  1. Burge forgets that some animals are more equal than others in the alternate universe the left lives in..

  2. “Money Talks, BS Walks.”
The Ducks don’t need any more money and any other private network could pick them up and make millions.
Whatever, they should walk on principle, they can afford it.

  3. Mr. Robertson’s big mistake was that he didn’t say “Oh I’m sorry, did I say Bible? I meant to say Quran, and that the Muslims have the right idea regarding the views on alternative lifestyles.”
then sit back, pop some popcorn and watch the CAIR on GLADD battle erupt.

  4. Except GLADD would have stayed still as a mouse if it was Islam being invoked against homosexuality.

  5. Except that A&E did not cancel the show … they suspended Phil Robertson from an undetermined and yet to be filmed number of episodes.
Witty as Burge may be … the real story here is how clueless the A&E exes are about the audience that DD brought to the network.

  6. Being part of modern corporate media, I wouldn’t expect A&E to be anything but practitioners of moral cowardice, but when it comes to offending 50 plus percent of total potential viewers, did they not realize that Duck Dynasty (and likely most of “reality shows”) viewers are almost exclusively within THAT 50%. The slow death of Capitalism from corporations hiring spin doctors to pimp their own decline. I’ve seen it, first hand.

  7. Curious about the FCC licensing, and free speech thereunder….If any?
Also curious if there’s any federal money, grant or otherwise that flows to A&E, which could really complicate this.
Sans those factors, A&E has a perfect right to do whatever they want on the air or with their programming.
That includes deceptive practices like those in the storage auction shows where units are “salted”…. Morality? Never said reality TV had to be honest.

One need look no farther than network television to see an example of people selling something who have no idea who their buyers are. A&E hasn’t torqued off half their viewers with this blunder. More like two thirds to three quarters.
The people at the top-top-tippy-top of American television are a very small group. The guys who green light shows, who spend the money, who exercise editorial power, they all know each other. They all live in NYC and LA, their kids go to the same schools, etc. A large minority are gay. Like, more than 25% would be my wild @$$ed guess. I would bet money that the majority of them have never even seen a Nebraska farmer or even a Chicago suburbanite up close “in the wild”, as it were.
They have no idea who their audience is. That’s why we keep getting “Sex and the City” clones and “Friends” clones for comedy, cop shows that are almost exact word for word copies of “Murder She Wrote”, and Marcus Welby MD. Because that’s the world THEY know, and that’s what they think we all should be watching.
These guys thought the Chick-fil-A thing was a fluke. They think the Hobby Lobby being shut on Sundays and holy days is stupid and will bankrupt them. (No signs of it so far, from what I see.) They put Duck Dynasty on as a smear, to denigrate and disgrace Phill Robertson and his clan, and to destroy their success.
Because they have no frickin’ idea what the USA is really about, or what’s going on in it. They’re stuck in the 1970’s, smoking Mary Jane and stickin’ it to Da Man. Da Man left office in 1989 and died back in 2004, these retards haven’t noticed yet.
Going to be fun watching them go bankrupt.

  9. I missed his point …I’m a youngin..35 …all I can think of was the “just like nobady had the right to be a Hollywood screen writer in 1948” part was pointing to the anti jewish sentiment in Hollywood in 1948? please correct me if I’m wrong.

  10. Paul,
Iowahawk is referring to the Hollywood Blacklist.
refer to McCarthy and the House Unamerican Activities Committee.

  11. rd
McCarthy was a Senator. He had nothing to do with the “HOUSE” Un-american Activities Committee.

  12. Y’know I have read probably a dozen or so articles about the duck dynasty guy, A&E, Steorts, NRO and Steyn trying to figure out what everyone is hysterical about. I’m not offended by any of the words or actions. All of the people and businesses are exercising their rights and will be judged by the market/viewers/readers. As long as there is no political interference then let them all have at it.
From my vantage point it looks like the two bearded guys are #winning.

  13. I suspect that the A&E execs are crazy like a fox. About the only thing this little episode is going to do is increase the ratings for DD. Well that and give A&E’s pets aka GLAAD and the queer bashers a chance to spew some venom at each other. In a few weeks Phil will be back and it is unlikely that production will even miss a beat.

  14. I didn’t mention the Robertsons because I don’t think they are queer bashers in any sense of the word Syncrodox.

  15. The Twittr chatter is right on with this one – the only reason we see these reality shows featuring colorful rustic backwoods folks is the networks intent to hold them up for ridicule – IR – look at the stupid backards red state bible-thumpers, aren;t they soooo uncool.
Well it backfired and all the collusive, metrosexual leftoid network reptiles who prescribed these shows as social conditioning against red state values are spitting out their lattes because the shows are popular with a broad base of viewers who relate to the ethical fiber and politics of these characters.

  16. What they never tell you:
Morrie Ryskind was a script writer. He did the famous Marx Brothers movies. He won a Pulitzer for his Broadway Plays and was nominated twice for Oscars.
In the late 1940’s he testified at HUAC hearing and was blacklisted. He never wrote a script again.
In the early 1950s’ he put up the money for William F Buckley’s National Review. At the time he was a columnist for the Los Angeles Times. He never was allowed to write for them again
