  7. Ezra had Conrad Black on his show yesterday on the topic of Islamic terrorism. The question came up “who exactly is the enemy” and the point was made that it’s difficult to define because the enemy is not a state (country). Conrad Black provided no answer that I could understand but I thought it was a good question particularly since many hawkish pundits advocate “define the enemy” as one of the early steps in waging the war. Unfortunately I have yet to hear any of the pundits actually give a precise definition of the enemy. While it’s clearly not reasonable to simply define “Muslims” as the enemy, I find the often cited “Radical Islam” equally useless when it comes to choosing who to deny immigration, deport, or kill in a proactive mode.
    So who is the enemy?

  10. There is of course no such thing as a moderate Muslim, and I always enjoy Kate’s headline on this subject. If you have read the Koran you will know that a moderate Muslim is entirely incompatible with the tenets of Islam.
    There are hardline Muslims who blowup things, and acquiescent Muslims who support them. That’s it.

  13. The enemy is the doctrine which inspires the action, in this case, the Koran, and the Hadith. All the ethos that surrounds the character of Mohammad, the perfect man according to Islam. The second part is the willing ignorance of its participants – do not question. To quote Dickens: “The girl is want and the boy is ignorance. Beware them both, but especially this boy.”

    My perception of Conrad Black has changed over the last few years. This partly a result of reading his book on the inane and corrupt standards used by the American Prosecutory system, particularly in Illinois. The time Black spent in prison is probably unfair, but without his celebrity he would not have benn pilloried and at the same time an ordinary citizen would have been unable to withstand the pressure of “The State” to gain a prosecution for many more of the suspect charges.
    The main reason for my change of opinion on Conrad Black is his total and complete understanding of the ordinary citizen. His sense of Citizenship is as flawed as P.M. Chretien is and his understanding of the underpinning of Canadian Business through small business entrepreneurial effort is non-existent.
    When I listen or read anything he writes my vision is of a priveledge individual raised to grasp everyting he could, even from family members, and raise his profile on a world stage to where his presence on this earth will be mentioned some how; some where; in some place about the rich and famous and hopefully the once truly profile.
    A simpler description is the old Western North American truisms-“all hat, no cattle” or possibly better-“big belt buckle, small package”.

    As for rationalizing idiots in Al Jazeera, no Christian hit squads are heading their way, though AJ is more complicit in violence than Charlie Hebdo, so might “deserve” it (no they don’t – there’s no law against stupidity). Oh, BTW, Obama and his idiot comment “the future does not belong to those who slander the Prophet” belongs in the dustbin of history because the future belongs to all free people, not just Muslims, who have no right to impose their values out of disdain for ours, by violent or any means.
    Getting off Mideast oil would help a lot. Having rapid reaction forces ready for action, without notice to wipe out any threat before it surfaces is AOK too. The Muslim nations have repudiated their obligations to not export violence. Rationalizations about GWB invading Iraq (what about the pullout, the Russian invasion of Afghanistan, the Crusades) are intelectualy lazy and self serving attempts to deny the conflict between Jihadism and pluralism that has existed for over 1200 years, recently manifested with the use of violent criminals, psychopaths and religious imposters to attack their own people and then blame free people for the resultant misery. Enough of the hypocrisy, fire any politican who refuses to accept this.

  26. Al Jazeera being here does not bother me. Just as all mould, fungus, cockroaches, and rats hate light, Islamic ideology hates to be exposed. Let Islam “tell its story” (to use an overused CBC meme), so its story, or stories, can be shown in all their ugliness. Islam must be dragged into the light, and not left to fester in Paris suburbs.
    Islam, for many Westerners, is like a secret society, set apart by language and culture. Let them translate it all into English, so that everyone can see and hear for themselves what a horror it really is.
    The worst thing that can happen to Islam is for people to hear and read the Quran in their own language. Burn the Quran? No, if you want to make a point for peace and sanity, read it out loud!

