The progressive hipsters who attended the recent music festival in Pemberton, BC left the place in quite a state of mess. It would be fascinating to do a scientific study of the correlation of those who leave garbage at such large event vs. their voting patterns. Any theories what such numbers might show?
The hypocrisy of those who claim to be environmentally responsible but actually aren’t in their own lives is reminiscent of the Toronto Star’s Catherine Porter.

  5. In Washington DC protests it is no contest:
    Park police report virtually zero litter when the protestors are right wing or Libertarian/Conservative It is always a virtual pigsty when the Marxists/Left/Democrats show up.
    No mystery here. People on the right are self reliant and look after themselves. The left’s answer is that the government (someone else)) will pick up after them.
    I went to the ‘artist’ community of Taos, NM a few years ago and it looks like Browning on the Blackfeet Indian Reservation here in Montana where there is 70% unemployment the attitude is the government pays for everything and there is garbage everywhere all year long. It is disgusting.
    Haven’t gone in their homes to look for Kate’s big TV’s as I am sure the insides of the homes are even filthier.

  9. Not just DC…but also Ottawa, and Queens Park , Toronto…..
    The word is DC Park Police and staff get time off for TEA Party rallies but extra shifts for the lefty assemblies.
    Probably Ottawa and Toronto put on extra cops to harass conservatives but haul out their riot gear for lefties.
    It has became a tradition for TEA party types to have garbage bags as part of their kit…..clever….despite this the lefties refuse to clean up the act and their crap.
    As far as that ‘music festival in Pemberton, BC’….WOW JUST WOW…..

    I was taught early on that when you go into the bush, you bring everything back out that can’t be burnt. This was way before the environmental movement started revering the planet.

  26. Just like people moan that oil and mining companies should be fully taxed for environmental consequences, ticket prices for outdoor concerts should be raised to include the anticipated price of cleanup

  27. Great example for our kids. Robert. Don’t they have any laws out there against that kind of trash. Who was the organizer? They had no responsibility? IE, nobody leaves until you carry your crap with you? Cripes. I’ve seen kids parties with less then that. And who would stay in that filth to start with?

  33. I’ve attended a few Tea Party rallies and brought garbage bags along, as did others. Our aim was to leave the place cleaner than we found it, and we always did. That was partially from a sense of responsibility and partially from a desire to visibly stand in contrast to progressive behavior.

    My son was at this thing and he tells me that they charged nearly $100 of extra fees on top of the face value of the tickets, including a $30 environmental impact fee.
