Best Canadian Blog
2004 - 2007
Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

As I’m not a twitter user am I correct to assume that almost a third of the liberal hair apparent’s followers are astroturf, possibly created deliberately by his publicity team?
N.B. I deliberately misspelled heir, cause frankly all his head is used for is growing a glossy mane, it sure isn’t used for profound thinking.
And for comparison, @PMHarper’s score:
Fake 31%
Inactive 44%
Good 25%
How can we explain this?
(Sorry, my company’s firewall doesn’t allow posting to image sharing sites. These numbers are easily verifiable.)
@Ian, it should be remembered that Harper has never been seen as tech-savvy or engaged in social media. The fact that he has ANY followers is enough of a surprise. But it’s not the case with Trudeau.
Remove those who follow Shiny Pony purely for the entertainment value (#AskJustin) and the real percentage would drop dramatically.
It’d be more interesting to see how that compares with other twitter users than anything else.
My understanding is that every Twitter account that isn’t a closely-maintained personal one for a non-public figure gets an immense number of fake followers – and that nothing can effectively be done about that; it tells us nothing, in itself, about the account being followed.
One cannot expect Trudeau’s staff to vet every account that clicks “Follow” and block them if they “look fake”. Nobody’s expected to do that.
(Is it possible that they bought fake followers? I suppose.
Is it likely? Not at all. He has enough genuine popularity – and you don’t need a lot to get a “follow” – with the Left that he hardly needs to, eh?)
I get sick and tired of people being called “tech-savvy” because they can log in to Facebook. Our
friend A. H. down south of the border can still log in to her account, even at age 85 and
after multiple strokes. Whenever I hear someone described as “tech savvy” I feel like demanding
to look at some of their C code, or asking them about Python vs. Perl; or wanting to see them
tune a gas laser; or just to define a “parsec”.
A ‘parsec’ is the time period during which your ball is touching the lip of the hole before it wobbles off for a bogey.
Cheers

I wonder how grey his hair is without all that colouring. I’m only slightly older than Justine and my hair is getting quite silvery. He must spend quite a bit of time in salons. Might explain why he is absent two thirds of the time during question period.
“Harper has never been seen as tech-savvy or engaged in social media”
I guess that’s the consequences of being the competent leader of a large and diverse country during some very trying times. And doing an admirable job I might add.
