Former Harvard Physicist Dr. Lubos Motl, now back in Czechoslovakia, responds to the recent assertion by Christiana Figueres, the Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, that democracy is a poor system for fighting global warming, and that China is “doing it right”:
The goal of these “people” is to stop democracy, freedom, and prosperity regardless of the fate of Nature, the temperatures, or the CO2 concentrations…Just to be sure, comrade Figueres, the “slow” negotiations in the U.S. Congress – known as democracy – are not detrimental at all. They are what keeps the society decent, what allows it to search and find a better solution among at least two, and what protects the society against power-thirsty individuals like Adolf Hitler, Joseph Stalin, Mao Zedong, and yourself. The well-being of America is one of the arguments supporting the view that freedom and democracy are precious values that must be defended against false values and pseudosciences such as eugenics, Lysenkoism, the cultural revolution, and climate alarmism.

Can’t wait for ‘bama and Harper to give her the same dressing down.
That fits in well with that English guy calling them watermelons……
Past time for a cull…..
Nice to see Lysenkoism and climate alarmism on the same list. Hope a lot of people google the former.
The greatest lie of the last century was that political global domination by fascist (crony socialism) or communist (statist socialism) policy engineers was not a convergence point of the two ideologies.
The greatest lie of this century is that global crony/statist socialist agents provocateurs are not using the UN to accomplish their agendas.
Billons of dollars of air time and millions of gallons of printers ink have been expended in propagandizing public blindness to this transnational subversion of sovereign power to a central global authority – branding anyone who saw the truth of the mater a “conspiracy theorist” – as was John Birch was when he warned America of the post 2nd world war intent of doctrinaire fascist and communist globalists infiltrating the UN.
Use of both words on the same list is redundant.
Anyone who has any historical education must feel the cycle of stupidity asserting itself.
Leftists/communists have asserted control on the media, the entertainment industry, the educational system, and pretty much everything else.
Our youth have been convinced that capitalism and self reliance are evil and the government is the answer.
With the help of a compliant media, the english language has been usurped such that all understanding of facts are twisted and reversed.
As in the past, only massive bloodshed, war, and carnage will again set the record and civilization straight.
The leftist’s never quit…ever. In the past it was referred to as good and evil.
They must be convincingly and soundly defeated and forced back under their rocks where they belong.
It’s sad that the human animal seems unable to learn from it’s past, always having to endure bloody lessons again and again.
Right On! Occam; Cheers;
But democracy is just fine for wind turbines and carbon taxes. It’s also OK for democracy to stop nuclear power. IOW it’s OK to pollute your country to Lake Erie standards, trample on your peoples’ rights, and build hundreds of coal fired generating systems. Interestingly enough it’s OK to build 24 nuclear power reactors and, by sheer coincidence, your nuclear weapons capability.
It’s not OK to convince the taxpayer to drop the disgusting waste of taxpayers’ dollars by saying no to climate totalitarianism. It’s not OK, likely proving democracy doesn’t work, to allow insignificant emitting oil sands to provide prosperity and energy security. Remember comrades, prosperity is fine, but freedom cannot be allowed to infect it.
Finally, it’s OK for the competitions’ (Saudi Arabia) proxies at the Tides Foundation to pay off aboriginal leaders:
http://www.edmontonsun.com/2014/01/17/first-nations-chief-received-55000-from-tides-foundation
The oil sands represent the focal point of the watermelon movement which seeks to run our lives, not through corrupt socialism as before, but through climate propaganda masquerading as science. They will pull out all the stops, with useful idiots like Neil Young and willing dupes in the aboriginal movement. If they fail with their flagship oil sands incursion, their movement will ultimately perish, followed by recriminations.
SA and the Tides Foundation bankrolling aside, their movement is already dead, but that could change with a stuttering Liberal government in Ottawa, frozen in time as the Obama administration is on Keystone. Though it seems unlikely, remember the Alinskyites pulled is off with the big Obama win. Now they’re set their sites on the oilsands.
Lysenkoism is used metaphorically to describe the manipulation or distortion of the scientific process as a way to reach a predetermined conclusion as dictated by an ideological bias, often related to social or political objectives.
Climate alarmism is precisely Lysenkoism, along with GMO alarmism, Vaccine alarmism, cow farts, and all food and drug alarmists.
It seems as if Figueres and Shiny Pony have subscribed to the same ideology. Particularly onerous given the (favourable) press coverage each receives.
In the 1920s there were many admirers of Mussolini in the American academic left. Democracy was often seen as a hindrance. The idea was that we could really make progress if only we had with a strong right-thinking leader with few limitations on power.
I call it “the fascist impulse”.
….fascist (crony socialism) or communist (statist socialism)….
A most excellent definition, should be in a dictionary.
I agree, and Doowleb is right. It is heart breaking to see the extent to which the leftists/communist ideology has penetrated the media, the entertainment industry, the educational system, and infected our politicians.
The modern day equivalent of the gulag re-education camps are not far away. The 1920-1930s soviet kulak enemies of the people are now AGW deniers.

Just ran into a very interesting, but depressing link regarding the behavioral patterns of deluded groups of humans:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/When_Prophecy_Fails
The research behind this study involved a cult which believed that the earth would be destroyed by a flood in 1954 and they would be saved by a flying saucer which would take them away to the aliens plan and thus they would survive the calamity. Despite the utter failure of the prediction (communicated to the probably certifiably psychotic leader of the group through “automatic writing” by the aliens), the cult adherents maintained their belief in the correctness of the prophecy and their actions.
The conditions for such a condition to exist in a group of individuals are:
Festinger stated that five conditions must be present if someone is to become a more fervent believer after a failure or disconfirmation:
A belief must be held with deep conviction and it must have some relevance to action, that is, to what the believer does or how he or she behaves.
The person holding the belief must have committed himself to it; that is, for the sake of his belief, he must have taken some important action that is difficult to undo. In general, the more important such actions are, and the more difficult they are to undo, the greater is the individual’s commitment to the belief.
The belief must be sufficiently specific and sufficiently concerned with the real world so that events may unequivocally refute the belief.
Such undeniable disconfirmatory evidence must occur and must be recognized by the individual holding the belief.
The individual believer must have social support. It is unlikely that one isolated believer could withstand the kind of disconfirming evidence that has been specified. If, however, the believer is a member of a group of convinced persons who can support one another, the belief may be maintained and the believers may attempt to proselytize or persuade nonmembers that the belief is correct.
This applies directly to the CAGW lunacy which has zero scientific validity at this time. The world has spent trillions of dollars based on what is junk science, but for any politician to declare this was a mistake will result in their political obliteration and quite potentially jail time. There is a very large community of deluded watermelons who use the fact that others believe as they do that they’re right; even though reality proves them wrong.
The maladaption to reality discovered by Festinger also applies to the parasite class in the US who believe that Obozo’s policies are working despite overwhelming objective evidence that they’re an utter failure.
This calls for some crash research to find drugs which will enhance reality perception in individuals as, unfortunately, there appear to be too few individuals in western populations who are ready to give greater weight to evidence from external reality than to “evidence” whose only support is based on groupthink.
It also means that one can’t use logical argument, or even pointing out that reality contradicts the beliefs of individuals who are suffering from group think delusions. The only thing that works is to let them suffer the consequences of their stupidity and the few survivors might learn something.
Dr. Motl is not “back in Czechoslovakia”. That country no longer exists.
Actually, he’s living like a Prince in the “land formerly called Czechoslovakia”.
