The Pig Trap

Grab a coffee.

So in the context of the early 1770′s, what would the Founders think about the government secretly and illegally trafficking thousands of military-grade arms to criminals, brigands, and pirates, knowing full well that those criminals will kill thousands of innocent people with said arms, as a ploy to disarm their own citizenry… and when caught red-handed in this criminal and despicable act, the governmental appointee responsible for executing this disgraceful policy lies, dissembles, and stonewalls, and suffers no sanction or penalty?
What would they think of the government reading, and oftentimes copying and warehousing, every single letter of their correspondence, their diaries, their conversations, their most private and intimate of communications?
What would they think of government agents standing on rooftops and street corners, monitoring and documenting the comings and goings of every citizen every day of his life, whom they speak with and associate with, and what they purchase and from whom?
What would they think about their government spying on journalists, town criers, and pamphleteers, and swearing out false oaths to judges to have them surveilled?
What would they think about government tax agents given specific orders to harass, intimidate, penalize, and obstruct any person who speaks for peaceful, legislative reform of the government or is critical of the government, even demanding that they document the content of their prayers?

It’s long, it’s depressing, and it absolutely demands to be read to the end.

  1. “Better to live under one tyrant a thousand miles away, than a thousand tyrants one mile away.”
    – Daniel Bliss
And old King George III was a pretty inadequate tyrant by modern standards.

  2. It is scarey to see the amount of power being shifted in the US. Sure, technology has sped up the process but what drives me nuts is the short memory of most of the population. Many don’t realize that the Orwellian meme is coming to fruition. The thing that scares me the most though is that where America goes, Canada will soon follow.
    Down right depressing indeed.

  3. It would be nice to think that shooting one hundred people would do the trick. With a hollowed-out and institutionalized culture supporting those most corrupt in charge and on top of permanent leviathan bureaucracies on autopilot, the inevitable civil war will be very ugly.

  4. “So in the context of the early 1770′s, what would the Founders think…”
Lost me already. We know what they would think. They risked their lives and their sacred honor over a tenth of what we put up with every day.
Why isn’t history taught in schools anymore? This is why.

  5. What I found startling was the parallel of the complaints of the colonials toward George III and the abuses of power by Obama I.
It’s incrementalism of the first order, not unlike Putin’s actions in Ukraine. Except without the violence – so far.
The acceptance and promotion of these tactics by liberals/progressives in government and media is, to say the least, worrisome.

  6. Just shooting one hundred wouldn’t be enough.
However, if the reasons each shooting were clearly explained….

  7. Within every great movement dreamed up by mankind lies the seeds of its own destruction. While freedom is a laudable condition absolute freedom begets tyranny as assuredly as night follows day. In the case of the American Ideal the freedom of the revolutionaries meant the expulsion of the loyalists. Freedom of religion is noble until one’s religion becomes the freedom from religion at which time the human impulse it to expunge everyone else’s religious choice. It is best to remember that when Adam and Eve took a bite of the forbidden fruit the fruit was from the tree of knowledge of Good AND Evil not the knowledge of Good OR evil.

  8. Well it is Good Friday…and the crowd demands the release of the murderer Barrabas. That would be a ‘depressing read’…
“Here’s one issue: our government has an estimated 90 trillion dollars of upcoming bills, and no real idea on how to pay those bills, other than running the Treasury’s printing presses until they overheat.”
The incumbents job is to keep milking the populace, while they are safely ensconced in their sinecures.
The government treasury is truly well and done bled dry, and they need all those hollow point bullets to inspire fear in the crowd, to keep them in line.
Which is why the ‘Fast and Furious’ gun runners, like Holder et al., ginned up an anti 2nd amendment protocol; which will in the end make crowd control easier.
And of course the Bureau of Land Management rounded up Clive Bundy’s cattle because they need practice…
Oh and did I mention…Happy Good Friday!

  9. Probably the 100 would suffice…
The Lois Lerners for example would fade inta the woodwork fast, like the cockroaches that they are.
No need to explain…they understand….in fact they understand better than most…..wadda ya think they bought enough hollow points, enough to shoot every American in the head 5 times with enough to reload?

  10. I think its important at this point in the conversation to remember that the “bread and circuses” approach in Rome worked well for its leaders for quite a long time. Well over a hundred years, if memory serves. No surprise that it still works now.

  11. Nice post Scott, and on an appropriate day too. Happy Easter Larry. Cheers, Eric

  12. Nations have few permanent friends, but they do have permanent interests. One permanent interest of America is to maintain liberty and freedom. Russian Communism was a threat to that interest. It no longer is. Communism was a threat to Christianity. It no longer is. We do not have to look far to see threats to Christianity and Freedom in this world, but we do not see them in Russia now. We do see them in the Middle East, where the plain language of the Koran states that there can never be peace between Islam and unbelievers, only truces; and the plain duty of an Islamic leader, whether President of Muslim People’s State, or a Caliph of the Faithful, is to impose Islam everywhere. The Koran is as chiliastic as Das Kapital or the Manifesto ever were. Islam or the sword is the command of Allah. Of course for the People of the Book – Christians and Jews – there is the choice of dhimmitude: to live under Muslim rule and pay the tax for not being enlightened enough to accept Islam.

