    Bitcoin Miners Are Racking Up $150,000 A Day In Power Consumption Alone

    Blockchain.info, which tracks Bitcoin-related data, estimates that miners are using 1,005.59 megawatt hours of electrical consumption each day in their pursuit of new blocks of Bitcoins. That ends up costing about $150,000 in power costs each day to mine the currency. [Hat tip to Bloomberg for reporting on the data.]

  4. So why doesn’t a well known guy like Nigel Farage do a 30 second commercial during the season finale of Coronation Street that shows the above image and say, “this is what you are paying x- number of billion pounds a year for through taxation and parties X,Y and Z support that 100%”.

  5. Yeah well, come Friday, the 20th, Germany, with it’s reliance upon solar, will have a big grid problem. First a sudden interruption, then a predictable surge after the solar eclipse.
    This will be a bigger problem if it is a clear otherwise sunny day.
    At least they know it’s coming to the very minute…..
