Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Do we even call our parents mom and dad anymore? Isn’t the correct term parental unit? Screw the whiny CBC hack, just because she believes men and women are the same in every respect doesn’t make it so.
Ah,another anti-Conservative screed from Jeffiner Bitchdurn, not too surprising. The last time Jen said anything positive about any conservative, I cannot recall.
Nice to know that the standards for conservatives is so much higher than for anyone else.
I guess the media must secretly view them as more decent, caring, and honest than the alternative who when they do something close to honourable, like talk to imaginary homeless people, or leave a massage parlour during a bust, fall over themselves to shine apples for them.
Hey, I scrub my own toilets in the family; so is Jen ‘Burning in the Ditch’ going to hold a candle, to ensure quality control that the biffy is up to her lofty standards?
When will Jen be singing my praises?

I once saw a report on global warming on CBC news dissing the conservative point of view done by ditchpig. They showed a collage of icebergs calving and dinosaurs screaming. Not at all slanted.
Are we gender non-specific yet?
I really think Peter McKay is playing the Opps like Chrystia Freeland and their media partners like fiddles with his comments and they’re taking the bait, responding exactly as one would expect like the fools and tools they are.
There are many more pressing issues for our government to deal with than to get stuck on stupid reporting and haggling over mommy and daddy duties, time to close parliament, send the kiddies home for the summer.
Setting up Peter Mackay just in case you thought he might be the next leader of the Conservatives.
Next!
in other news…Iggy takes fulltime position at Hah-vard!
thanks folks only visiting…
“Isn’t the correct term parental unit?”
I think the correct term is biological co-parental unit vs. the communal or state co-parental unit.
Some politicians just don’t know when it’s prudent to shut up. They should know by now that there is always some victims group out there that analyzes every word and the media looks for any crumb they can turn into a biscuit. Why elected officials feel we need a statement from them for every mickey mouse recognition day is beyond me.
So very right. I was thinking of that only a couple of days ago and wondering when it would begin. It is inevitable.
One of us is reading it correctly, and I hope it is I.
The messages were internal emails and CP gained access to them.
I’m sure you don’t mean a minister cannot send personal greetings to his staff without the media dissecting it.
fact is why do we even have these nonsensical celebratory “days”. At most a Happy Whatever is more than sufficient.
having said that I agree with Kate on the reporter thing!
Peter MacKay is a relatively new father. So his message to other fathers in the department no doubt reflects his emotions on becoming a Dad. His Mother’s Day message, on the other hand, is well-intended recognition of the multiple responsibilities many women handle on a daily basis. No doubt as his child gets older, Mr MacKay will find out first-hand that Dads do a lot of this stuff as well.
What would we do with all of our extra time if we didn’t spend so much of it searching for insults. We might even have some time to solve some real world problems.