  13. I have to agree with your comment Texas.. However the resulting transfer from the states will be much worse violence in Canada.. We’ve had longer to brood…

  14. People holding up RUSSIA (the land of Sergei Magnitsky, Anna Politkovskaya, etc) as an example of FREEDOM are saying a lot about the kind of people they really are.
I’m certain of two things about “the kind of person you really are”.
    1. An asshole
    2. An asshole who belongs on the list of assholes to lock up in the event that Russia decides to saw off a chunk of Canadian arctic territory.
And apologies to everyone reading this decidedly domestic unrelated thread. But he started it.

  15. When that fellow in Braveheart said: “I’m no dyin for these bastards!” I know exactly what he meant.

  16. “The insanity of the French Revolution was abated in England by the Weslyan [sic] revival of brothers John and Charles. The Christian Faith calmed the insanity, yet real progress, and true freedoms were gained in England, though without the bloodshed. We have in history to compare an believers’ American revolution that was bloody, but only as necessary in a just war; we see in France the atheist version, killing for killing’s sake.”
This is a diatribe; it is certainly not history.
You conveniently ignore that a good part of the political evolution of England rested on its mid-1600s civil war and “Glorious Revolution” of 1688. You seem to ignore entirely that England (as Britain) spent a good part of the 18th Century fighting France, an internal struggle for the throne with the two Pretenders, the American revolution and a rebellion in Ireland.
    Without bloodshed, my eye.

  17. I’m going to delete a bunch of off topic comments. When you see a post about the Catholic Church, feel free to pick up where you left off.

  18. “Probably the 100 would suffice…”
Agree, Lois Lerner is just an unelected bureaucrat.
There are *252 Democrats sitting in the U.S. Congress right now.
These ring leaders who swore oaths not to do the things they are doing need to be dealt with and I don’t think 100 would suffice.
*yes I know many of the RINOs are just as bad, but using the Dem number was convenient

  19. Very little to disagree with in that post.
Perhaps the part where he mentions his passing at 106 at the side of his 22 years old 2nd wife.
My dream gal Connie is the same age as I am.

  20. Wheeler said, “I believe in efficiency and economy of action. You wouldn’t trade one hundred of those criminal bastards for ten million of your fellow Americans?”
I can not over emphasize the importance of this statement!
Wheeler and I went to the same school..

  21. “Islam or the sword is the command of Allah.”
Is there anywhere in the Quran that this phrase occurs?

  22. For those who think we will escape the fate of America under the lawless statist tyranny about to descend on the US, I have two words – High River.

  23. “what would the Founders think…?”
That’s easy. They’d be helping organize the revolution against a regime infinitely more tyrannical than the one they revolted against in 1776. They would regard it as iniquitous even if it operated within its own laws, let alone the outright criminality of things like Fast and Furious etc.
No, Sasquatch, you’re dead wrong. Removing 100 people would fix nothing. It’s a tragic delusion that this would all go away if that happened. The regime in the United States exists today because it has large support within the US body politic. Erase these particular names and others would simply rise to take their place.

  24. “what would the Founders think…?”
That the Red coats finally won, just biding their time.Using an ideology that has a built in failure. Socialism has no realistic idea of human nature, or reality.
Its a mind-game that if played real World. Rots into destitute decline any institution it touches. Than kills not only individuals, but whole Nations.

  25. Very good point. Given their actions after the flood, the RCMPee have given us no reason to trust them at all.

  26. Excellent article-well worth the read indeed.
The writer’s exchange with Wheeler reminds me of Raymond Reddington’s character from the TV drama “The Blacklist”, except Wheeler’s list has many more names.
It’s highly doubtful, should the 100 be rounded up for public humiliation and punishment, that leftist liberals or PC progressives would arm themselves being anti-violence gun haters. As entitled spoiled narcissists, they are also cowards and lazy. They’d respond by smoking a heck of a lot of pot and increasing their anti-depressant/psychotropic doses. Remember Occupy Wall Street – your truck may possibly be sh!t on and vandalized and your identity stolen, but that’s about it. Too much self interest and inability to organize and carry out a plan – will be busy sexually assaulting their members and robbing the funds from their non-profits. A belief in socialism and collectivism doesn’t translate to self sacrifice or real community. JMO.

  27. Thanks for pointing this guy out. He’s now on my favourites list:) Some good writing in there.

  28. In their own words:
“Just finished reading the Koran – a good book and interesting.”
    George S Patton
“I have read the Koran and can tell you that I unequivocally believe that Islam is a religion of peace.”

  29. Oh, and I love the smell of an Alpha Marxist’s bunghole. Ready for your orders, King Obama!

  30. Yeah well, I have confidence the rest of the cockroaches will see the light and hide.
I also hold that most of the problems in the ME would be solve by 1 intermediate range/yield nuke on Mecca during Haj(anonymously from the general direction of Iran/Pakistan)…..if no-one took credit. There would be no mass protests…..

  31. An update regarding ‘The Pig Trap’:
“…Tens of thousands of people have read this post. I look at my stats, and I can’t believe what I see… no less than ten thousand people read that post Thursday. Hundreds of hits are coming in from Australia, of all places. Dozens of websites have linked to this post,…”

    From the comments, Rebecca says:
“…Your story resounds to the public. There are not thousands or even tens of thousands who feel as you do but they also believe the story written here. It is written in the faces and discussions of millions….”
