Tonight we get a rare glimpse inside Texan Wilson “Connie” Edwards’ 100,000+ square foot hangar complex and its remarkable treasure trove of iconic warbirds. (Scroll to the bottom of the page for the video).

The San Andreas fault has been unusually quiet as of late and that has geologists worried. If you’ve stocked up on popcorn and can’t wait to celebrate the big event………. here’s a preview.

Re: Warbirds
Thanks–that was enlightening! I heard a Rolls Royce Merlin once–the sound stayed with me forever.
Enjoy! Stereo headphones work best!

An excellent essay about modern journalism by Rick Wilson at Ricochet: Fault Lines. Highly recommended.
Not an aircraft engine but google and try the sound of a Napier Deltic 18 cylinder diesel in your earphones!
And check how it works too – very different.
This is one insane skier.
It’s easy to see why professional skier Cody Townsend won Powder magazine’s “Line of the Year” award with this death-defying run through a narrow mountain chute in Alaska. Just try to prevent your stomach from dropping while watching this:

Today, CBC radio entertained their usual audience of several shut-ins with an interview of angry, belligerent — and I’m pretty sure DRUNK — Bill Nye – The Science Guy(tm).

I was a AME for 30+ years and there are two engines that are as iconic just for their sound as they are for their performance. #1 is the Merlin V-12. the second is the Pratt & Whitney R-985 radial you find in a DeHaviland Beaver.
The roar of either at full song is simply awesome.
In college I was fortunate to have worked on a Merlin as a restoration project. It was the Merlin out of a Lancaster… based on the same engine in a Spitfire and the P-51, but it has a second stage of supercharger and a second speed of the same.
Putin’s New Weapon In The Ukraine Propaganda War: Internet Trolls
http://www.forbes.com/sites/paulroderickgregory/2014/12/09/putins-new-weapon-in-the-ukraine-propaganda-war-internet-trolls/
The internet troll army’s selling of the Kremlin’s parallel universe to the Russian people and to a skeptical Western audience is a matter of life and death for the Putin regime. If the Russian people do not buy their story, Putin loses the high “ratings” on which his regime rests. If he cannot convince his Western audience, Europe and the United States will take actions that spoil his Novorossiya ventures and threaten his regime. Trolling is a high stakes business that Putin takes seriously and the West must not underestimate.

Didn’t Suzuki once say humans are maggots living in their own defecation? Wonder if perhaps maggots have started gnawing at his brain?
Now that was a great warbirds story.
Regarding the so-called Conservative federal government’s competition thingy to look into price differentials on products in the US and Canada.
I look forward to the results of their first investigation wherein it will be revealed that Government is the cause.
the sound of a merlin in full flight is a sound never to be forgotten. Especially at close range. I was at the Berlin Deutshland airshow just after unification and there was an ME109 dogfighting with allied vintage aircraft. Full bore and with a nice number of chases over the runway! The Air Force major standing next to me, the whole air show stopped for the display, said that these guys are flying aircraft 50 years old flat out and it is wonderful to see, as long as the wings stay on!
You believe a lawyer?
Yeah. I know those classic aircraft restorers are meticulous, but I’m still looking at those planes and thinking: wartime production shortcuts, expected lifespan in combat in hours if not minutes…a acceptance of danger that is dramatically higher than today…
Basically a couple of tonnes of metal fatigue, very old parts, and problems waiting to sneak up and bite you.
Very cool article though. Feel sorry for the old coot losing his boy though.
The one thing we had that even compared to the US constitution was reasonable privacy laws.

Is Liberal Chick satire? If it is, it’s very good. If not, we’ve got some severe problems here. I think the clue is the deliberate spelling mistake in each of her Facebook postings.
