The RCMP does not have enough evidence to charge the prime minister’s former chief of staff, Nigel Wright, and it dropped its investigation against him, RCMP spokeswoman Lucy Shorey said Tuesday afternoon. […]
“Upon completion of the investigation, we have concluded that the evidence gathered does not support criminal charges against Mr. Wright,” Shorey said in an e-mail.
As I was saying….

Oh good, there was nothing fishy about his actions at all. We should all like him again. We’re not hyper partisans and if this were a Liberal chief of staff, we’d declare that person’s innocence too on such developments.
And Mr Ian Kluge wins the comments’ sections, everywhere, for the day. (See Kate’s link.)
I guess that’s why whenever I asked leftie trolls what section of the criminal code Wright had broken, none of them would/could ever give me an answer.
Tim….what are you on about??
So, Tim, what section of the criminal code did Wright break?
And only in Canada could paying back taxpayers’ money become an issue.
Timmy…millions…adscam…lieberals
please provide a link to lieberals having paid back said stolen tax-payer $$$$$$$$$
You can bet the Media Party knew this would be the outcome all along, who wouldn’t? That however didn’t stop the Media Party from lynching Wright in the public square in the hope that the manufactured perception of wrong doing would be more powerful than the truth.
The lefties have won again.
They knew that they were wrong, but the smears that they generate will be remembered much longer than the outcome.
The CBC thrives on these accusations.
Sure, they are usually wrong, but that is not important. The perception of constant corruption that they produce is important.
The “Afghan detainee” hoax that the CBC nurtured with the Liberal party is the best example of the rot that permeates both the CBC and the Liberal party.
The CBC accepted an unsubstantiated accusation from a close friend of Michael Ignatieff (Amir Attaran), and ran with it.
The other networks jumped on the bandwagon.
It was all BS.
Attaran owed Ignatieff and paid his debt.
Iggy intervened on Amir’s behalf at Harvard when the young Iranian-American was going to be turfed.
Shortly after Attaran accused our troops, his parents were fast tracked into Canada.
Surprisingly, Amir now ‘teaches’ at the U of Ottawa which is run by Allan Rock.
There was no document produced.
There was no American source produced.
The CBC did not care.
When it turned out to be all BS by the inquiry which included Stephane Dion, the CBC buried the story.
That is how the lefties win.
They control most of the media, especially the CBC.
And they do it well.
Nice backhand from the RCMP spoketool: “the evidence gathered does not support criminal charges” is different than “we’ve got nothing on this guy” or even ghod forbid, “he’s innocent”.
Man, I can’t stand mealy mouthed bureaucrats. Prayin’ for an asteroid here.
Liberal corruption – theft of millions from the government.
Conservative corruption – repaying money to the government.
Do I detect a trend?
I think their statement is fair enough. You can’t declare someone innocent if they have not been charged with something and “We got nothing on the guy” — is essentially what they said. Good news for sure. Wright just seemed to get caught in some nasty partisan cross-fire.
Ezra did a nice take-down of Attaran some time ago. I am afraid it also did not get the attention it deserved. Very informative in showing what that guy is up to. I cringe that taxpayers support him. I did not know about the Iggy connection. Yes, this type of thing is all too typical of the Liberal Party. Heaven forbid that they should get power again — at least not for a generation or two.
Of course there is nothing criminal or even morally wrong in either lending or giving another person money. What I really find unacceptable was how he was immediately thrown under the bus by the PM. Such knee-jerk and unthinking action does not encourage party loyalty in my opinion.
The snippets I saw from the major TV news commentary were that Wright got off on some kind of technicality, but the ethics commissioner had him firmly in her sights.Paul Wells was the most adamant that Wright was guilty anyway of something, we just don’t know yet. And so it goes, a long way from being innocent in their eyes.
And yet a replacement was easily found and party membership continues to grow.
I didn’t listen to the CBC clip but Moe sure looks unhappy.
You nailed it Tim. If there was nothing amiss here, why did Harper lie and lie about it?
Nicely put, Spinal Tap, like asking someone if they have stopped beating their wife. Because Harper didn’t “lie and lie.” He didn’t even lie. And he didn’t say Wright done wrong, he said it was inappropriate. It was certainly inappropriate for the PM’s Chief of Staff to do something that could so easily be misrepresented by the highly partisan media as the corruption you and your ilk fantasize about. A head of government needs a chief of staff who is more careful than that, one who doesn’t get into the news, so Wright resigned when told to. That’s the polite way you dismiss professionals.
The CBC has truly jumped the shark, 14 minutes of National coverage on an issue that they have fostered and embellished over the last twelve months has come to naught. The facial expressions of the panel speaks volumes. Perhaps the CBC would have better luck in the months ahead to cover some true scandals, perhaps they can start with this:
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/lise-thibault-former-lt-gov-of-quebec-goes-to-trial-1.2603302
before moving up to Wynne and the gas plants or Redford and her expenses. Problem with these scandals is that there is no connection to the CPC and Harper, and therefore it is not in the CBC’s interest to use taxpayers money to vigorously chase any scandal that cannot reflect badly on the present government of Canada. If the panel covers the Trudeau lawsuit and the above mentioned scandals with as much vigor as they chased Duffy and Walin then perhaps, just perhaps they might start back on the road to being journalists, however they are now in a hole so deep that it will be years, if ever, when anyone of them or the moderator can claim to be a ‘news-reporter’.
