Should it be such a surprise if ISIS has the same strategy as Al Qaeda and that westerners happen to be oil field technicians/operators who coincidentally happen to be in the vicinity of the oilfields?

Instead, let us ask what strategy western governments have regarding their own nationals and their need to harvest these same oil fields in terms of their own strategic national interests and the protection these governments owe as a duty to these people/interests thereof.

A “State” has the resource to be a far greater threat than are a bunch of hard scrabble terrorists.
With the Islamic Republic of Iran armed with nuclear ICBMs in easy reach of Europe. The Islamic State funding and “inspiring/directing potential stealth jihadi cells in the millions throughout Western and Eastern countries.
They can set the entire Middle-East alight and spark a fuse leading straight into
Europe distracting and weakening it.
This would allow them multiple entries into Africa, to solidify the current Islamist uprisings.
From that they truly would have an Empire larger than the old Caliphates achieved.
Putting that down once underway would not be easy, nor cheap.
Underestimating the rise of Hitler and the 3rd Reich cost tens of millions of lives devastated Europe and what was left of the British Empire, and set the stage for Soviet expansion into Western Europe.
An American President would not be so irresponsible as to allow an Islamic version of those to develop.
Hopefully, America will have one of those soon.

Germany was the pre-eminent most scientifically advanced state in the world at the time. Germany flew the first jet plane in 1932. They led the world in nuclear technology and had the most televisions. They were fielding Panzer V ‘Pather’ tanks with infrared night sights, and advanced shock troops with the world’s first assault rifles plus had extraorbital ballistic V1 missiles. They invented all-terrain vehicles which were amphibious, and they also invented man portable anti-tank weapons.
Germany was on the cutting edge of science.
If the western world equipped 1 whole Army with the best armored vehicles we had in WWII and an Air Force equipped with Lancaster bombers and Mosquito ground attack aircraft, we could crush ISIS in 2 months if only our Politicians had the will to use them to wage Total War against these animals.

It’s as if the hundreds of thousands of new “Radicals” aka “youth” somehow developed in laboratory test tubes overnight.
As I noted before Tom Holland’s book, In the Shadow of the Sword showed how quickly islam conquered both the Eastern Roman empire and the Persian empire and were into Spain in shortly over 20 years. We live in a similar weak world today as islam rises again. The big difference, IMHO, is that today our parts of the world are allowing muslims by the millions to live there. In earlier times Europe was able to stem the muslim tide and then drive it out. Today we have no front line and the enemy is among us and will support their fellow muslims. Every muslim woman you see wearing a hijab or other covering is a full supporter of this jihad.
When I was canvassing a couple of weeks ago for the CPC in Thorncliffe, which is a muslim dominated area in Toronto, the apartment building we canvassed was filled with muslims and the vast majority were not Canadian citizens but surely would be on welfare.
The West is an incredibly target rich area for jihadists and we all know how quickly we would be paralyzed by just a few bombs. Imagine a gas truck exploding on the Gardiner or in the financial district.

Guided under power during the ascent stage, and coasting unguided during the descent.

While Germany broke ground with their MP43/STG43/STG44, their “storm trooper” tactics were left over from WW1…when they applied the Canadian Vimy Ridge methods….and the Allied Battle of Amiens combined ops.
Their Pzkw V was so poorly engineered, final drives often failed advancing to the battlefield unless delivered by rail. Difficult to repair in the field, factory refits were standard….so much so that in the East…Panzer divisions usually had more captured operational T34’s than PZKW V’s.
The German Panzerfaust was more or less a direct copy of the US bazooka.
edit the Panzerfaust was the extremely short ranged device inspired by the piat/bazooka warhead while the Paanzershrek was a copy of a US bazooka captured from the REds.
I fear very much an assassination or a major bombing during the federal election. Have attended a number of conservative election events and have never been impressed by the level of security. Too easy to pretend to be a conservative supporter and get up close. We are too naive here.
