  1. The peasants should not have a choice.
Pffffftt, the mere thought of it, ridiculous!
Oh minion! Make sure Air Force 1 is ready for me and my elite 0.0001% buddies to go golfing.
And should mooch take the kids to China, hmmm, it’s tough this leadership thingy. Better fire up a fattie on my jet! Choom choom!!
    Eat CO2 peasants!

  2. Nothing like more empowered bureaucrats to make life miserable for the working class. Another green branch on the tree of brainwashed planet savers throwing up more roadblocks to any kind of meaningful economic recovery. Of course they will have their own swat team like every other Government agency and extreme measures can be taken if there is resistance to those vehicles being taken for analyses. That’s the only election promise Obama has kept. He has transformed America. Hardly recognize it.

  3. They keep pushing for a revolution and they’ll eventually get it, but it won’t be the one they’re hoping for.

  4. America is a defacto police state regime now – you read dozens of articles a day about state/police aggressive abuse of civil rights and constitutional freedoms – the latest is the superior court rulings allowing warrantless searches of cars and iphone content, by police at unprovoced traffic stops -essentially defeating just cause and reasonable suspicion for detention and personal search. Now I hear the Justice dept. is pressuring banks to deny gun stores accounts and credit – it just gets worse and and worse. America cannot solve this problem with elections, they need indictments, trials and incarcerations of the treasonous political class allowing such open contempt of constitutional protocol.
The republic is going down the vortex to statist absolutism – guys like Jefferson, Adams, Jackson and Madison would have mustered the militia, surrounded the capital and captured, tied and hanged the treasonous malefactors by now – but we wait to see if modern US patriots will put up with the next constitutional abomination that comes from their treasonous political class with its kangaroo courts and psycho goon squads.
The criminal US state has been gearing up for war with the population for the past decade, now they are purposely trying to provoke constitutionalists with oppression and civil abominations on a daily basis – I fear the unrelenting federal belligerence towards citizens will result in casualties. the US is a powder keg and it will take just one more Waco incident to spark off unintended consequences.

  5. Great comment trapped. You made my morning.
I work for a car company. The tax regs alone are enough to suffocate you, let alone all the other regulatory BS.

  6. anyone who doesn’t believe the good old US of A isn’t a police state NOW is an idiot.

  7. “I have become a symbol of the possibility of America returning to our best traditions.” — Barack Obama

  8. Let us see now.
Could it be that the police state is on march to control the population in a circular way?
Could it be that the ruling class is reading the ins and outs of GESTAPO and NKVD or KGB?
Could it be that the bureaucracy, the non elected nobodys want to be somebodys?
Could it that it is another turn of little bit by little bit by the increasingly totalitarian control freaks to enforce nonsense to make the population to get used to diktat little bit at a time?
On the face of it, it does not look as a threat, in the big scheme of things it is rather large.
Until the population wakes up and stop it, though it may be late by then.

  9. It has been claimed elsewhere that the Obamanation are prepping for a civil war…..perhaps they are…
A critical mass is prepping for a pushback….
No plan survives contact with the enemy…..

  10. While I certainly agree with the comments above about the neo-fascists running the US, I have to ask a more mundane question:
How in the h*ll are they going to determine if a car meets the standard? IIRC, standard testing is done in a wind tunnel, on a dynamometer (or whatever they call that thing), to simulate a variety of conditions – highway, city, etc. How is some clueless bureaucrat, equipped with the now-standard numeracy that requires a calculator to compute 7*13, supposed to figure this out? Is he going to take the car on a test drive? Is there some new whiz-bang fuel consumption calculation device that fits into a pocket? And of course, there’s a sampling issue – how can any car at random be expected to meet a standard, given the variety of manufacturing issues? Some will be better and some will be worse, just like some Chevies can be driven 1,000’s of miles without complaint, and others are full of bugs.
Stupidity combined with fascism! What a country!

  11. The standards and any ancillary pretend things are not really that important.
The important part is that the state, bureaucrats, the police, the storm troopers can attack a business if it does not tow the political line.
Viz the guitar maker that had to shut down business because they did not contribute to the current dictator’s campaign.
    It is really that simple.

  12. As stupid and evil as this proposed regulation is (there has to be another reason why they want warrantless entry into car dealerships – to confiscate the cars?), why is no one talking about the $300 BILLION that is to be spent by this bill? What are you Yanks getting for your money besides the snooping?
And who’s lending your Government the money?

  13. BJC, who gains the most by this type of stupidity? The big oil companies and the government. Big oil can keep their prices high, increased profit margins, and the gov’t reaps in more tax dollars, does the clarify things a little:-)))
