The only German plant that produces battery cells for electric cars will be closed. The company Li-Tec in the German state of Saxony will produce batteries only for one more year. Daimler Manager Harald Kroger told Spiegel that the current production numbers make it far too expensive to produce the batteries.

When even the most well connected and government funded rent seekers around
the world can’t survive in the electric car battery market, it’s just about time for the
fat lady to sing. Saxony? Isn’t that in the former DDR, the home of many hundreds,
if not thousands, of very carefully planned failed futuristic green industrial works
