When Paul VI wrote Populorum Progressio, which also called for global control of the economy, Ayn Rand annihilated it point-for-point in her essay Requiem for Man, which was reprinted in her book Capitalism: The Unknown Ideal. Maybe the new encyclical is a rehash of some of the points of 50 years ago. I don’t doubt it will be highly vulnerable to a good trashing too.
My wife is Catholic and God is watching, so I won’t express my complete opinion of the Pope (this one or any other). I will just say he needs to tend to the business he is trained in – promoting a dogma that is out of touch with it’s supposed basis; true Christianity.

As you said god is in control, the catholic church was the first church, not necessarily the correct church when it went sideways by killing those who dissented, and started lying to people by telling them they would burn in hell if they did not pay their indulgences. He used others to get the truth out.
The catholic church is important to Christianity but it is no longer an authority or a spokes person for God it has done more to defame and turn people away from christ than dawkins or hitchens or stalin ever could. They molest children and HIDE it that is the problem. its not that their are perverts in the catholic church its that they hide it. while these children grow up so hurt and confused. As well how is the catholic church and its parishioners able to sleep at night when they vote for abortions,and support homosexuals living in sin? They hunted and killed many former catholics who read the bible and started to question the motives of the church. NOWHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT SAY YOU MUST PAY MONEY TO GET INTO HEAVEN. Yet the catholic church still thinks it can cash in on a sinners conscience evenafter jesus declared i am the way the truth and the life the ONLY way to the father is through me. Jesus paid for our sins it is a free gift to all who believe in him.
Many christians sadly will burn in hell as they are being misled witch is worse than anything and is the reason the evangelical church is growing and the catholic and united and other false churches are failing.
These churches make god more pleasing to man rather than making man more pleasing to god. And they will all be judged. just like you and I. Are you saved?

Read it all. No copy and paste. rather than get mad at me for the catholic church hiding its perverts and protecting them why do you start doing something about it. This is not an attack for the church hiding and protecting perverts.
I am calling into question the motives of a church when it tries to tell people that they must pay money to get into heaven. I think its ridiculous. As a former catholic i disagree with catholic teachings. No where does it say in scripture that you need to pay indulgences for your entrance into haven. If thats the case then why did christ die on the cross what was that for?