I had to quit the video before it hit the ten-minute mark as my blood pressure was going through the roof. What a bunch @#$^%ing, scumbag, Liberal hacks out to hang a man who had committed no crime, not to mention his former boss!
Defund the @#$^% CBC right now!
Exactly, they had to get that last dig in by stating “The RCMP does not have enough evidence to charge the prime minister’s former chief of staff, Nigel Wright….” From everything I read the RCMP had nothing, zip, zero, which is light years away from “does not have enough evidence”. Bastards are worse than petulant children.
What a sad looking pack of “At Issue” stars at the news the RCMP dropped the investigation. Don’t expect the Media Party to STFU,their mission to get rid of the Harper government will continue, Justin is their boy.
The Queen’s cowboys get wood when they roll out these “get even “ projects to embarrass Harper. They still hate him for removing their favorite play toy (the long gun registry) which severely curtailed their favorite pastime – abusing civilians with warrantless searches and malicious prosecution.
Since Harper has removed half their ability to persecute CPC base supporters, they have gone on a rogue wilding – Illegally keeping/using registry data, tasering anyone who looks sideways at them, kicking in flood victims doors and looting their homes, creating paper outlaws with unilateral firearms reclassification, and generally flipping the middle finger at the Harper government.
Harper has at his disposal an issue (High River) which will allow him to sweep the RCMP clean of its political agendas and partisan zealotry, but, again, he sits on the pot searching for his gonads – the man is a wimp and deserves to be bullied by an insubordinate contemptuous bureaucracy.
It makes me laugh.
If a Conservative is cleared by police he/she is still guilty of something.
If a Liberal is cleared(rare) then it is total exoneration.
Talking heads were exploding.
Chantal bringing uo omerta. She really has become a liberal shill. How will she pay her bills once the CBC actually becomes PBS.
Ha, look at that above panel…….those are some glum faces.
First Ford then Wright; not a good month for ambulance chasing leftards.
Liberals steal 30+ million from taxpayers and never pay it back = Ho hum
Conservatives use 90 thousand of their own money to bail out a colleague = Scandal
I thought the AT ISSUE panel’s timing was right. This week we remember Pontius Pilate saying of Jesus “I find no fault in him” and the crowd cries “CRUCIFY HIM”. The At ISSUE panel was true to form. History repeats itself.
They all said that even though there are no charges …. “this story will be around for a long time to come” ….. well … that is because THEY will do what it takes to keep it alive right up to the next election.
I do not forgive the corrupt senator, they should all be in jail however …. it is what it is the left is freaking as usual.
They do not ever leave a conservative alone if there is even on drop of blood in the water whatsoever.
They are piraña
They are the CBC
I think we want the oppo parties to run another election like the last one where they drone on about non-scandals and we present a credible agenda. Top that off with a 100% guaranteed serious gaff by Justin and I think we have a recipe for another great victory.
Loved your post! What a great analogy.
Wonder if Wright should lawyer up and serve libel notices to some of the “cleared but guilty anyway crowd” CBC is still at the same refrain this morning, He has done something wrong, perhaps the ethics commissioner will get him.
If Kathleen Wynne can go that route, I can’t see why Wright couldn’t try it.
He didn’t even lie.
You’re as FOS as any partisan. Harper’s changed his story over and over.

Chantel Hebert said
“In all those emails the clear impression from Nigel Wright’s writings is that the P.M. was in the loop long before it was finalized”
When Hebert depends on “her impressions” to try and substantiate her position, it is a bit of a stretch to make a blatant misrepresentation of facts, whether the P.M. was informed.
I would love to see Hebert as a witness in court and try and pass off that kind of fuzzy testimony.
That may be good enough for a CBC panel but it isn’t good enough for factual news for Canadians.
The simple truth and fact of the matter is that Nigel Wright at no time and in no uncertain terms, say that the PM knew or “was in the loop” – and the proof of that is Hebert would have quoted him if he had.
Here is another look at CBC’s At Issue panel …
So there seem to be many comments about “liberals” being hard on Wright.
Somehow, I thought I heard the Prime Minister saying some things about him that were not so nice.
Apparently Conservatives are now standing behind Wright?
I ALWAYS thought he was treated very poorly. I wish Conservatives and Harper had been as consistent in what they thought.
Can I trust that it won’t be different tomorrow if he testifies honestly to any investigation?
I realize I’m being shallow here, but just what do the make-up guys/gals get paid for over there at the CBC? Does this Hebert woman ever look in a mirror? I’m pretty sure that Coyne does his own.
