concur with Oz, signed up a few years ago and had any “well written” pro-conservative points disregarded for publication, no profanity or derogatory comments whatsoever. They do seem to allow easily picked on hack comments for bat meat, providing they don’t carry any weight to influence the flock.
I’ve never been back.
I think it would have been difficult to move against the CBC up until now, but if he gets another mandate I hope he moves in the direction of privatizing. At this point, there is no reason not to. The leftists will rail against him anyway. Why give them an additional platform?
Are there any public servants here? Maybe try something different than this: write the nastiest song you can that attacks Mulcair or Trudeau. See how fast your union moves to defend you.
C B C = Constantly Bashing Conservatives/Christians
It is so blatant that even I noticed. I am glad that at least at this level it is being commented on. The reality of this censorship will impact voters and rational thinkers will take note of the obscene behaviour.
SDA gets results.
At the onset of the Cdn election 2015, I went on Cbc.ca with a Liberal sounding user name and a Liberal logo. Not once were my pro Liberal comments deleted. I did the same with an NDP logo, no deletions. Then I used a Conservative party of Canada logo and went on with pro-Conservative comments. It was almost a farce. At least one out of five of my comments were deleted.
Today, I rely on the National Post and Ezra Levant at Rebel mMdia..
Privatize the left-wing CBC. Buy a bumper sticker, show your support.

Got this on the Star Phoenix. Was quite surprised that the CBC.Ca didn’t mention a word of what is a six million $$ First Nations fraud case!! Afraid of hurting our leftist friends are we. Radio-Canada’s Telejournal (Regina) did run a pretty good report on the story.

In my experience with CBC they regularly just don’t publish pro-conservative or comments unflattering to their love child, JT, whether they are rude or not. Conversely, rabid, vile explicite hate speech, death threats and the like are posted towards PM Harper and his family etc and go unnoticed by the so-called moderator. CBC stories that are construed to put Harper or the Conservatives in a bad light are open for thousands and thousands of comments, whereas if the comments in a story about Trudeau or the Liberals appears to be trending negatively for their “Boy” then you will quickly see the banner, “closed for comments”.
I too have had polite but opposing posts removed immediately.
Brian we applaud you for doing a great job of bringing to light issues that are real! Thank you!
The CBC comments aren’t any better than Rabble.
Even if you happen to get a pro-Conservative comment through their moderation, it gets drowned out in the “like” system by all the rabid Harper haters who have their comments “liked” up to the top of the comment page each & every time. It’s a complete waste of time & effort to try discussing anything over there.
Biggest mistake Harper ever made was not defunding the CBC when he had a chance.
The CBC should not be privatized but instead sold off as real estate and equipment, otherwise the toxic attitude and culture might continue to contaminate the airways.

“they stab it with their steely knives… but they just can’t kill the beast”
when will the mother corps just up and officially change their name to “the justin network?”
it’s not like they’re fooling anybody but themselves.

I honestly don’t think that it can be privatized. What corporation with a responsible board of directors would want to get involved with this perennial loser? A buyer would be saddled with overpaid executives, news readers and journalists, ludicrous union contracts and an abysmally small viewership. Any organization that cannot survive without annual subsidies in excess of $1 billion is certainly not worth acquiring.
Personally I would be quite happy if the government simply gave away the real estate and equipment. Just get rid of the damned thing.
Canukistan Broadcasting Cabal…
I left a comment once, it disappeared right after I refreshed…will never comment there again….Even the Star will keep comments up as long as they are not profane…amazing eh.??
Desperados….I would absolutely scream with ABJECT JOY should they ever be privatized…I long for it…DEEPLY.
The CBC needs a valid license to Broadcast.. The CRTC has a formal process available to those that oppose continuing to authorize the CBC operation. A 200K petition to the CRTC would have to be addressed/litigated. Fill the in-boxes @ CRTC
I’ve tried to join conversations and comments at the CBC many times. One cannot even say, a single criticism of Trudeau or Mulcair without getting deleted. Forget pro-Harper, mentioning that voters should look at all parties and assess them on their policies gets you deleted. I’ve had comments deleted on every subject and every single one of them were rated G for general viewing.
Examples
I think Harper is not as bad as some would make him out to be. Deleted
I think the amount of promises being made is going to blow any budget. Deleted
We have to fight ISIS and support stability in the middle east. Deleted
Harper has got to go. accepted.
It’s not funny. Our nationally funded media outlet is so biased, they make Al Jazeera seem Christian.
Your comment:Censoring comments on the internet is quite normal. Why is this news?
Yup!
Was replying to EarlW
Even polite comments posted on the CBC get deleted/suspended if they don’t fit with what the CBC LibDem Thought Control police choose as the diet for the day.
It’s fun to check. Come up with a pro and anti Harper poster and a pro and anti Mulcair one. Use the same level of rudeness or politeness so that a true social science based “control” is in place. Post. Then watch the CBC “moderator” allow in the pro Mulcair, anti Harper one and suspend the others.
I’ve given up on the CBC long ago and only wonder why a majority government couldn’t have privatized it. Selling it to Quebecor would have been delightful irony — instead of letting Sun TV die on the vine for not being given the same cable carrying access required for CBC and CTV.
You nailed it John.
My favorite example of CBC censorship of comments came a few days ago when, in answer to the vitriol and venom from some LibDem hack, I posted this — which the CBC censor thought too offensive for public consumption:
“Moral Statute Machine: John Spartan, you are fined one credit for a violation of the Verbal Morality Statute.
John Spartan: What the hell is that?
Moral Statute Machine: John Spartan, you are fined one credit for a violation of the Verbal Morality Statute.”
Having the CBC censor a quote from Demolition Man, from a scene where policing in the future regulated whether people spoke in “Joy-Joy” feeling terms or lapsed in breaches of the “verbal morality” laws, went beyond irony.