  30. I just posted this on a older blog that’s probably gone dormant but thought I’d move it to this “fresh” one to keep the opinions moving.
    I believe the proper analogy here would be one we are all familiar with. Troy believed all was as it should be when they pulled the Trojan horse into the city. Multiculturalism from Muslim countries is that Trojan horse and the end result will be another long bloody conflict which could easily be avoided by knowing which cultures we have something in common with. We have nothing in common with Islam and that will not change. Political correctness will not make that change. Anyone that has read the Quran knows the end game is domination using any and all means. Turning the other cheek or acceptance of another religion is nowhere to be found in the teachings. They have time, purpose and outbreed us. I’m sure someone will bring up immigration from other countries like China, India,Ireland (heh)etc. who also saw their share of discrimination but it all worked out fine in the long run. It worked out fine because their religions did not mandate ruling the world and the dominance of all infidels. The difference should be hammered home to our politicians who are not nearly as bright as we give them credit for.

    Everything the jihadis do can be traced back to the biography(Sira) and sayings(Hadith) of Mo., often but not always supported in the Koran(chronologically adjusted for abrogation). Everything!
    All three texts comprise Islam and Sharia Law, not just the Koran.
    Al Jazeera is a Muslim Brotherhood front, one of thousands. Quatar it’s home base, has been a main supporter and funds the M.B. . Stealth Jihad is their specialty.
    Critical thought allows us to identify what is a danger to Western Civilization and how to counter that. Without it, we’re rendered defenceless.
    The power of a bullet or Cruise missile misdirected into a sand dune won’t save us.
    To date, the West is still losing, both to military jihad terrorism, whether it be the area now controlled by the Islamic State and to Stealth Jihad in the West, which is the specialty of the Muslim Brotherhood (led by doctors, engineers and lawyers).
    Until we, in the West, confront the ideology of Islam in the “combat” of free public debate, we’ll continue to lose.
    The military and police response, while necessary, is not sufficient by itself to prevail.

    There are secular or liberal Muslims who reject the warlord parts of Islam, and moderates who try to keep to most of the early peaceful Meccan verses. The Islamic Supremacists keep to the fundamentals, emphasizing the Medina verses Islam of Mo. the warlord.
    But it’s not a democracy, it’s the most aggressive and brutal who rule under tribal values. Only a truly strong, bold critique of the ideology, followed by both politically and militarily effective tactics will defeat the 3rd jihad.

  34. Perhaps France (if they had any guts) should tell Iran to stop funding muslim extremists in their country. I’m sure they know how they’re doing it and who they are. If Iran refuses, nuke Tehran. If they still refuse nuke another city — repeat until completely cleansed.
    After the first nuke start sending all muslims on ships back to the ME or Algeria and if they are refused port…remove all French crewmen and skin the ships. If there are any violent protests by muslims order the army to shoot to kill anyone involved.
    That would be my 30 day solution to this ‘problem’. Hey….one can dream:)

  37. Larry I agree with the tenor of your comments but disagree that we are losing. We are winning because jihadists will never force their beliefs and Sharia law on us. We like our freedom too much. Yes they cause suffering and must be eliminated everywhere – but they will never defeat us. Even idiotic progressives will fail to undermine us, we like our toys and sex on the internet too much to give them up to their failed ideals. We could elect twenty Obamas and that will not change – we will lose plenty of freedom and treasure – but we will never submit to Sharia any more than we will submit to other religious totalitarians.
    To be clear – we must understand that Islam has a problem right now – bringing up events of 5, 10 or 1000 years ago is meaningless tripe. We face a clear and present danger because Islam has a problem. They need to fix their problem and stop inflicting it on us or blaming us for it.

    As the population percentage of Muslims increases in the Western World, we see the gradual acceptance or acquiescence to Sharia. The Toronto District School Board offering prayer rooms in schools, the serving of halal meat in fast food restaurants. Now the blatant self-censorship of showing the Charlie Hebdo comics by the CBC.
    It is not a matter of Islam “fixing their problem” as they do not see it as a problem, it is an ingrained feature of their religion. Therefore it is up to the Western World to decide to stop it or submit.
    I will not submit.

    Much like socialism, fascism, communism and other such. Just to make things clear, capitalism is an invented word by communists so that they cover all the bases.
    The actual word for that is free enterprise, no sign of ‘ism there.
    All things being multicultural if would follow that this and that culture contains certain traits and habits.
    Some cultures consider killing an honorable act, some think it’s cool, some think that it’s just not done.
    So to follow on the cultures that think it is cool to kill, them cultures living in other cultures that think it’s not done, yo would think that just to get along, the cultures that kill should go on with that and those that think it’s not done should just suck it up.
