  1. Pity there wasn’t someone like this young man around when Gamil Rodrigue Liass Gharbi opened up in the Ecole Polytechnique.

  2. So, he was a Muslim and an undeniably selfless hero of the highest order.
There must be hate-filled, bigoted heads exploding around the western world trying to fit those two concepts in the same sentence.
    RIP, young man.

  3. That’s because the metrosexual male is the new Canadian norm. Canada’s hero’s are now the Neil Young’s and the DePape’s. I am glad that I am old and will not live to see the total devolution of Canada.

  4. What I find very interesting is that when I refer to “hate-filled, bigoted heads”, you unquestionably assume it’s directed at you and my fellow open-minded conservatives. I didn’t indicate that anywhere, you blindly assumed it was an attack from the left.
So who’s the one with comprehension difficulties? Twit.

  5. That’s how you defeat terrorism. Its expensive, but that’s how its done.
You do not defeat terrorism by turning a free country into a police state with ubiquitous surveillance.
One more time. Muslims and Islam are not the problem. Two-bit fundamentalist hillbillies from the backwoods of Pakistan are not the problem.
The Left is the problem. And in “the Left” I include every P.O.S. “conservative” politician who thinks it’s a good idea to let the NSA record every phone call and internet packet in the world.
This kid’s a hero who died in battle saving his school and his friends. I hope he gets the 72 hottest virgins they got up there.

  6. @ Phantom “Muslims and Islam are not the problem”
I guess it must take some kind of crazy to reach that conclusion. Your argument is ridiculous and illogical. It doesn’t make any sense. You say Muslims and Islam are not the problem. That the problem is the left.
As much as I detest the left, I have a hard time blaming the left for Islamic suicide bombers in Muslim countries. I do blame the left for encouraging Muslim immigration and importing suicide bombers to western countries, but I digress.
The fact that a Muslim stopped a suicide bomber does not lead one to infer that Muslims and Islam are not the cause of terrorism. That argument has a bunch of logical fallacies. Do you know anything about the background of the story? Do you know anything about Islam?
The suicide bomber was to all evidence a Sunni Muslim and the school where he was going to blow himself up was a Shia school. The Sunni suicide bomber was going to get martyred terrorizing his enemies to go to paradise in accordance with Islam and Muslim culture. The other guy who was a Shia Muslim decided to get martyred in battle against the suicide bomber.
If you knew a little bit about Muslim “culture”, you would know that martyrdom and terrorizing of their enemies are two things deeply ingrained in Islam. For a quick cultural background see:
Qur’an:8:12 “I shall terrorize the infidels. So wound their bodies and incapacitate them because they oppose Allah and His Apostle.”
Qur’an:8:57 “If you gain mastery over them in battle, inflict such a defeat as would terrorize them, so that they would learn a lesson and be warned.”
Ishaq:326 “If you come upon them, deal so forcibly as to terrify those who would follow, that they may be warned. Make a severe example of them by terrorizing Allah’s enemies.”
Muslim:C41B20N4678 “Messenger of Allah, where shall I be if I am killed? He replied: In Paradise. The man threw away the dates he had in his hand and fought until he was killed.”
With regards to a historical overview of terrorist attacks, any person with half a brain would know that the overwhelming and indisputable majority come from Muslims. And what makes Muslim terrorist attacks so ruinous and destructive is the necessity of inflicting terror on their enemies and the martyrdom of the perpetrator. It is not difficult to understand this if one investigates Muslim culture even in the most cursory manner. But if you read SDA regularly and can still come up with a statement like “Muslims and Islam are not the problem”, I think there might not be any hope for you.

  7. Note, Daniel, that Phantom did not say that Islam isn’t “a” problem, he said that Muslims aren’t “The” problem. It’s a distinction with a huge difference, and he’s right.
The cause of the biggest, most pressing problems facing the west — unsustainable, essentially suicidal spending caused by leftists paying off the parasites to get their vote and gain power, the concomitant confiscatory tax policy (as in France), the over-regulation of small business, excessive power in the hands of corrupt politicians, anti-constitutional behaviour by the current US president, economic obstructionism by the environmentalists, the dangerous slide towards world government and regulation of everything under the sun in the name of “the environment”, etc., etc. — these problems are not caused, factually speaking, by Islamists.
To the extent that fundamentalist Islam is *a* problem within the West (and it definitely is), even that is a direct result of immigration policies foisted upon Western citizens by Leftist, progressive politicians, and, to a slightly lesser extent, the leftists and “progressives” who voted for them, the overwhelmingly (90% in the US) “progressive”, left-leaning media (which has turned into a propaganda arm supporting the aforementioned destructive policies), the infiltration of academia by progressives quasi-Marxists, etc., etc.
In the West, the Left is the problem.

  8. @EBD
I agree with you. In the West, the Left is the problem. Perhaps that is what Phantom meant. But this is a story about Muslim terrorism in Muslim countries. I can’t blame the Left for that.
I agree with Phantom in that you won’t defeat terrorism in the West by turning a free country into a police state with ubiquitous surveillance as leftists and neocons want.

  9. DhRT said: “But this is a story about Muslim terrorism in Muslim countries. I can’t blame the Left for that.”
Why not? If it wasn’t for the fashionable EuroLeft lionizing the despicable Palestinians, the Russians arming rogue states like Syria and Iran (also Iraq and Libya back in the day) and the Chicoms playing Iran against the West as hard as they can, there wouldn’t BE any international Muslim vs. Muslim terrorism.
The Sunnis have been feuding with the Shiites since Mo died. This is not a new thing. What’s new is all the short sighted Leftist retards funding the feud and using it as a weapon against the West.
Leftists are -the- enemy. Brainwashed Muslim hillbillies are a handy munitions delivery device for the Left. They are the ultimate low information voter, the turbo-nitrous version of Lenin’s “useful idiots”.
