  1. But…I thought the ‘greenies’ were tree lovers. This must be very confusing for them.

  2. “the impact on domestic woodlands of the vogue for burning wood. Under EU rules, wood fuel qualifies as ‘zero carbon’, because felled trees will supposedly grow back and re-absorb the CO2 emitted by burning them. Burning wood to generate electricity or heat counts towards emissions targets, so that chips, pellets and sometimes logs qualify for a ‘green’ subsidy.”
So then what they are saying is that even though Canada emits about 2% of the CO2 measured in the world, we should have credit back for the vast forests across 2/3 of the land base which takes all that out of the air. Net result, the world should be paying us a premium to extract the oilsands.

  3. bluetech, no they’re not. Otherwise they wouldn’t be deforesting Indonesia for palm oil for biodiesel.
Oxygentax, we tried that during the Kyoto mechanisms negotiations at COP in 2001. The Euros rejected that explicitly and unanimously.

  4. And this comes as a surprise! The next thing these brainiacs are going to find out is that the wood/pellet stoves that are being used to heat British homes are also burning garbage and the result will be a decline in air quality that will lead to more health problems. Garbage burned in low temperature fires increase the amount of toxins into the air, which in turn will cause more pulmonary problems among the general population. As the cost of firewood increases due to a rise in demand and a decreasing supply people who have installed these heating systems will burn scrap ‘re-cycled’ wood. The air quality will decline past the point of what it was in the late Forties and early Fifties.

  5. “..more wood is now being burnt from British woods…”
What about all that wood being burnt in the British Columbia forests these days? One could say it is due to ‘climate change’. HAH!! Got ya!!

  6. These a**holes are going backwards.
When I was young, we cooked and heated with wood, and used coal oil lanterns for light. Our nearest neighbour was eight miles away, we had no phones, no two-way radio, no indoor plumbing, no electricity, and clothes had to be washed by hand. Our only contact with the outside world every Winter was via battery powered AM radio, batteries were charged by a generator hooked up to a windmill.
And these stupid F***s want to go back to that?!
Allah save us from the lunatics.

  7. And no one in the grand green cavalcade managed to plant a few new saplings?
    Oh for shame…

  9. Oi, they left their denuded forest ohm and flew straight into a wind turbine iden it?

  10. “Oxygentax, we tried that during the Kyoto mechanisms negotiations at COP in 2001. The Euros rejected that explicitly and unanimously.”
Sooooo? What says we can’t ask again, and if they reject it, refuse to sign any BS paper out of the new USSR.

  11. No, just from Northern Manitoba in the 1950’s where we spent the Winter Sept- April,in a fishing camp where my Dad and Uncle fished and trapped for a living.

  12. “Overall, more wood is now being burnt from British woods than at any time since the industrial revolution”
And thus will we all be ROONT.
Split wood, not atoms, they said …and so they did.
