  1. “The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people’s money.” – Margaret Thatcher

  2. The problem with socialism is what happens when you run out of other people’s money.
    It’s not very pretty.

  3. Greece should pursue the Icelandic solution. Give the middle finger to the IMF economic terrorism. A small country can do it – break free of the international banking syndicate based in Brussels, if it has wise/ethicl leadership.

  4. the lazy of the world have been embracing socialism for a long time now. when people get something from someone else they invariably want to continue getting it. world wide the parasites will soon kill the host. I hope I have passed on before things get as bad as I think they will. there is nothing I can do to insulate my kids and grandkids from the disaster that socialism will eventually create for the entire planet.

  5. In the eyes of the Greek Finance Minister it looks like Germany has run out of Greece’s money.

  6. Greeks take personal pride and satisfaction in avoiding paying their taxes. They can live on that pride and satisfaction during the hard times ahead.

  7. Occam – you make it sound like its the IMF that put Greece in the position it finds itself. Its like a bank cutting off my credit when I get to the point where I want to quit my job and retire on the bank’s borrowed money and never have to pay it back.

  8. Technically, this statement puts Greece in default. It’s probably nothing, though.

  9. You have to admire their nerve, saying that they borrowed the money and the banks are to blame for wanting them to pay it back.

  10. But it wasn’t runaway government spending and huge social programs that’s the problem, not at all.

  11. All is not lost!
Have they tried knocking on Obammy’s door? Or Wynnebag’s? Notley’s?

  12. Take note Ontario, Alberta and Canada (this fall) this is what can happen when you elect a left wing government figuring they can solve all the problems.

  13. Not very long ago, Greece was a really objectionable totalitarian state. Like in the 1970’s.
This time next year we could be looking at a wave of Greek asylum seekers trying to get away from a brand spanking new Greek totalitarian state.
    Won’t that be fun?

  14. Seems to me Greece had this problem before they elected the current government.
Electors figured they’d hand the anchor to the far leftists.

  15. How long before the residents of Alberta experience some of those “great moments in socialism’?

  16. Liz J,
Any day now. Sainte Rachel has announced her cabinet of social workers, teachers and union thugs. Not a business person in the bunch.
Eight of the twelve have no MLA experience let alone cabinet experience.
At least she didn’t appoint a student as Minister of Education.
    Hold onto your wallets folks.

  17. Wynne and McGuinty have turned the economic engine of Canada into a broken down e-bike discarded at the side of the road. Jobs? Prosperity? Who needs that as long as the LGBT flag is flying at Queens Park and grade ones are receiving sex education before they learn how to spell. If you don’t have a job there’s lots of time for sex! Ontari-owe Liberal style.

  18. Scar, this isn’t even the Greece of Taki! Perhaps Eengland could give back the Elgin Marbles. That ought to pay for the next 5 minutes.

  19. “This time next year we could be looking at a wave of Greek asylum seekers trying to get away from a brand spanking new Greek totalitarian state.”
I’ve been to too many restaurants in Ontario where the food is bad…A few thousand new cooks wouldn’t hurt at all.
