Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Japan is a small country with a big population. A little more room to breathe might be refreshing. Of course they could bring in Somalis and Syrians by the boat load but they are too clever to think of self induced societal cancer as being the cure.
So the demographics are saying the Japanese are too lazy to get preggers…? Well then they need to ramp up production!
What a boon to capitalism, North America can trade viagra and coal for Honda vehicles and Sony electronics…! The back seat and romantic music, what could possibly go wrong?
In every demographic cataclysm a new emphasis on ‘family life’ will take hold.
Perhaps they should hand out ‘patriotic rabbit awards’…for the best number of well adjusted children ‘produced’.

Time for a trip to Japan!!
They should fly/ boat in millions of Mexicans and Guatemalans like we do to sell drugs, work for minimum wage, and make babies at exponential rates.
That will fix em up good.
japan needs more young people. the old farts are not producing any new ones to become old ones. I know how that works.
Apparently the young males addicted to video games and don’t even leave the house to pursue the idea of breeding. By about 2050 if you let the gif run. You get to 98 % dependancy , like a reserve.
We here in New Brunswick are facing the same problem. Also, we reached a milestone, the year saw more deaths than births. I am part of the problem being an old retired geezer.
Socialism can be blamed for a lot but I don’t see how it can be blamed for the Japanese deciding to not show up for the future.
Yeah well they are doing their best.
On the net I have seen some Japanese TV shows that would make the Netherlands blush.
A hundred years from now Japan will still be Japan, while the US will be Mexico and western Europe will be an extension of the middle east and north Africa. Canada will have wars between the Chinese and Arabs. Replacing yourself with strangers is not a solution to a demographic problem
@Cal
Perhaps not socialist economics directly, in their traditional form, but the fingerprints are there. Unfunded benefits bleed the public purse, feminism poisoning gender relations so that neither side wants to anything to do with the opposite sex. The general social engineering by political hacks.
The ‘capitalist’ side is not blameless, mind you. Take the oppressive corporatist culture, where you’re expected to work 60+ hours a week, often without full compensation because that’s what’s expected of loyal wage slaves. And if the corporations are calling the shots, they’re going to want society at large (and its economy) controlled and directed in a way that is conducive to THEIR interests. SJW or plutocrat, either way you’ve got someone forcing the masses to conform to their expectations.
It’s a conflux of economic and cultural factors. We can speculate and infer, but not having lived in that environment, in that cultural pressure, we can easily misjudge what makes them tick, what stresses they are reacting to. For instance, many of us opine that young Japanese are going Galt (I know I would want to check out of that oppressive bullshit), but we run the risk of projecting our biases onto the situation.
Remind the Japanese that the Chinese and the North Koreans will swoop in like vultures.
That might get the baby shinkansen going.
Excellent point. I’d like to add that Canada was a better country when the population was 20 million loyal quality Canadians.
Why is the government bringing the drek of the world here as fast as they can?
Because they can’t admit that the Canada Pension Plan was a huge mistake.
Those on this thread that say socialism isn’t to blame for lower birth rates don’t know that birth rates drop because would-be Daddies and Mommies don’t want to bring new babies into the world if they think the kids will have a poorer life(ethically economically etc.) than they did.
minuteman is right when he says there will still be Japanese, but the loss of the meaning of what it is to be Japanese by that time is the reason that young Nips aren’t having babies today.

I agree with Osumashi Kinyobe, Japan will be a provence of China in 100 years if they don’t rebuild they’re national strenght.
Otherwise I agree with you, if they aren’t replacing nationals what difference does it make. An extension of Mexico or the Islamic State by invasive immgration is no different ultimatly to an indiginous national culture than a full on armed invasion by another.

You tax people hard enough for long enough, you make it virtually impossible for the younger generation to have a family. That’s what they’ve done in Japan. Between income uncertainty, stagflation and truly idiotic cost of shelter, you’ve got young men either living with their parents or hot-bunking in “hotel rooms” the size of a phone booth.
Hard to take care of a baby and a wife in a phone both that’s only yours 8 hours out of 24.
